Role Summary

This position provides key support for the policy and research functions of the charity, in addition to collaborating on campaigns and public affairs work. You will be responsible for carrying out primary research relevant to the charity’s policy and research functions. You’ll be monitoring and collating new policy and research materials and contributing to public communications including report-writing, blog posts and social media activity. You’ll be providing input into strategic planning regarding policy and research activities. You’ll connect with researchers and policy people from other charities and from universities. Finally, you’ll be attending conferences and meetings on behalf of the charity.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Policy

• Support the P&RM, DR&PA and CEO in responding to public consultations, advising policymakers and working with national policy and research bodies as appropriate.

• Represent the charity in meetings with policy partners where appropriate.

• Attend policy and research conferences on behalf of the charity, providing feedback to the team on key learning and opportunities that arise.

• Work with the SC&PA and DR&PA to draw up influencing strategies to target key stakeholders on policy priorities.

• Monitor external research that helps our policy work and opportunities for collaboration.

• Work with the SC&PA  to engage campaigners in our policy work.

Research

• Work with the P&RM to carry out research activities relevant to the policy and research functions of the charity; including collating and analysing data, and co-authoring reports for both internal and public purposes.

• Work with the P&RM and the Communications and Marketing teams to produce engaging and accessible communication of research findings for a range of audiences. 

• Monitor and collate new policy and research materials, including research reports, policy documents and media activity. Work with the P&RM to produce internal reports where appropriate and to ensure the charity’s activities reflect and respond to the wider policy and research environment.

• Work with the P&RM on external research projects funded by the charity, including support with assessing the quality of bids by external researchers. 

Across both areas

• Produce social media communications where relevant to policy and research. Work with colleagues across the Research and Public Affairs and Communications and Marketing teams to develop strategies for maximising impact, especially in digital communications.

• Contribute to strategic planning by contributing to staff meetings, producing supporting materials and providing feedback on public affairs.

The postholder will also be expected to:

• attend training courses and develop skills as required, sharing learning with other staff as relevant

• in unusual circumstances, work weekend and / or evening hours, for which time in lieu will be given

• undertake other reasonable work as requested by the P&RM.

The Programme Officer role will report to the Programme Manager and sit within the Programmes Team.

The Programme Officer will be responsible for coordinating and delivering a number of our services.  You will have a clear focus of delivering high quality programmes that are run smoothly, efficiently, within budget and achieve the desired outcomes and objectives for both the partners and the young people.

You will support others within your team to deliver high quality programmes from programme initiation through to evaluation that will directly contribute to the company's growth strategy and impact.

The Programme Officer will also be a key member of the department and contribute to systems and maximising efficiency, delivering programme coordination to an excellent standard that produces high impact for our young people and partners.

In this role, you will work closely with our Youth Ambassadors, Facilitator Team and Digital Communications and Marketing team.

The motivation behind the LifeSkills programme is to inspire millions of young people and equip them with the key skills to move forward into the 21st century workplace. The programme focuses on teaching skills such as CV writing, interview skills, networking, problem solving, creativity, resilience, communication and managing online reputation. This combined Programme Manager, Facilitator role will be instrumental in raising awareness and developing skills in schools across Wales.

This post requires daily travel within South Wales.

The role will involve:

• A thorough understanding of the ready-made online resources to facilitate LifeSkills workshops, online and in person
• Creation and management of a deployment plan to achieve agreed targets for students and engagement of Barclays staff
• Maintaining systems for timely and accurate monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the effectiveness of the LifeSkills programme in line with contract requirements
• Sharing best practice and collaborating within and across BITC’s programme managers/facilitators in Scotland and Northern Ireland

The successful candidate will be:  

• Managing the delivery of programmes to meet contractual obligations
• Working with business, schools and/or community organisations to create mutually beneficial and sustainable relationships
• Delivering highly engaging workshops which respond to learner needs and remain true to workshop objectives

The role requires travel across the region for programme delivery and participant interaction.

Salary:
The salary band for this role reflects the flexibility we offer with the contractual location. Candidates will be based at home and have personal transport to travel to schools across Wales. This role is 28 hours per week until 31 July 2025 with a full-time equivalent salary of £27,945 to £32,000 per annum (this will be prorated for part-time hours).

Senior Programme Manager (School Food Review)

This is a unique opportunity for a person with skills and experience in managing projects, programmes and partnerships to join a coalition of organisations striving to improve child health through improving the school food ecosystem.

