SCM is looking for a recent graduate to spend a year working with us to help us to continue to build on the work of our successful Faith in Action project. 

Run in partnership with Project Bonhoeffer, a small charitable trust, the project began in 2012 with a vision that Christian students in Britain would have a greater awareness and understanding of Bonhoeffer’s radical approach to faith and discipleship, and its implications for Christian living in the modern world. 

The project has helped to run over a dozen campaigns from Food Poverty to Peace, and had an immeasurable impact on thousands of students through blogs, resources, and relationships. All of this is bringing to light many ‘Bonhoeffers’ of today negotiating the implications on Christian living in the world.

In 2021 we developed the Faith in Action project as a graduate scheme by employing two graduates to work on the project; one to lead on theology bringing a depth of learning and theological refection, and the other to be a campaigns lead, taking us always back out into the world to make a difference.

The project has been very successful, and now we are looking to grow it for further. We are looking for a passionate graduate to join the project for the 2025-26 academic year.

In this role, you will be a theologian to make other theologians, and will provide the framework for students to be able to reflect theologically on their life and modern Christian Living. You will be responsible for growing the breadth of SCM’s Faith in Action resources, and discovering new ways of connecting with the current membership via the trends of social media or engaging in face-to-face reflections. An activist to make other activists, you will coordinate social action for SCM, engaging the membership in social justice projects that maximise our impact in society and the world.

You will work to build relationships between SCM communities and members to equip students with the skills they need to become faith-filled agents of social and political change and lead them in theological reflection to discern their involvement in local and national campaigns. You will also work to develop relationships with other Christian social justice and campaigning organisations to create opportunities for students to put their faith into action. In all of this, you will be supported by our small but perfectly-formed team, who will share your values and fully understand your aims in this project.

The role will require some travel within Britain, as well as semi-regular visits to the office in Birmingham, which may also include an overnight stay. All reasonable expenses for travel and accommodation will be reimbursed. Some evening and weekend work may be required for which time off in lieu will be given.

Key Responsibilities 

GENERAL MARKETING
To work closely with the Head of Marketing and Head of Trading and relevant teams to:

• Contribute to the development and delivery of their commercial marketing plans, aligning with their wider marketing activities and brand guidelines
• Define and segment target audiences – both business and customers – and reach them through the most effective marketing channels 
• Work proactively with their artistic team to identify opportunities for commercial activities that add value to customer experience, flagging these for consideration by the commercial teams and devising/delivering related B2C campaigns to drive return on investment (ROI)
• Develop their commercial Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and leverage customer behaviour insights to drive loyalty, repeat visits, and meaningful engagement. 
• Analysing CRM data, particularly in relation to booking behaviours, to capitalise on opportunities to support client loyalty, retention and repeat bookings (including memberships)
• Develop high quality digital/offline assets to support the full client/booking journey
• Monitor key metrics – socials engagement, footfall, new leads, repeat bookings and conversion - and adapt strategies to maximise impact. 
• To work with external suppliers e.g. printers, mailing houses, designers and advertisers to secure and fulfil high quality opportunities at competitive rates (small-scale design work may be required)

PROMOTING THEIR VENUE HIRE OFFER

• Champion them as a premium venue for conferences, meetings and creative event hires. 
• Create compelling content for B2B promotion of their venue hire offer, prioritising meetings and conferencing. These may include activities such as
• Developing regular targeted B2B marketing campaigns via email marketing, LinkedIn content, case studies and print in close liaison with the commercial hires team and measuring effectiveness through ROI and related analytics
• Keeping their venue hire web content fresh, engaging and up to date, including putting hire events live and keeping food menus and venue hire packages up to date. 
• Maintain their presence across relevant venue hire listings, directories and event platforms

CATERING AND RETAIL

• Devise and deliver comprehensive and compelling on-site and digital marketing campaigns to support targeted B2C promotion of their catering and retail offer, driving engagement and sales to support key operational periods (such as school holidays) and measuring effectiveness through ROI and related analytics. These activities may include
• Sourcing and producing high quality signage/point of sale display, seasonal menu designs, promotional print, direct mail in line with their brand guidelines
• Tailoring marketing assets to enhance customer experience of their catering and retail offer, recognising the different motivations of each customer segment
• Ensure the  Food & Drink and Retail sections of their website are always looking their best and showcasing what’s new in an appealing way.  
• Engaging with local influencers, community groups and potential promotional partners to enhance reach and credibility   

Person Specification
Essential 

• A creative, organised and data-savvy marketer with experience running integrated campaigns
• Understanding of both B2B and B2C marketing landscapes and can pivot between them with ease.
• Experience of B2B marketing, particularly in promoting services to corporate or professional audiences

NDAS provides support to all victims who have been the subject of domestic abuse/violence, supports them through the criminal justice system and offers relevant advice and assistance, both practical and emotional.

