Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

We are now recruiting the team that will deliver Crisis at Christmas 2026. This unique project mobilises a huge volunteering effort to provide warmth, companionship and vital services in temporary centres across London to people facing homelessness.

Vacancies: We are hiring for x3 vacancies on the Christmas team

Contract: Fixed Term Contact – starting 9 September 2026 until 31 January 2027

Hours: 35 hours per week (some rota’d working to cover weekends and bank holidays over Christmas period) 

Salary: £31,354 per annum

Location: Canning Town Warehouse, Unit 4 SEGRO Park, London E16 4ES - three days per week onsite. Additional days and locations across London will be required during the Christmas period when our sites are operational.

About the role

Project Assistants play a key role in delivering a range of services that ensure our guests have a safe and happy Christmas.  From healthcare and catering to advice and wellbeing services such as arts and crafts and salon, our services can make a real difference. You will support with the recruitment and management of Crisis at Christmas volunteers and external partners to help deliver services, ensuring teams have all the information and equipment they need. This is a varied role including processing volunteer applications, creating comms materials, managing and communicating schedules, organising training, organising and setting up kit, ensuring our teams of specialists have the equipment and materials they need as well as getting stuck in and helping out directly once our centres open. 

This is great role to kickstart your career in the charity sector, as well as in project management or events roles.

About you 

To be successful in this role you will have…

· Experience of providing administrative support and general office duties in a busy events or project-based environment

· Excellent spoken and written skills to communicate effectively and confidently with a wide range of audiences

· Ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines in ambiguous or challenging situations 

· Good attention to detail to ensure accuracy in tasks

· Experience of customer service and ability to deal with high volumes of enquiries via phone and email in a professional and friendly manner 

· Proficient IT skills and the ability to use data in order to work effectively and collaboratively

· A positive and proactive mindset, coupled with a strong willingness to contribute to and support the success of the project

You may have experience running events or working on busy projects or have experience in a busy customer service or administration environment.  You should have an interest in the charity or homelessness sector and a commitment to Crisis’ purpose and values.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Grant Management

• Manage the end-to-end processing of supplier invoices, employee expenses and card transactions.

• Maintain accurate financial records across finance systems, including Xero and Dext.
• Support budget monitoring through the maintenance of financial trackers and records.

Cashflow, Banking & Treasury

• Support the monthly donation cashflow process in collaboration with programme teams.
• Process banking and treasury transactions, including transfers between accounts and investment vehicles.
• Complete bank reconciliations and investigate payment queries.
• Monitor cash balances and support treasury reporting and cashflow forecasting activities.

Financial Reporting & Assurance

• Assist with month-end close activities, reconciliations and ledger maintenance.
• Prepare schedules and supporting analysis for management reporting, Trustee reporting and statutory accounts.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and supporting evidence.
• Support compliance with financial policies, controls and external reporting requirements.

Systems & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial data across systems.
• Support finance process automation and reporting enhancements.
• Contribute to systems, controls and process improvement projects.
• Help maintain finance documentation and internal resources.

Business Partnering & Organisational Support

• Provide responsive finance support to colleagues, suppliers and grantees.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and conscientious finance professional with strong organisational skills and a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.

You will bring:

• A degree, finance qualification or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience working in a finance, accounting or operational finance environment.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations and financial controls.
• Experience using finance systems such as Xero and strong Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• A collaborative and service-focused approach, with strong communication skills.
• High levels of integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive financial information.

Experience within a charity, foundation, grant-making or not-for-profit environment would be advantageous, but is not essential. Experience of treasury activities, cashflow management or international payments would also be beneficial.

The role will provide a high quality and pro-active front line service to victims of domestic abuse helping to keep them safe. The role involves assessing risk, completing safety and support planning, and ensuring the service offer is accessible and inclusive to all.

