The National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) has a new opportunity for four lay Trustees and two clinical to join its team! Currently the Board is made up of 12 Trustees and you
will be replacing those who have completed their time in position.
NEBDN is a leading provider of qualifications for dental nurses in the UK. As a registered charity, its been examining and awarding dental nursing qualifications for over 75 years!
What will you be doing?
• Preparing for and attending approximately six meetings of the Board each year.
• Attending NEBDN’s AGM/conference each year.
• Being a member of, and participating in, one of its subcommittees – this will include a mixture
of face-to-face meetings, teleconferences/video conferencing, and work outside the meetings.
• Attending the annual strategic planning day. (usually held in October each year)
• Ad hoc assistance as required.

Time and commitment

Experience
At present we are especially interested to hear from applicants with expertise in Financial
Management and would hope to make at least one appointment in this area. We would also
welcome applications from those who have a background in Dental nursing, Dentistry/Clinical
Professional, Marketing, Business, Education or Law.
As a Trustee you will be expected to have knowledge of the industry in which you work and be
willing to learn and contribute to the changing factors of dental nursing education.

About the role
The Chapter body is the custodian of the Cathedral and its precincts, and we are dedicated to the care and conservation of these wonderful assets, so they may enrich lives for centuries to come.
As a non-executive member of Chapter and trustee, your role will be critical to the leadership of the Cathedral.
As a member of Cathedral Chapter, the Chair of the Finance Committee will work strategically to support Chapter in ensuring good financial oversight and will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Finance Officer to enable the effective financial management of the Cathedral. This will include developing a financial plan to align with any revised strategy, overseeing effective governance, budget planning, information management and reporting. In addition, this role has oversight of the Cathedral’s investment portfolio.
The Chapter is the Board of Trustees for the Cathedral, a registered charity, and has the ultimate responsibility for directing and overseeing its affairs – as a place of worship and a community of service, as a significant building and a heritage site of remarkable beauty, as a venue for events and as a globally recognised destination for pilgrims and visitors.
Members of Chapter come from a variety of backgrounds and seek to work collegially in their leadership and responsibilities as they take forward the ministry and mission of a Cathedral which has been servicing Wells and the County of Somerset for almost 850 years.
The objects of the Chapter are:
a) to advance the Christian religion in accordance with the faith and practice of the Church of England, in particular by furthering the mission of the Church of England;
b) to care for and conserve the fabric and structure of the Cathedral Church building;
c) to advance any other charitable purposes which are ancillary to the furtherance of the purpose referred to in sub-paragraph (a) or (b).
Who we are looking for
With considerable background in finance as either an executive leader or leader of a specialist finance function, the next Chair of the Finance Committee and Chapter Member will be committed to working with the other members of Chapter as they develop the strategy and plans to bring the mission and vision of the Cathedral to life.
They will understand the role of good governance and shared leadership in a complex organisation and will be able to contribute to the wider agenda of the Cathedral as well as lead on finance.
They will have wisdom and kindness in their leadership and enjoy motivating and developing the team around them. People from all areas of the organisation will find them approachable as they stretch thinking and share ideas.
They will be committed to learning and growing with other members of Chapter and personally as the Cathedral develops into its newly established charity status.
The ability to untangle complex figures and interpret them to others who may not be financially minded is key in this role. A strong financial background is essential, together with the ability to challenge and assimilate views to operate collegially whilst being mindful of the Cathedral environment and governance requirements.
Non-executive members of Chapter will be communicant members of the Church of England, or of a church with which it is in communion. Further information is set out in the Cathedrals Measure 2021 and from Rule 83(2) of the Church Representation Rules*. You could be the Chair-designate of Reading Community Learning Centre, a charity serving the needs of local refugee, asylum-seeking and migrant women. Vacancy - Chair of the Board of Trustees Barbara Bus Fund, Stanmore
The Barbara Bus Fund is recruiting for a new Chairperson.
The Barbara Bus Fund is a registered charity, which was set up in 1968 to help people who cannot get out or use public transport or an ordinary car, because they have a disability that necessitates full-time use of a wheelchair.
Today the BBF operates a fleet of 15 specially converted vehicles from Stanmore, Aylesbury and North Wales. The BBF is operated by a combination of paid and volunteer staff with head office at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.
The role of Chair is a voluntary position with the requirement to commit to one to two days per month, attend online meetings every 6-8 weeks and the AGM. The Chair will lead the Board of Trustees, chair committee meetings and the AGM.
Previous trustee / charity experience is required and the commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. Previous experience within the health / care / transport sectors will be a distinct advantage however, other relevant experience and the right attributes will also be considered.

