Closing date: 20th August 2026

Saferworld is an independent international organisation working to prevent violent conflict and build safer lives. We are seeking a People Coordinator (Maternity Cover) to play a central role in delivering a positive, consistent and supportive employee experience across our global team.

About the role

The People Coordinator provides high‑quality coordination and day‑to‑day delivery across Saferworld’s people function, supporting staff and managers throughout the employee lifecycle. You will be a key point of contact for HR coordination, staff wellbeing and employee experience, helping ensure our recruitment, onboarding, systems, policies and people processes run smoothly and effectively.

This role blends operational HR support with systems and process coordination. You will help maintain accurate people data, strengthen ways of working, support organisational wellbeing initiatives and contribute to a positive, values driven culture.

Key responsibilities

Employee Lifecycle Coordination

  • Lead end‑to‑end coordination of recruitment, onboarding, induction, probation, contract changes, leave processes and exits.
  • Prepare job adverts, arrange interviews, support shortlisting and manage candidate communication.
  • Coordinate induction arrangements and deliver a quarterly global induction programme.
  • Maintain accurate HR documentation, trackers and staff files, ensuring timely and compliant processes.
  • Review and improve lifecycle processes to enhance efficiency, consistency and staff experience.
  • Administer staff benefit schemes and coordinate annual renewals.

Staff Wellbeing, Engagement and Employee Relations

  • Act as a first point of contact for HR, wellbeing and employee experience queries.
  • Coordinate wellbeing initiatives and support continuous improvement of our wellbeing offer.
  • Work with the Head of People to manage external wellbeing providers and workshops.
  • Support staff engagement activities and work collaboratively with staff representatives.
  • Provide first‑line employee relations support and coordinate casework, ensuring accurate records.
  • Support parental leave, keep‑in‑touch arrangements and other employee experience processes.

HR Systems, Processes and Policy Support

  • Maintain People systems (including Cascade), ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
  • Coordinate people data, monthly reporting and routine updates.
  • Support development and rollout of People policies, templates and guidance.
  • Manage wellbeing and People content on SharePoint and internal platforms.
  • Provide content for staff communications, including monthly people updates.
  • Support implementation of audit recommendations and process improvements.

Payroll, Compliance and People Operations

  • Work closely with Finance to ensure payroll changes are captured accurately and on time.
  • Support preparation and checking of final pay and employee change documentation.
  • Help ensure compliance with Saferworld policies, standards and employment legislation.
  • Monitor deadlines and coordinate routine People activities, including contract administration, leave tracking and training records.
  • Support procurement and administration linked to wellbeing and people initiatives.

Learning, Coordination and Cross‑Organisational Support

  • Support identification of learning and development needs and coordinate training activities.
  • Build strong working relationships across country programmes and global teams.
  • Contribute to People projects, organisational priorities and improvements to staff experience.
  • Provide flexible support to wider team priorities as required.

About you

You will bring:

  • Experience in HR coordination or a similar people‑focused role.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive, supportive and confidential approach to working with staff and managers.
  • Confidence using HR systems and managing people data.
  • A commitment to staff wellbeing, positive employee experience and Saferworld’s values.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and cultures.

Why join us?

You’ll be part of a friendly, values‑driven People Team committed to improving staff experience and wellbeing across a global organisation. This role offers variety, autonomy and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to how we support our people.
