Ucan Enfield Ambassador

What You’ll Do

As a UCAN Enfield Ambassador, you’ll play a key role in helping people find out about and engage with the UCAN project, which promotes healthy lifestyle changes through free exercise, nutrition and wellbeing sessions. You’ll help support sessions on the day and raise awareness in the community.

You will:

• Attend UCAN exercise or nutrition sessions to take the register and gather feedback from attendees
• Represent UCAN at community events or groups by helping to set up an information stall
• Talk to members of the public about UCAN and help them sign up
• Input register or sign-up data into the CRM system (training provided)

Skills You’ll Use or Develop

• Friendly, confident communication with the public
• Ability to use simple digital forms
• Reliable, organised and a good team player
• Willingness to learn and follow data protection guidance

Time Commitment

Flexible – ideally 2–4 hours per week
May include weekdays or occasional weekends depending on events and session schedules

Volunteers are an integral part of Human Appeal’s success. They are the ones that create real change for those most in need. Main tasks:

• Administrative tasks such as collating data, contacting signups for pledges, various challenges, deployments and events. 
• Assist with administrational tasks relating to fundraising 
• Create content for social media
• Contact guests who have booked for events
• Research venues, catering and other fundraising related tasks for upcoming events 
• May be asked to go to occasional events dependent on location ​

We are now seeking a new Chair of the Board to lead the next phase of the Association’s development.

The Chair plays a pivotal role in shaping the direction, influence and effectiveness of the eAA.

What you’ll be doing

As Chair, you will:

Provide strategic leadership

• Lead the Board in setting the strategic direction of the Association and monitoring progress against agreed objectives.

Ensure strong governance

Ensure the Association operates within its governance framework and complies with all statutory and fiduciary duties.
Foster a positive, inclusive and professional Board culture that encourages open discussion, diverse perspectives and collective decision-making.
Work closely with the Vice-Chair and other Directors to maintain continuity and effective governance processes.
Support and challenge the Executive

• Provide support, guidance and constructive challenge to the CEO and operations team.

• Review budgets, management accounts and strategic plans in collaboration with the Treasurer and executive team.

Represent and advocate

• Act as an ambassador for the Association with members, partners, sponsors and external stakeholders.

Essential experience and attributes

• Senior leadership experience within assessment, education or educational technology.
• A strong understanding of assessment principles and the role of technology in transforming assessment practice.
• Demonstrated Board-level governance experience, ideally within a company limited by guarantee, charity or membership organisation.
• Excellent chairing and facilitation skills, with the ability to lead a diverse Board effectively.

Blean Woods is part of a network of woodland surrounding Canterbury that comprises one of the largest blocks of continuous woodland in Kent.

Seasalter Levels is a newly restored wetland to the west of Whitstable that will develop into a key part of an internationally important landscape of lowland wet grassland habitat across North Kent.

As part of this volunteer placement you will be volunteering 3 days a week for 6 months, working across both reserves. You will have a say in your own development with a personal mentor, and we will do our best to accommodate if there are specific areas of interest you would like to work on.

The main emphasis of this placement is to build both your practical skills and ecological knowledge. Developing an understanding of nature reserve management will help you work towards a career in conservation. You will work alongside our experienced team to create and enhance habitats for key species, including nightingales, heath fritillary butterflies, hazel dormice, and lapwings. You will engage in practical habitat tasks such as coppicing, managing livestock, and invasive species control within Blean Woods and scrub control and hydrological management at our Seasalter reserve.

You will have the opportunity to meet different people and to develop your leadership skills through running volunteer work parties, motivating and inspiring participants to actively contribute to our conservation work.

All the necessary training and background information will be provided and paid for and since you’ll be giving up your time, it’s only fair that we cover all reasonable travel expenses, within a 25 mile radius.

By supporting local and national fundraising activity, you will help ensure that NCI stations can continue to operate effectively. Your contribution will directly support the volunteers on watch who provide a crucial extra set of eyes along the coast, helping to prevent incidents and assist emergency services when needed.

What you will be doing:

As a volunteer station supporter fundraiser, you will be involved in your stations fundraising activities, including:

• Attending local fundraising events and community activities organised by your station
• Manning stalls at events, shows, and public spaces
• Collecting, checking, and emptying donation boxes in agreed locations
• Assisting with simple fundraising initiatives organised by your local station
• Helping to promote NCI within the local community and encouraging public support

This role is ideal for someone looking to gain experience, confidence, and skills while supporting a coastal water safety charity. Would be beneficial to be located near to an NCI station, or reasonable travelling disctance from a station. Would need to hold a driving licence for travelling to and from events.
