About the role

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring CFFC continues to grow its impact, strengthen partnerships and inspire philanthropy across Calderdale.

You will lead and develop a committed staff team, work closely with Trustees, build trusted relationships with donors, businesses, professional advisers, charities and public sector partners, and ensure the organisation remains financially sustainable, well-governed and ambitious for the future.

You will also act as CFFC’s public ambassador, representing the organisation across Calderdale and beyond, while championing the importance of local giving and community investment.

Job purpose

To grow NEYDL's earned income across two distinct strands: securing commissioned services and contracts with local authorities and other organisations in the North East; and developing a national market for NEYDL's training products and DigiDAD platform, enabling professionals and organisations across the UK to improve the support available to young dads in their communities.

Hours - Full-time (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm), with occasional evening and weekend working expected to meet the needs of the charity. Four days per week considered for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

Income generation and business development

•Identify and develop opportunities to secure commissioned services and contracts with local authorities, NHS bodies, family hubs, children’s services, early help teams and voluntary sector organisations

•Lead on the sale of NEYDL’s training products to professional audiences nationally, managing the full sales cycle from prospecting to close

•Where relevant to other business development activity, make professionals aware of DigiDAD as a free resource and refer interested contacts to the DigiDAD Engagement Officer for onboarding and follow-up 

•Develop and maintain a BD pipeline, setting annual targets in conjunction with the CEO and reporting progress to the board

•Identify new markets, audiences and partnership opportunities and make evidence-based recommendations to the CEO on where to focus BD effort.

Proposals, tenders and bids

•Lead on the development of proposals, tenders and commissioned service bids, working closely with the CEO and programme team to develop compelling cases

•Maintain awareness of relevant commissioning frameworks, procurement processes and funding opportunities that align with NEYDL’s offer

•Ensure all proposals and tenders accurately reflect NEYDL’s costs and margins and are consistent with the organisation’s financial requirements

Relationships and profile

•Build and manage relationships with commissioners, buyers, strategic partners and sector networks nationally

•Represent NEYDL at sector events, conferences and networks, raising our profile with the professional audiences we want to reach

•Work collaboratively with the DigiDAD Programme Manager to align BD activity with the growth of the DigiDAD platform

•Support the launch and positioning of NEYDL’s new national brand, contributing to marketing and communications activity that supports commercial growth

Organisational leadership and management

•Contribute to organisational strategy and annual planning as a member of the senior management team

•Report on BD performance and progress against targets to the CEO and board

•Work closely with the DigiDAD Engagement Officer (managed by the DigiDAD Programme Manager) to ensure a joined-up approach to professional audience engagement

•Comply with all NEYDL policies and procedures including safeguarding, data protection and equality, diversity and inclusion

Key relationships

Targets 

Year 1 milestones 

The following milestones have been agreed with our primary Year 1 funder and represent the BDM's near-term priorities:

By six months:

• Approaches made to at least 25 contacts, including commissioners in all Family Hub areas in the North East and warm VCSE collaborators

By twelve months:

• Marketing and outreach completed with at least 100 contacts (warm and cold)
• Training delivered at least 10 times
• Indicative conversion targets achieved: approximately 3% of cold contacts and 25% of warm contacts progressing to a training booking (these are assumptions to be tested and refined through year one)
• Evaluation and review of year one learning completed; year two targets developed

Longer-term targets (to April 2029)

The following targets relate to the areas of work this role will contribute to, alongside the DigiDAD Programme Manager and wider team:

• Professionals trained through NEYDL's training products: 50 by April 2027; 350 annually by April 2029
• New professional DigiDAD registrations: 750 by April 2027; 1,400 annually by April 2029
• New young dad DigiDAD registrations: 510 by April 2027; 1,000 annually by April 2029

The Business Development Manager will play a central role in building the relationships and income pipeline that drives the training targets. DigiDAD registration growth is led by the DigiDAD Engagement Officer and wider team, with the Business Development Manager contributing through referrals identified in the course of other work.

Alongside these targets, NEYDL currently holds commissioned service contracts with several local authorities: Durham, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Gateshead. A key priority for the Business Development Manager will be to maintain and strengthen these relationships, ensuring contracts are renewed and the value of our work to each commissioner is clearly evidenced. Beyond existing contracts, we are keen to secure commissioned funding in areas of the North East where we currently have limited or no presence.

Pathway's Business Development Manager plays a key role in our small core team, working with staff across the organisation to develop our offers to NHS partners and building and managing relationships with external funders and partners from the statutory, charity and corporate sectors. Reporting to the Chief Executive the postholder plays a leading role in developing strategies to increase our impact, diversify our revenue streams and support the spread and replication of evidence-based models of care and service improvements, emerging from Pathway’s own work and our wide inclusion health networks.

The main tasks are:

1. Business Development & Lead Generation

Research and identify opportunities to spread Pathway's models of improved care, including new routes to NHS commissioners, budget holders, and innovative funding mechanisms. With senior support, identify target contacts and generate leads to develop and diversify Pathway's revenue streams and carry out planning to adapt to the external environment.