Purpose of the job

 You will be an important member of the Senior Management Team, supporting the CEO to drive income growth. To be successful in this role you will be a strategic thinker who is highly organised, adaptable and flexible, able to inspire campaigns, appeals and experiences to drive income growth across a range of platforms and linking in potential support to the work of NDAS.

 Key Accountabilities

1. You will work with the CEO to maintain and implement the Fundraising Strategy.

3. You are accountable for the management, performance and reporting on all income strands.

4. You will work with the CEO to produce a bi-monthly Funding Overview report and projected Income Generation Plans for consideration by the Finance Sub-Group and to be reported to the Board

 1. Planning, implementing and driving forwards the Fundraising Strategy with a focus on expanding the range and size of income sources.

2. Identify new funding streams from Trusts, Statutory agencies and corporates, and submit funding bids.

Working closely with the Superintendent minister, circuit ministers and Lay officers the Governance and Administration Manager will ensure that the circuit and individual churches fulfill their governance obligations within Methodist Policy and Charity Law. This will include: GDPR, Safeguarding and Property and Finance management. S/He will also help to develop new ways of working using information and communication technology to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the circuit. The post will be office-based but there will be some flexibility with hours and the possibility of one day a week working from home. The postholder will need to respond to queries on the phone including requests for baptisms and funerals and pass on information appropriately. As we approach our 30th anniversary, we are committed to ensuring every woman and child affected by domestic abuse has the mental health support they need to recover from the trauma of the abuse. Our work is vital in preventing further harm and breaking the cycle of intergenerational trauma.

We are looking for someone with a strong news sense and experience in Press and Public Relations. You will have a demonstrable background of proactively getting organisations involved in the public conversations that matter – while reflecting the confidential nature and sensitivities around domestic abuse and mental health. We aim to proactively generate more awareness of our work and its impact, including our unique position in the women’s and mental health sectors.

The role will be responsible for proactive and reactive media relations; effective engagement on social media; developing engaging content for our website; drafting copy for and producing marketing materials, including our e-newsletter. A highly autonomous role, you will work closely with our Chief Executive, fundraising, counselling, and research teams. You will also be engaging regularly with the Board of trustees, supporting our Chief Executive in our work and mission.

Our ideal candidate would also have experience of working on press and awareness campaigns; and the ability to create content on social media in line with branding guidelines. Experience in developing communications strategies and reporting on Key Performance Indicators would be preferred.

We’re looking for a high performing, creative and driven Digital Manager to work in our communications and marketing department on a temporary basis, to drive all areas of Family Fund’s digital work.  You’ll develop digital strategies and campaigns that improve conversion with our key audiences, raise vital income and boost brand profile.  You’ll also provide expert advice on the evolution of our digital channels and communications, to ensure we keep pace with fast-changing digital developments. 

The person we’re looking for 

To be considered for this role you’ll need to evidence significant experience managing and improving the performance of digital channels (including social media, e-marketing and websites) using analytics to inform decision-making. You should have specialist knowledge of digital across a range of techniques and have experience in managing paid-for digital advertising budgets and campaigns. With experience using Content Management Systems (CMS) and of platform analytics tools including Google Analytics, Facebook and X, you should have a sound understanding of an integrated approach to digital marketing and knowledge of data protection best practice and legislation.

A confident communicator with strong analytical, literacy and numeracy skills, you’ll be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a wider team. In 2024, we gave out 12,147 food parcels.  Sadly, this is almost double the number in given out in 2020.  In addition to providing food and basic toiletries, we try to understand the situation of the people referred to us so that we can signpost them to other organisations where appropriate, in order to give a helping hand through a crisis.