Who we are

The School Food Review is a coalition of organisations spanning charities, educational organisations, caterers, unions and academics, committed to working together to improve children’s health by reforming the school food system. The group’s work is coordinated by founder members School Food Matters, Food Foundation, Bite Back 2030 and Chefs in Schools, and is supported by Impact on Urban Health.

The School Food Review has identified three areas of action required to deliver meaningful change – equitable access, fairer funding and quality assurance. Work across these three areas is delivered through focused working groups, drawing on members of the coalition. This includes public campaigning, advocacy and policy development.

The post will be hosted by Chefs in Schools; we are a young, ambitious charity that’s rapidly growing. Our mission is to improve kids' health, through improving school food & food education. Working in areas of high deprivation, we support and train school kitchen teams to serve the best, freshest and tastiest food possible, alongside meaningful food education. About you and the role

The purpose of this role is to coordinate the work of our coalition, the School Food Review, to ensure that we are maximising the potential of the skills and expertise we can draw on from members, and driving meaningful impact. You will work closely with the School Food Review’s Operational Group, made up of key personnel from the founding organisations, to ensure that the coalition delivers on its mission. Whilst employed by Chefs in Schools, your role will be focused within the coalition.

Day to day, you will project manage operational delivery across the School Food Review coalition, ensuring efficient and effective delivery against the agreed work plan, which you will be monitoring and developing in consultation with your colleagues in the operational group. You will ensure that the governance committee and broader coalition group are kept informed of progress, promptly flagging risks and identifying suitable mitigations.

You will have an understanding of the context that we operate in, education and food sectors, and a high-level understanding of the type of work that is being delivered (eg policy, campaigning and advocacy). You will be a subject matter expert in project management. Your expertise in this area will be combined with strong people skills, and the ability to manage effective partnerships with external organisations. Experience of working with a coalition, or in partnership with multiple organisations, is crucial.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Scope out, survey and review delivery and quality control during and after installation for our Urban Forest and Schools projects.
• Produce engaging, accurate and innovative plans, details and specifications for hard and soft landscape works and tree planting, using our in house style supporting and steering other designers in the team.
• Specify and design schemes for tree and woodland planting projects in estates, public parks & open spaces, and school playground spaces for food growing, education, green infrastructure and SuDS / raingardens.
• Work closely with both our in house Build Team and as a contract administrator to ensure high quality project delivery, to specification and standards required, clear handover of design materials, specifications, tender documentation, sign offs and recorded meetings.

Snow Camp is a ground-breaking national youth charity, and we are looking to recruit a fantastic new North West Wellbeing Manager and Programme Support to join our North West team on a 4 day a week contract (30 hrs).

Our accredited programmes are unique and attractive to young people, taking them from beginner to qualified snowsports instructors in just one year with volunteering and apprenticeship progression routes available at the end. Alongside learning to ski or snowboard, young people also have access to wellbeing support with the emphasis on improving young people’s mental health and wellbeing.

You will report to the North West Programme Manager & Head of Snowsports and will be responsible for the delivery of our wellbeing workshops and providing 1to1 wellbeing support sessions to young people. You will also work as part of the North West team to assist with the planning and delivery of snowsports and life-skills focused youth activities run by the Programme Manager and assist with the apprenticeship programme throughout each year.

Experience of working successfully with under-served young people in a range of settings, with a focus on supporting young people’s wellbeing will be essential to the post. Passion for snowsports and supporting young people generally will be a huge advantage!

Youth work, wellbeing support experience, project management, logistical skills, managing relationships, communication and presentation skills will make up the role. Along with experience of delivering group workshops to help young people work towards meaningful goals to improve their emotional wellbeing.

Job Description

• You will spend roughly 2.5 days will be in the Wellbeing Manager role and 1.5 days will be in the Programme Support role each week.
• In consultation with the Programme Manager, to manage the delivery of the Wellbeing Workshops and 1to1 mentoring support needed for young people and apprentices.
• Work with the programme manager to gain the young people’s trust and confidence.
• To assist with delivery and development of The North West’s full snowsports focused journey of youth programmes which take place at Chill Factore.
• Build a good relationship with the North West Programme Manager to help provide support and guidance to young people.
• Support with the management of (currently) 3 x North West apprentices on their 1-year Snow Camp Apprenticeship programme. particularly helping to manage their wellbeing and signpost to other services where needed.
• Ensuring the apprentices have clear personal development plans and objectives.
• Provide effective and inspiring leadership to apprentices and young people.
• Providing weekly 1to1 support sessions for each apprentice.
• Having an understanding and an involvement in the development of their weekly working rotas.
• Supporting with NVQ work & assisting with any challenges that may be faced.
• Ensuring apprentices are involved and supported working on all Snow Camp programmes as the North West staff team.
• Complete Personal Development Plans and Wellbeing Assessments as required with apprentices.