Trustee duties
Trustees are the people who lead our charity and decide how it is run. We envisage the trustee duties broadly as:
- Support and provide advice on EIDA’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.
- Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
- Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
- Oversee EIDA’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
- Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
- Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
- Review and approve EIDA’s financial statements.
- Provide support and challenge to EIDA’s CEO.
- Keep abreast of changes in EIDA’s operating environment.
- Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect EIDA’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third-party interests.
- Participate in periodic appraisals of the performance of the Board of Trustees, collectively and individually.
- Represent EIDA at external functions, meetings and events.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will contribute to the diversity of thinking on our board.

Terms of appointment
Position: Trustee
Location: This is a hybrid role, with occasional travel required to Board and network meetings held in central London
Terms: A maximum fixed term appointment of one three-year term followed by a further three-year term
This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
Time commitment: EIDA’s Board of Trustees meets 4-5 times a year within the working hours of 10-5pm. Currently meetings are held in London and remotely (Zoom).

Camberwell After School Project is looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Treasurer to support this award winning children's charity which has provided a nurturing and positive childcare experience to many children for almost 40 years.
The Tresurer will oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
The post holder will also be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the financial health of the organisation to the Board of Trustees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with relevant employees, committee members and/or volunteers to ensure the financial viability of the organisation.
- Ensure fellow Trustees are aware of their financial obligations and take a lead in interpreting financial data to them.
- Regularly report the financial position at Trustee meetings (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc).
- Oversee the production of an annual budget and propose its adoption at the last meeting of the previous financial year.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures and controls are in place, ie:
- Cheque signatories
- Purchasing limits
- Purchasing systems
- Salary payments
- Pensions
- PAYE and NI payments
- Others as appropriate
- Appraising the financial viability of plans, proposals and feasibility studies.
- Lead on appointing and liaising with auditors/an independent examiner.
- Oversee the finance records on Xero ensuring posting and bookkeeping is kept up-to-date.
- Regularly carry out reconciliations/ oversee regular reconciliations by the Finance Officer.
- Authorise payments to creditors as appropriate and arrange appropriate signatures on payments.

Following the decision by the Boards of all 28 London Citizens Advice charities to create a new and consortium, London Citizens Advice are seeking Trustees.
For the past two years London Citizens Advice has worked as an immensely successful informal coalition. On 27 February 2024 the Boards of the 28 London Citizens Advice charities approved the decision to transfer to a legal entity including registration with regulatory bodies and the draft Articles of the new charity.
We are looking for energetic, talented and committed individuals to join us as trustees.
The new charity will have up to twelve trustees. Five will be member trustees (one local citizens advice trustee for a London region), four independent trustees including the Chair of Trustees, and up to three co-opted trustees.
London Citizens Advice is a membership consortium of 28 Citizens Advice charities delivering advice services across London. Each of our members is a member of the national Citizens Advice network of around 250 charities. When we become legally constituted, we will be a consortium member of the Citizens Advice network.
London Citizens Advice exists to support and develop the work of local Citizens Advice, through adopting the following aims:
- Share, promote and assure best practice to build consistency and quality of the Citizens Advice Service
- Manage specified contracts on behalf of external partners in conjunction with agreed participating members.

Role Description
We are looking to appoint an Honorary Treasurer who will bring new energy, new ideas, new perspectives, and challenge to enhance our financial management and development as a charity.
The Treasurer will be a Trustee and Director (SPAEDA is a charity and a company limited by guarantee) with particular responsibility to the Board for:
- Fulfilling the same role as any Trustee and Director
- Working closely with the Chair on issues relating to regulation and good governance
- Monitoring the financial administration of the charity and advising fellow trustees on all matters financial
- Overseeing the charity's financial risk-management
- Acting as a counter signatory to SPAEDA's bank accounts and as necessary on applications to funders
- Liaising with our accountants, particularly in supporting the production of the annual accounts

Role Overview
We are a small charity and handle a moderate number of transactions each month using an online accounts package (Xero). We have an online bookings system handled through our website and online payments system (STRIPE). Book-keeping is managed in house by the Business Manager. Monthly payments approval would be required, supporting the preparation of quarterly management accounts. More input in March and April for preparation of the year end accounts and additional support in January - February would be welcomed to develop budgets, templates and invoice codes for the coming year.
Routinely, we look to our Treasurer for:
Monthly - Approval of online payments, review of management accounts and reserves, monitoring cash flow
Quarterly - Preparation of board reports (quarterly management accounts), review of reserves, preparation of latest estimate
Annually - Preparation of annual budget and draft accounts for independent review
On a Project Basis - Supporting our Director and Business Manager with financial aspects of bids and applications – project budgets, customised spreadsheets and assisting with reporting templates and coding of invoices (as new projects start)
Our financial year runs from 1st April – 31st March with the reporting deadline of 31st December.
