The Switch Charity is looking for a dynamic, organised person with experience and a passion for supporting young people. Our Project Coordinator role is key to the success of our mission, helping prepare for, deliver, and evaluate our employability activities that help raise young people’s career aspirations.

You will be pivotal in the successful preparation, delivery and evaluation of our career development activities and  programmes. You will coordinate projects with our schools and sixth form colleges, communicating with a range of stakeholders including school staff, students and business volunteers. You will help ensure the smooth running of our programme delivery work and demonstrate the positive impact our charity has on thousands of young people in Tower Hamlets every year.

You will see our young people grow before your eyes and be contributing to their better future.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

 1. To support the successful delivery of projects, activities and events, through the successful management of event logistics, communications, and resource preparation. Projects, activities and events include: Primary School Financial Literacy workshops, Core Programmes for Key Stages 3 to 5, Industry Insight Days, Bespoke Workplace visits, Mentoring and Future Skills.

2. Liaise with volunteers, external facilitators, school administrative and teaching staff on school projects as needed, in the pre- and post-event stage.

3. Attend in-person events in the borough (in both schools and workplaces) to assist with delivery, volunteer management and event logistics.

4. Compile data and reports on business and volunteer activity as directed by the Senior Project Manager on the Secondary Team. Work with the wider team to produce annual impact reports and volunteer data reports on specific projects, highlighting key achievements and areas for improvement.

5. The post has specific responsibility for the areas outlined in this document. These areas may change as the nature of projects or funding changes over time.

What is it like to work for us?

As a small charity we are able to provide a great work-life balance with early finishes on Fridays, Christmas shut down, training opportunities, a friendly office near Spitalfields, and a cash-back health plan.

This role is predominantly office based. You would work in the office or at an event location in East London usually 4 days per week. You would usually be able to WFH one day per week, typically Fridays.

About You

You don't need to have done exactly this job before — but you do need to have done something like it. You're someone who can set a strategy and still get your hands dirty. You've probably managed a freelancer or consultant before. You've built relationships with funders or partners when resources were tight, not abundant. And most importantly, you actually want to build something — not just keep an existing programme ticking over.

Experience with trusts and foundations fundraising, youth or family support work, or a background moving from a founder-led organisation toward distributed leadership would all be a bonus, though none are essential.

You will manage a small, targeted caseload, guiding participants through their journey from building initial confidence to securing inclusive volunteering placements, work experience, and paid employment.

The Role

We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and hands-on Digital Marketing Officer to join our Marketing & Communications team during an exciting period of growth and development for FareShare Midlands.

Working closely with the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager and colleagues across our MarComms, Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships teams, you will help us reach new audiences, tell compelling stories about our impact and inspire people and organisations to support our work.

This is a varied role with plenty of opportunity to develop your digital marketing skills. You will work across our website, social media, Google Ads, email marketing and digital campaigns, as well as helping us capture and share powerful video-led stories from across FareShare Midlands.

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Programme Officer to join our team, taking ownership of programme delivery while also building the systems and structures that help our programmes grow. You’ll join as a senior member of our programmes team, taking a leadership role across our programme design and delivery, as well as contributing to the strategic direction of our work with young people. You’ll report to our Programme Manager.

This role will involve:

Programme Management

• You’ll take ownership of end-to-end delivery across multiple programmes, managing recruitment, onboarding and logistics.
• You’ll independently scope, plan and deliver programmes, setting clear milestones and flagging early where timelines or expectations need to shift.
• You’ll recruit, onboard and manage volunteers, ensuring we deliver a great volunteer experience and maximising impact for our young people.
• You’ll work with our Programme Manager to scope and deliver strategic projects across the programmes team, using data, feedback and learning to improve our programmes over time and looking for opportunities to strengthen our systems, processes and quality.

Programme Delivery

• You’ll provide 1:1 support to young people, checking in on their progress and goals, and offering advice, support and accountability throughout their journey.
• You’ll design and deliver training for young people, alongside information sessions and training for our corporate partners and volunteers. This will include taking ownership of specific content areas, and supporting more junior team members to build confidence and consistency in facilitation.
• You’ll uphold a rigorous approach to safeguarding, making sure the welfare of the young people we support is prioritised throughout our work.

Stakeholder Engagement

• You’ll lead stakeholder engagement at all levels, from scheduling volunteering days with corporate partners, to checking in with employer partners on how young people are progressing in their roles.
• You’ll support youth engagement and outreach activity where needed.

Team Contribution and Leadership

What we're looking for

We’re especially interested in candidates with demonstrable experience owning programme delivery and managing others, alongside strengths in areas like curriculum development, volunteer management, or monitoring and evaluation. You don’t need to have worked in youth employment or the charity sector before, but a commitment to our mission and good understanding of the barriers to work faced by young people from low-income backgrounds is essential.

This is an experienced hire role, and we’re looking for someone with solid professional experience, including some prior experience managing or mentoring others, who can apply sound judgement and hold real ownership in a fast-moving environment. You don’t need to have a degree.

How we work 

We’re a small but fast-growing team. You’ll join our staff team (and office dog, Annie) working day-to-day in the business, but will also engage with young people, our funders and partners, our Board, and many of the amazing volunteers who help us deliver our programme.

We use Slack, Notion and Claude day-to-day to keep in touch and support our work across the team. Our team works together in-person at least three days a week at GoodWork HQ, our beautiful space on Warren Street in central London where we host events, deliver training and work with our community.

You’ll need to be able to attend occasional in-person events, including possible evening sessions for which time off in lieu will be given. You should also expect to attend regular in-person meetings with our London-based partners.

CHOICE IN HACKNEY is looking for an experienced and motivated Disability Employment Coach to support disabled people to move towards employment, volunteering, education and training, while developing the confidence, skills and practical strategies needed for sustainable employment.

You will provide one-to-one employment coaching, helping participants identify their strengths, aspirations and goals and develop personalised action plans. You will support people to overcome barriers to employment through practical coaching, encouragement, problem-solving and appropriate signposting.

You will also help plan and deliver CHOICE IN HACKNEY’s Job Club, creating accessible and engaging sessions that encourage confidence, peer learning and mutual support. Alongside this, you will develop relationships with employers, recruitment agencies, training providers and partner organisations to create opportunities for disabled people.

The role recognises that employment can take different forms. You will support participants to explore volunteering, work experience, apprenticeships, self-employment, social enterprise and entrepreneurship where appropriate. You will also provide suitable in-work support to promote job retention, workplace integration and career progression.

An important part of the post will be maintaining contact with programme alumni, monitoring longer-term employment, training and wellbeing outcomes and contributing to an active alumni network offering Job Club activities, peer support, mentoring and employer engagement.