• Outside of programme days, provide one-to-one mentoring sessions to young people, in-person or remotely, focusing on their well-being and offering support so they can cope with the Snow Camp programme and improve their general wellbeing.
• Be a key team member on the overseas residential for the Excel programme during the Easter holidays. *Valid passport for travel in Europe & Andorra required.
• Use our UPSHOT online database system to keep records and ensure all monitoring and evaluation is carried out.
• Attend external training as required (e.g. Safeguarding and Mental Health Awareness tutor training courses).
• Ensure that all activities and provision you deliver is done safely and in line with organisational policies.
• Support the Programme Manager to ensure all programmes run smoothly and effectively by supporting the delivery of each programme – managing venue instructors, guest speakers, apprentices, youth staff, sessional staff and volunteers as required.
• Support the Programme Manager with recruiting young people for each programme through visits to youth projects, promotion through email to all relevant youth programmes and services and presenting at key stakeholder meetings on youth service provision. Finding new young people in the North West area to support by Snow-Camp will be key.
• Support the Programme Manager with programme administration including finances, SLAs, attendance records, risk assessments, bookings and young people’s records on Upshot.
• Support with management and delivery of trips and overseas residential’s (Snow-Camp Excel, Apprenticeship & Youth Forum Residential’s) as part of Snow-Camp programmes. Including support with all the necessary risk assessments.
• Additional tasks may vary depending on different opportunities throughout the year.

Essential Criteria

• At least 2 years’ experience working with young people on a one to one basis.

• The ability to ski or snowboard (or willing to learn).
• Sound knowledge of MS Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Management and support

The North West Wellbeing Manager & Programme Support will report to the North West Programme Manager & Head of Snowsports Morv Bett who will provide support and guidance.

The Trustee board will determine the overall direction of Snow Camp and will set the overall priorities in consultation with the Director and Senior Team.

Emphasising an audience-centred approach, this new role has been established to develop and deliver new initiatives and engagement projects that bridge the gap between artistic programme and communities.

Key aims include:
• Platform new narratives, underrepresented perspectives and reflective discourse to widen audience engagement

Strategy
• Deliver on the ICA’s vision and mission, the L&E strategy, audience development targets, increasing reach to work with diverse audiences, working to team targets and SMART objectives. Promote equality and inclusivity in all aspects of work.
• Instigating new collaborative models to engage with contemporary society that leverages the ICA’s assets as a resource.
Programme delivery
• Working closely with the Head of Learning and Engagement to devise and produce ICA’s Learning and Engagement programme, including co-creating with young people on our core youth projects (ICA Creatives and youth forum), monthly talks programme, book launches, symposia, workshops (inc reading groups), residencies.
• Developing programme that is responsive to the artistic programme and audience need.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with institutions including higher education and third sector for collaborative purposes and to grow new audiences.
• Liaise and collaborate with the Bookstore Manager on creating opportunities in line with the talks programme and book launches. 
• Ensure programmes are accessible, in content, language and reach.
• Contracting freelance artists, facilitators, and other collaborators, ensuring they understand and apply the organisation ethos and policies in their approach to work.
• Devising and delivering new online content opportunities, that create programme visibility, promote and target audience reach, including contributing towards digital strategies (in collaboration with comms team).
• Contribute to and participate in a collaborative working environment, including weekly team discussions and other conversations.

Finance Management
• Manage the project budget ensuring both quality control and good value for money, including authorising expenditure via any payment method, tracking all transactions, and tracking actual, committed, and forecast (uncommitted) costs. With oversight from Head of L&E.
• Track income, request sales invoices, and submit a third-party audit trail for all income received.
• Reconcile project budgets and cashflow to our accounting system monthly, in collaboration with the Finance Manager.

Comms & Marketing
• Work to maintain the profile of ICA and our projects.
• Work with the Communications Team to plan and deliver communication and participant recruitment campaigns and implement appropriate strategic marketing for each project.