Main duties & Responsibilities

The manager has overall responsibility for the operation of the foodbank, ensuring that we are able to meet the needs of clients facing food poverty crisis. The role is wide-ranging and varied and responsibilities include:

· Primary contact for our parent organisation, Trussell

· Accountable to the Trustees, who have ultimate accountability for the Foodbank

· Volunteer and employee management

· Ensuring there are sufficient donations of food, toiletries, etc, and also financial donations

· Meeting clients’ needs through managing distribution of food parcels including oversight of the warehouse, distribution centres & signposting

· Recruiting and developing volunteers (and any approved employees)

· Building key external relationships with key referral agencies, local forums and networks

· PR & Communications – representing the foodbank externally, raising the profile of food poverty and lobbying for those in need

· Quality assurance & compliance

· Strategic leadership and process improvement

A strong understanding of fundraising methods and supporter motivations is essential, as is your ability to communicate charity impact to diverse audiences. You will bring creativity, innovation, and a flexible, problem-solving mindset. Experience in trust and corporate prospect research, and familiarity with fundraising databases and relevant regulations is desirable.

Overview of the Philanthropy Manager role and the team

Barnabas Aid is seeking a proactive and experienced Philanthropy Manager to join our International Outreach team. This new role is integral to ensuring the growth and sustainability of our work through regular or one time organisational and personal donations. The Philanthropy Manager will develop and implement a comprehensive strategy in support of this, targeting potential supporters who wish to leave a lasting impact through Barnabas’ work. The role will involve cultivating relationships with current and prospective organisational and private UK based and international supporters, overseeing communications and marketing strategies, and ensuring that Barnabas Aid’s fund raising programme is promoted effectively across all channels.

As part of a dynamic fundraising team, the Philanthropy Manager will work closely with the Head of Campaigns, the Living Streams Officer, and the Head of Communications. The role will also involve engagement with donors, ensuring that Barnabas Aid is at the forefront of supporters' minds when it comes to making donations or leaving a legacy for future generations of Christians in need.

Main duties and responsibilities

 

• Fund Raising Strategy:
  •  Develop and implement a comprehensive donation, legacy marketing and stewardship strategy, with the aim of increasing the number of organisational, regular and one-off individual donations in addition to legacy gifts to Barnabas Aid.
  • Adherence to the Code of Fundraising Practice within this strategy.
• Fund Raising Marketing:
  • Create and execute marketing campaigns that inspire organisations and supporters to consider making one off or regular donations to Barnabas Aid. This will include writing promotional materials, organising events, and developing digital campaigns to raise awareness of the variety of ways of making donations and legacy giving.
• Donor Stewardship:
  • Cultivate relationships with existing and prospective donors, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated.
  • Provide regular updates and tailored communications to supporters to ensure long-term engagement and support.
• Engagement & Retention:
  • Work to retain donors by developing a robust stewardship programme that encourages ongoing involvement and loyalty.

JOB SUMMARY:

 To deputise for IMC UK Director of Finance and work closely with budget holders and counterparts in Split and LA to provide 'real time' support and analysis, that will assist budget holders and IMC UK in decision-making.

Manage the day to day financial activities of International Medical Corps UK with specific focus on financial management, budgeting and corporate financial planning, and ensuring that the finance team is achieving expected deliverables timely and accurately. 

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning

1. Active participation in drafting IMC UK annual budget for board of Trustees approval.

2. Monthly Updates of Rolling Forecast of IMC UK corporate costs. As the responsible finance officer train and regularly collaborate with Budget Managers to ensure that corporate forecasts are accurate, relevant and reliable by ensuring that; b), to confirm that:

2.1.  Staff cost projections – work in collaboration with HR team to ensure that IMC UK staff projections include  hire plans, transfer plans, allocation plans, field deployment, terminations, promotions etc.

2.2 HQ Non Labour Cost Projections – monthly review and cost projections should be updated to reflect IMC UK’s latest plans; For example, Travel budgets should be updated if no travel has taken place during the month and not likely to happen in next 2 months. Professional fees - are there valid consultancy agreements in place or is it still in the pipeline and the lag should be built into.

