As Head of Supporter Engagement, you will provide University-wide leadership to develop, plan and implement sector-leading fundraising and supporter engagement strategies, policies and programmes – with a particular focus on Regular and Leadership giving (<£10k), Legacy Fundraising, and ensuring an exceptional prospect and donor experience for donors giving at all levels.
As the senior lead for the key public-facing aspects of our fundraising programme, you’ll be accountable for the performance of key fundraising streams. You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that strategies and operational plans are in line with institutional needs. You’ll support and inspire your team to deliver ambitious targets. And you will provide support and strategic guidance to University leaders, academics, and colleagues across the University.
You’ll also be a member of our Development Leadership Team (DLT), meaning that you will play a significant role in our success across the whole fundraising mix. The transformation enabled by the launch of our first university-wide fundraising and volunteering campaign will provide further opportunities for your role to evolve during the campaign’s public phase.

As Head of Supporter Engagement, you will undertake a range of activities commensurate with the grading and responsibility of the post. This includes:
- Lead the strategic planning for the Supporter Engagement team (currently Donor Experience, Regular and Leadership Giving, and Legacy Fundraising), working with area leads to translating business objectives into clear operational plans.
- Take overall responsibility for the development and leadership of strategic supporter journeys for key campaign audiences, and coordinate communications planning across the Division.
- Lead your team to conceptualise, plan and deliver communications, events, products and experiences that deliver strategic objectives, working collaboratively with colleagues across DDAR and the wider University.
- Proactively identify ways for Supporter Engagement activity to support and complement major and transformational fundraising.
- Identify and leverage opportunities to use university-wide communications and events to support fundraising success.
- Work to embed a culture of philanthropy across the whole institution, ensuring that the relationships, systems and products are in place to involve students and staff in fundraising.
- Be the University’s subject matter expert for your areas of responsibility, providing support and consultancy to senior colleagues, including University Executive members.
- Represent the interests of the Division at University-wide strategy groups and committees as required.
- Oversee financial planning and resource allocation across the Supporter Engagement team.
- Monitor performance across your areas of responsibility, motivating and inspiring your team members to deliver ambitious goals, supporting their development, and embedding a high-performance culture.
- Take shared responsibility for the overall leadership of the fundraising programme as a member of the Development Leadership Team (DLT).

Essential knowledge, skills and experience
- Experience of leading significant mass participation fundraising, legacy, and donor experience programme(s) in the higher education or charitable sector.
- A well-developed understanding of the fundraising mix, and the principles and processes that underpin fundraising success at all levels.
- Experience of developing and delivering strategies to achieve business objectives.
- Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-cutting teams to deliver exceptional work.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills with experience of translating complex information into effective, persuasive and clear language for a variety of purposes.

Key Responsibilities:
Major Gift Fundraising (50%)
- Identify, cultivate, and secure partnerships with corporations and major donors, aligning their CSR goals and giving priorities with our mission.
- Leverage existing partnerships and relationships with corporations and major donors to grow a wider network of US-based corporations.
- Develop and manage sponsorship opportunities for campaigns, programs and events.
- Oversee all corporate engagement activities, including employee giving, volunteering and cause marketing campaigns.
- Develop and deliver corporate events to build relationships with and raise funds from our developing network of US-based corporations.
- Collaborate with corporate partners to enhance their internal communications strategies, driving awareness and engagement among their employees around shared initiatives.

- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and digital marketing strategy to increase brand awareness and audience engagement.
- Drive digital marketing campaigns across key channels, leveraging analytics to optimize performance.
- Lead content creation efforts, including blogs, case studies, impact stories, newsletters and press releases.
- Build and execute a strategy for growing Street Child’s share of voice in the sector, engaging with media and industry influencers.
- Work with external web developers to manage and enhance website content, SEO and UX to improve engagement and conversion.
- Monitor trends, conduct competitor analysis, and identify opportunities to position Street Child as a thought leader.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Strong track record of securing major gifts ($100,000+) from corporations and individuals, including strategic partnerships, sponsorships and events.
- High-level strategic thinking and planning.
- Experience in a similar role across fundraising and marketing.
- Proven success in driving digital marketing strategies, growing brand awareness, and managing media relations.
- Excellent storytelling skills with experience in content creation, social media management and PR, and media connections.
- Experience using digital tools such as Google Analytics, email marketing platforms and social media management tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; ability to prepare and publicly present materials.

Role Responsibilities
People
Have overall responsibility for all branch employees, including recruitment, employee development and performance assessment.
Income Generation, Fundraising and Publicity
Lead income generation, actively championing and contributing to fundraising events, whilst introducing new ideas and new activity.
Have overall responsibility for the Branch retail operation, working closely with the managers to ensure that individual shops meet annual sales targets.
Work with the trustees in developing the retail strategy and the growth opportunities of new outlets.
Digital Media and Marketing
Be responsible for developing the use of digital media to deliver the charity's vision, mission and strategy.
Work with the trustees to develop a marketing strategy, helping our Branch reach more people and generate additional income.
Financial Performance, Governance and Administration
Together with the trustees, develop and implement robust policies, procedures and controls in line with RSPCA guidelines and law, and produce annual budgets and reports for the Branch.
Security, Maintenance and Health and Safety
Ensure the Branch fulfills its duty of care for the health and safety of employees, volunteers and others on site, and have overall responsibility to ensure that the buildings, land and equipment belonging to the Branch are maintained in a safe and secure manner.
Animal Welfare
In collaboration with the Animal Centre Manager, ensure the Branch delivers on its commitment to care for and ensure the welfare of animals, overseeing compliance with RSPCA standards and policies, relevant legislation and best practice in the provision of animal welfare services.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our award-winning Fundraising Team at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital Charity. The Corporate Partnerships Officer will join our recently established Philanthropy and Partnerships (P&P) team to help us develop and nurture a range of corporate and philanthropic relationships. Together, we will significantly increase our income in support of the world leading research, treatment, and care that takes place across our hospitals in areas such as: childhood cancer, rare diseases, neonatal and maternal health, children and young people’s mental health, and critical care.
The Corporate Partnerships Officer will be responsible for account managing a portfolio of new and existing corporate accounts to deliver a sustainable income growth year on year. In addition, they will work closely with the Head of Corporate Partnerships and Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer to support the day-to-day management of high value strategic partnerships and the delivery of business development activities. They will also contribute to the wider strategic aims of the P&P team to significantly grow both philanthropic and corporate partnership income and impact over the next three years.
The ideal candidate will have strong corporate account management and communication skills (both verbally and in writing) ideally gained within a fundraising or sales/business development environment.