General Administration
• Ensure all day-to-day project administration is carried out efficiently and appropriately.
• Maintain that all project activity and outcomes are carried out in line with ICA’s policies and procedures, including and not limited to insurance, liability, health & safety, safeguarding, privacy & data protection, access, equity, diversity, inclusion, safer spaces, and anti-racism.
• Work in a sustainable and environmentally conscious manner in the production and presentation of ICA programme.
• Maintaining data collection to contribute towards evaluation, tracking monitoring information to monitor impact.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
• At least 5 years’ experience of working effectively as a producer in the cultural sector within a participation / learning / engagement context
• A strong track record of producing programmes that respond to audience need and create impact
• Experience working with diverse audiences including young people and communities
• Knowledge of access, diversity, equality and inclusion, anti-racism policies in the cultural sector.
• Growth specific mind-set; adaptive and fresh thinking in new approaches to engage audiences
• Experience of working with artists and supporting them in complex project delivery
• Excellent project management, administrative and organisational skills
• Good numeracy and project budgeting skills
• IT literate and confident across a range of programmes and platforms
• A strong written and oral communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people
• Awareness of safeguarding management principles and best practices

As an Area Manager you will give leadership, direction and guidance to the staff of Medaille Trust to ensure the provision and development of a high quality service in line with the Trust’s Mission, Values and Strategy.

You will have a good understanding of the CQC framework relating to Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking.  You will carry out quarterly assurance audits in all safe houses ensuring any appropriate action is taken where necessary.

You will line manage, induct, mentor, coach and support Service Managers.  Additionally, you will ensure that any complaints, grievances and disciplinaries are investigated and responded to in an effective and timely manner in line with Medaille Policies.

Although the post is home based, the post holder will be expected to travel frequently to our safe houses within the South and London areas with some overnight stays.

You must have previous experience in a relevant sector or experience of working with adults that are vulnerable.  Experience of managing staff, carrying out line management, supervision and appraisals is essential.  Additionally, you must have experience of setting up Service User Engagement groups.

Pause works with women who have experienced – or are at risk of – repeated pregnancies that result in children needing to be removed from their care. The programme gives women the chance to pause and take control over their lives, breaking a destructive cycle that causes both them and their children deep trauma. We are now working with more women who have experienced multiple removals than anyone else in the country.

The Pause Practice Lead will manage one of our largest teams – six Pause Practitioners and one Coordinator. The Practice Lead will ensure effective delivery of the Pause programme – they will work alongside their team, bringing a wealth of direct practice experience of complex work to maximise the team’s potential. 

The Practice Lead will provide high levels of supervision and leadership to team members from a variety of disciplines, as well ensuring fidelity and integrity to the model. They will typically have significant experience in both operational and project management, with an ability to manage complex data and demonstrate impact. Additionally, they will usually have experience of evidence informed approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Effectively lead and coach the Pause Practice to achieve positive outcomes for women - setting vision, targets and priorities;
• Ensure fidelity and integrity to the model through delivery of the Pause Framework elements, for example, assertive outreach with women and ensuring the most effective form of long-acting reversible contraception is in place;
• Ensure effective pathways are established and maintained with key agencies, e.g. sexual health, housing and mental health;
• Ensure an evidence base is applied to practice through assessment of a woman's needs, case formulation, intervention delivery and review;
• Ensure outcomes are achieved and monitored through the Pause Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework and that real-time data is used to improve practice and reported to relevant funders;
• Report to the Local Pause Board and any other relevant funders;
• Manage expenditure of the Pause Practice and ensure any financial spend on women is aligned with their goals as set out in the care plan;
• Ensure the effective management of all statutory requirements related to the Pause Practice at all times, including safeguarding of vulnerable children and adults, and health and safety of staff;
• Represent Pause to external stakeholders;
• Embed continuous learning ethos within the Pause Practice.

Reporting directly to the Head of Programmes & Funding, you will play a pivotal role in planning, developing, and submitting trust proposals aligned with our organisational strategy and values. You'll build lasting relationships with trusts and foundations through effective communication, ensuring our funding needs are clearly communicated. Additionally, you'll support learning, monitoring, and evaluation activities across all our overseas programmes, translating impactful data into valuable insights for our wider fundraising and communications team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and research funding opportunities, managing a pipeline of trust and foundation opportunities.

• Collaborate closely with the Programmes team and project delivery partners to develop compelling project proposals.

• Manage grant applications from submission to decision and provide appropriate reporting, ensuring high standards and alignment with our brand identity.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of each application, driving continuous improvement in trust fundraising efforts.

• Steward the donor portfolio effectively, maintaining strong relationships.

• Contribute to resources supporting various fundraising efforts, such as cases for support and budgets.

• Gather and analyse monitoring and evaluation data to report Frank Water's impact.

What We're Looking For:

An enthusiastic team player with a track record in successful trust & foundation fundraising, coupled with strong communication and relationship management skills. You should have experience translating complex ideas into compelling proposals, along with the ability to analyse data and draw out trends. Experience in international development or a demonstrable interest in global issues is desirable.