2.3. Provide SFD with latest IMC UK corporate expenditure position with the following details:

 - Movement on IMC UK costs vs IMC costs

 - Breakdown of fixed costs vs variable costs under IMC UK pipeline

 - New positions projected and salary costs allocations;

 - Service fee analysis by departments and seek explanations on movements from HQ teams of IMC UK affiliates;

 - Work with SFD to ensure IMC UK SMT approval on service fees is obtained;

Financial Control

3. Bookkeeping. Ensure that accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank & general ledger modules are maintained timely & accurately. Ensure that the following are available on file:

3.1. Monthly reconciliation of  payroll data,

3.2. Reconciliation of other control accounts including payroll, accruals, prepayment;

4. Internal Control & Regulations.  Ensure that all relevant procedures are maintained in relation  to a) Procurement process, b) Financial procedures & approvals, c) Sanctions checks d) HMRC Tax - Payroll, Dispensation & VAT tax issues and e) Pensions are adhered to.

4.1. Finance manager shall prepare, plan and deliver training to all relevant staff members on IMC UK's financial,  approval  and allocation processes.

4.2. Maintain an exceptions register with incidences where the proper procedures have not been observed.

5. Banking & Cash Projections. To monitor and update the Finance Director on

5.1 IMC UK banking and sanctions compliance requirements are updated and adhered to;

5.2 IMC UK Cash requirements projections are updated on a monthly basis on the last day of the month;

5.3 intercompany settlements are reviewed and undertaken on a timely manner

5.4  Summary of bank charges by IMC UK bankers are monitored  on a regular basis;

6. FOREX.

6.1.  Work with finance team to ensure that funds in other currencies are transferred into IMC UK functional currency – USD on an urgent basis. 

6.2 liaise with IMC UK bankers to offer effective solutions for transfers to sanctioned countries;

7. Payroll. 

7.1 Staff Cost projections.  Proactively work with HR, to provide input on cost implications for new hires; and update IMC UK’s financial projections systems with cost projections on all changes including  salary changes, increment implementation, benefits and deductions, vacation leaves pay, off-boarding of employees, and pension management.

7.2.  Posting monthly payroll costs to the ledgers.

7.3. Regular monthly payroll reconciliation with differences shared with SFD.

8. Pensions.  –

8.1 Effectively manage IMC UK Pensions Plan contributions in collaboration with HR. 

8.2 Ensure  appropriate and timely pensions contributions are made to pension provider. 

9. Public Donations – with collaboration with the Fundraising team, ensure accurate classifications and coding of restricted & unrestricted funds received;  For new appeals request for finance codes from IMC Finance team.

Financial Reporting

10. Monthly SMT report.  Produce by set date with analysis on income projections, expenditure projections, corporate cost breakdown, donor payments receivables, donor disallowed costs, intercompany balances and variance analysis and clarifications from relevant teams.  The following reports are reviewed to prepare the monthly reports:

• Summary pipeline report

• Shortfall Reports

• DR GR Reports

• Summary of cash inflow in IMC UK bank accounts fortnightly;

• Intercompany balance

• Services fees

11. Quarterly Management Accounts.  Produce within set timeline for board distribution following FD review. The Quarterly Management Account should be accompanied with the following details:

11.1. Valid variance analysis with input from operations and International Finance team

11.2. Detailed breakdown of unrestricted funds received and sources and updated unrestricted income projection;

11.3. Summary of key events affecting the figures reported;

12. Assets –

12.1 Regular update of IMC UK Asset list and annual update to IMC UK asset list with obsolete items;

12.2 VfM is achieved through competitive bidding process

Statutory Audit

13. Provide active support and planning in annual statutory audit undertaken on the company accounts, including:

13.1 assist with drafting of the financial statements for audit;

13.2 analysing and reconciling the underlying reports for the audit preparations;

13.3 Create audit file with back-up transaction details;

1. 13.4 Liaise with other corporate offices to provide inputs;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• A recognized Accountancy qualification and/or related degree including a detailed technical knowledge of UK Financial legislation.

• Experience managing all aspects of financial statements from month end close to preparing financial statements / annual accounts and presentations for boards in a corporate headquarters environment

• Experience of working in the non-governmental sector at HQ level a plus Proven ability to lead, manage, motivate and develop a team; 

• Experience of working in a similar multi- HQ set-up an advantage.
