This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and analytical policy professional to join our dynamic External Affairs team in The Royal College of Radiologists’ (RCR).

Our policy aims are simple: to enhance NHS systems, pathways and working conditions for RCR members so that they can provide optimum care to their patients. Good working relationships with the doctors and senior manager are key to the success of this role, establishing credibility and understanding how their needs from the frontline can be best met.

In this role the Policy Advisor will work with the wider team by actively monitoring and responding to the external environment to influence change. The Policy Advisor will lead the development of evidence-led policy development in priority influencing areas. The postholder will be confident collaborating with key decision makers, and responding to consultations from governments and regulators. Working closely with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager and other members of the external affairs team to provide advice and counsel to the College.

What you’ll do:

• Gather, interpret and analyse information on policy areas relevant to RCR specialties, clinical oncology and clinical radiology
• Work with Officers, committee chairs, special interest groups and other doctors to ensure that our consultation responses reflect the expert views of the RCR’s membership
• Support the planning, development, delivery and review of policy projects, consultation responses and lines to take
• Support the building of relationships with external stakeholders, including opinion formers and decision-makers
• Crafting external policy content as requested including reports, briefings, web content and presentations
• Monitoring and responding to policy queries from members and stakeholders

You will be delivering high-quality support and creating opportunities for children and young people living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus and their families/carers. Supporting Shine members to lead healthy, independent, and fulfilling lives by improving condition management and fostering connections within the Shine community. 

This role will focus on children and young people (0–25), you will be primarily working within the Children, Young People and Families team. However, there will be occasions when you will work across age groups to ensure the best outcomes for our members. 

The role is home-based but you will be required to attend regular clinics in London including GOSH (Great Ormond Street Hospital). Other travel across Southern England including Bristol, Devon and Hampshire may be required. There will be occasional travel required across wider areas and nationally including attendance at events, conferences and meetings at our head office in Peterborough.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to lead our Training Team on developing and delivering training for all of National Numeracy's programmes.

Our training team is absolutely central to the success of our mission at National Numeracy. In order to reach and support as many adults and children across the UK as possible, we take an online train-the-trainer approach, by training Numeracy Champions and Volunteers in different settings. We do not teach any maths - instead we train Champions to raise awareness of the value of numeracy, supporting others to overcome anxieties, build confidence, and feel better about using and improving basic maths. We do not work with children directly, but train teachers as Numeracy Champions to support children and their families.

This team of two therefore have a busy calendar of training delivery, as well as the admin associated with this and with the work around capturing the impact measurement of our training. We are looking for someone who is not only an excellent and empathetic trainer who can confidently and reliably lead this dynamic activity, but can also work strategically with our Programmes Director to develop our training further, while line managing and developing our Training Officer.

The successful candidate will work closely with the other Programme Managers to ensure smooth and successful delivery of our activity, as well as across our wider team, managing the training budget, and liaising with our External Relations and Operations & Impact teams. This role is important in collecting impact and case studies as there it has regular direct contact with our Champions and our beneficiaries. There will also be opportunities to keep the whole National Numeracy team and our Board of Trustees informed about our training programme.

You will be empathetic and thoughtful in your approach to understanding clients’ needs, while remaining boundaried and mindful of self-care. 
 
You will manage a small number of specialist young people’s advocates providing needs-led support, information and advocacy to LGBT victims and survivors. You will also be responsible for scheduling team meetings and reflective spaces and support in chairing these spaces. You will support with ensuring the needs of the wider Children and Young People’s (CYP)  team are understood and opportunities for them to develop their practice are created.
 
As Team Lead, you may also be the first point of contact that many LGBT victims and survivors of abuse and violence have within the National Advocacy and Support team. You will be partly responsible for triaging new referrals that come into service from across the UK and allocating them to the Children and Young People’s team. Following the organisation’s largest ever successful fundraising appeal, strategy is now set for the next 15 years and it’s an excellent time to join.

As this role covers an internal secondment, the new postholder should be able to start no later than early June 2026.

The Senior Special Events Manager will lead on the delivery and development of the Special Events Strategy working closely with peers across the fundraising department and managing two Special Events Officers. The postholder will manage key external stakeholders, including the Philanthropy Board and HNWI donors, to ensure the success of the special events programme through budget-setting, KPI monitoring and team management. The Senior Special Events Manager will personally manage a small portfolio of large, high-impact special events and develop the special events strategy in line with the wider organisational strategy.

The selected candidate will have significant experience of managing special events and will experience of developing relationships with HNWIs and event committees. Alongside good internal relationship management with senior stakeholders, in this role you will be the organisation’s expert in special events, so experience leading special events strategy is highly desirable, ideally within a charity setting.