2. Grant Writing & Funding Applications
Lead and co-ordinate the development of high-quality grant applications and service business cases, working across Pathway's teams to gather evidence, articulate impact, and make compelling cases for support to NHS commissioners and Trusts, charitable foundations, and corporate partners.

3. Relationship Management
Build, manage and track relationships with NHS commissioners, system partners, clinical champions, corporate partners and funders through new and existing mechanisms. Represent Pathway externally, developing a deep understanding of commissioners' and funders’ needs, and propose ways Pathway can plan to meet them. Help staff, Fellows, and close partners to understand these needs and how Pathway may need to change in response.

4. Marketing & Communications
Work with the Communications Manager to develop promotional campaigns and marketing materials that increase Pathway's impact and externally generated income. Maintain a strong working knowledge of Pathway's care innovations and service models, and promote these in an NHS-appropriate style. Keep abreast of developments in the NHS to ensure Pathway's communications and marketing activities connect with current health service concerns.

About you - You need to have:

The Opportunity

This is a new and significant appointment for SWT UK. We are looking for a Director of Development to develop and lead our UK fundraising strategy – taking ownership of income generation across all streams, donor communications and supporter stewardship, and managing a team of three talented fundraising professionals.

Our individual supporter base is large globally – growing in UK – loyal and deeply engaged: many give through our elephant adoption programme, which connects them directly with named animals in our care. We are now ready to build on this engaged supporter base and develop it into a structured individual giving programme – with mid-level giving pathways, major donor cultivation, systematic stewardship and deeper philanthropic relationships. That is the central challenge and opportunity of this role.

We also have active corporate and trust relationships, a legacy programme in development, and real potential to grow income from European and international funders. The Director of Development will take ownership of all of this – hands on and strategic in equal measure.

What You Will Do

• Develop and implement a new UK fundraising strategy, establishing clear priorities, income targets and programmes that will drive growth through to 2030 and beyond
• Develop and implement a UK individual giving programme – building on our adoption base to create structured giving journeys, mid-level and major donor cultivation, and meaningful stewardship
• Manage the UK fundraising budget, set and monitor income targets across all streams, and report regularly to the Executive Director on performance and ROI
• Take day-to-day ownership of corporate and trust relationships, writing reports, proposals and partner communications
• Build a major donor programme from the ground up, identifying and cultivating high-value individual prospects
• Develop legacy marketing activity, working alongside our existing legacy administrator and Freewill partnership

This is a hands-on role as much as a leadership one, and the right person will be comfortable doing both.

• Proven track record in fundraising, with demonstrable success securing income from individuals, trusts or corporates – including five-figure gifts and above
• Experience developing individual giving programmes, including mid-level or major donor cultivation
• A hands-on practitioner – comfortable writing proposals, reports and donor communications yourself
• Experience managing a small fundraising team with warmth, clarity and accountability

Awel Aman Tawe is a pioneering community energy charity working to tackle the climate emergency while strengthening community resilience. Founded in 1998, we have developed two of the largest renewable energy co-operatives in Wales – Awel Co-op (wind) and Egni Co-op (solar and smart local energy systems).

With increasing scale, complexity and ambition, we need a Finance Director who can ensure our financial systems, planning, and governance remain robust, agile and aligned with our mission. The Role

We are seeking an experienced, inquisitive and proactive Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership across the organisation. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will work closely with the CEO, Creative Director, Trustees and senior colleagues to shape organisational strategy, support decision-making and ensure financial sustainability. You will bring clarity and insight across multiple entities and income streams, and play a central role in navigating complexity, including financial planning for large-scale infrastructure and operating in a sector influenced by fluctuating energy markets. AAT is looking for someone who is committed and enthused to accelerate Wales towards net zero carbon and helping the community energy sector’s vital role in achieving this.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic leadership

• Provide strategic financial leadership as part of the senior management team
• Contribute to organisational strategy and provide constructive challenge and insight
• Lead the development of long-term financial plans and sustainable business models
• Develop financial modelling and scenario planning, including for major capital projects
• Support funding strategies (including liaison with banks), business cases and income diversification

Financial Planning and Reporting

• Lead the development of robust budgets, forecasts and financial models
• Provide clear, insightful management accounts and financial reporting to SMT and Board
• Ensure reporting supports effective decision-making across the organisation
• Oversee financial reporting to funders, lenders and stakeholders

Operational finance and governance

• Oversee day-to-day financial management and cash flow

• Lead and support a small finance and administration team

Person Specification

Essential experience

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPFA or equivalent)
• Significant senior finance leadership experience in a complex organisation
• Strong experience of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and modelling
• Experience of producing statutory and management accounts
• Experience of multi-entity structures and financial consolidation
• Experience of charity finance, including SORP and restricted/unrestricted funds
• Track record of supporting strategic decision-making through financial insight
• Experience working with multiple income streams (e.g. grants, trading, contracts)