The Partnerships Officer will manage relationships with multiple firms simultaneously, each at a different stage in their journey to testing and embedding new and improved approaches to identifying and supporting customers experiencing or at risk of suicidality. Success in the role requires excellent organisation, persistence, and relationship management skills, alongside the ability to understand the challenges and competing demands faced by participating firms and to support them in maintaining momentum and delivering results.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in partnership management, stakeholder engagement and influencing change within organisations. The role offers significant autonomy and responsibility, with opportunities to build expertise, lead stakeholder relationships, and contribute directly to the SPAL’s growth and impact.

While the role will predominantly focus on the SPAL, the postholder will also contribute to the continued development of the wider Action Labs research-to-impact offer.

Key tasks in the role will include:

• Acting as the primary day-to-day contact for participating firms, building strong and productive relationships throughout their involvement in the SPAL. Coordinating and supporting consultancy and coaching meetings with participating firms.
• Developing and maintaining a strong working knowledge of emerging Action Lab research insights. Applying research insights in discussions with firms, supporting them in translating evidence into new or improved tools, processes and communications.
• Supporting a portfolio of firm representatives simultaneously, ensuring each remains engaged, motivated and on track to deliver against agreed objectives and milestones.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to support and empower Stroke Association Support Coordinators to deliver high quality stroke support services, ensuring stroke survivors and their carers receive the best possible support to rebuild their lives after stroke. 

Whilst a coaching style maybe suitable for many aspects of the role, there will be occasions where strong leadership and management will be needed to ensure Stroke Support Coordinators maintain compliance with contractual policies and procedures and to address any performance related issues.

Supporting our organisation as part of the leadership team you will ensure improvements are led by what matters to people affected by stroke.

You will support and empower Stroke Support Coordinators through a coaching ethos to:

· Deliver high quality stroke support services, ensuring stroke survivors and their carers receive the best possible support to rebuild their lives after stroke. 

· Identify and address capability gaps and build volunteer capacity where required. 

· Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, internally and externally.

· Understand and be responsible for the active monitoring of data quality, reporting and service delivery against their national and local key performance indicators.

About You

You will have experience of:

· Effectively balancing a number of competing priorities.

· Experience supporting remote teams with paid staff and volunteers with experience in growing and developing these teams using a coaching style of management

· Experience in managing performance improvement

· Using relevant knowledge and awareness of health and social care systems, ideally within the stroke pathway.

· Using excellent communication skills.

· Championing diversity internally and externally.

· Identifying and supporting quality improvement, based on an understanding of how work really happens.

You will be:

· Able to identify problems or opportunities where we can have more impact or add value for people affected by stroke, working with others to experiment and learn.

· Approachable, taking time to understand the context of people we work with, supporting thinking and always having people affected by stroke at the centre.

· Experienced in overseeing and supporting change and development.

· Agile in your approach, open to developing your skills, knowledge and experiences and supporting the organisation to move towards our goals and strategic focus.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Edinburgh Skylight as a Receptionist/Administrator in our Crisis Skylight Edinburgh Team. You will be there to welcome people who are homeless seeking advice and start the process of helping them to end their homelessness.

You will support the team to manage a busy working environment, welcoming and supporting a range of people including new Skylight members, current members, staff, Crisis volunteers and visitors. You will provide administrative support for this fast and responsive service to those newly presenting as homeless. You will also carry out administration and housekeeping functions relating to the customer service and facilities management of Cranston House. About you

To be successful in this role you will be highly organised with experience of working within a reception or administrative support role, as well as experience providing a high standard of customer service. We are looking for someone who understands the issues faced by homeless people and is excited to learn about the ways we can support them. You will be able to deal with challenging situations and individuals with a range of needs, to reach a positive resolution through a calm and confident approach.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work successfully with disadvantaged or socially excluded groups and individuals. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written will be key, as well as working collaboratively within a team. As you will be the first point of contact for many people, you need to be friendly, enjoy helping and be willing to learn about Crisis and all the other activities taking place within the building.
