About the role:

We are seeking a Head of Operations to work with the CEO and senior leadership team to manage a broad scope of operational functions, including workplace governance, people management, digital support, data and risk management. The Head of Operations will be a collaborative and hands-on professional with project and people management skills, a track record of operational change management, and the ability to inspire colleagues in new ways of working that ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the Foundation - driving system, quality and process improvements.

Key areas of responsibility include:  

• Working with the CEO to deliver effective day-to-day operations for the organisation, managing the Operational Excellence Workstream and our approach to Quality.
• Oversee HR, culture and people function, including recruitment, retention, performance evaluation, employee learning & development, working with our external HR advisors when required.

• Lead on the management and implementation of safeguarding - ensuring appropriate policies, training and guidance are regularly reviewed.
• Support the CEO in maintaining strong governance and adherence to best practices in charity governance and reporting, including keeping the risk register up to date and progressing actions.
• Produce management reports for the CEO and Trustees as required, supporting the Annual Report & Accounts production and Board of Trustees administration.
• Oversee cyber security and coordinate IT support services, including the Foundation’s IT and digital platforms – maintaining licenses, agreements and contracts.

Essential knowledge, skills & experience include:

• Previous experience in a Senior Operations management role, preferably in a charity or not-for-profit setting
• Strong leadership qualities to lead operations and fulfil an executive function
• Reliable with a high level of discretion and integrity – able to deal with sensitive and confidential matters
• Excellent IT and digital skills including Microsoft Office 365. Skilled in using workplace systems including Teams and SharePoint
• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Experience of managing compliance and risk, including safeguarding and GDPR – able to identify and respond to organisational risks
• Exceptional people management and coaching skills with experience of managing HR and L&D functions
• Excellent project management and organisational skills, able to multi-task with attention to detail

Job Purpose

To support, promote and deliver the strategy of World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (hereafter WAGGGS) within the Europe Region, by working with the Europe Regional Committee to ensure the delivery of the region’s value proposition to Member Organisations (MOs). To lead WAGGGS operations in the Europe Region, to ensure the effective liaison between the region and the wider organisation, and in partnership with national Member Organisations (MOs) and external partners, when applicable, to achieve the objectives of regional action plan.

Key Responsibilities:

1. In conjunction with the Regional Committee finalize, implement and monitor the 2025 Regional Action Plan to ensure the delivery of WAGGGS Global Strategy at a regional level.

2. Under the framework of WAGGGS Global Strategy, work in collaboration with the Regional Committee to develop the Europe Region Triennial Action Plan 2026- 2029 and a strong consultation process with Member Organisations to include the Europe Voluntary Contribution review.

3. In conjunction with the Head of Finance and the Regional Committee Chair to propose and develop a budget to deliver the Europe Triennial Regional Action Plan,and undertake the active monitoring and management of the regional budget.

4. To be the project lead for the European Volunteer Contribution Review team of Regional Committee and staff members.

5. In conjunction with the Regional Committee, and in consultation with the Head of Membership and Regional Support, to manage relationships with external stakeholders in the region.

6. In partnership with the Regional Committee, ensure the delivery of WAGGGS Europe Region regional events, in particular the 2025 WAGGGS Europe Regional Conference (Austria, July 2025) with responsibility for:

          • Strategic goals of the conference or event

          • Objectives of the event

          • Programme and content of the event

         • Recruitment and activation of volunteers to support delivery of the event

         • Liaise with event planning team to ensure appropriate logistical support for conference or event

Breaking Barriers’ relationship with corporate partners is the USP upon which our growth and success as an organisation has been built. The Head of Corporate Partnerships has accountability for generating income, impact and influence from the private sector, and for leading a high-performing team to achieve ambitious growth and scale for refugees around the UK.

As Breaking Barriers has grown from a start-up organisation to a now 60-strong team raising c. £4m and supporting more than 1,200 refugees annually, our corporate partnerships have expanded beyond our original London base to be nationwide partnerships with a wide range of businesses and employers. Our corporate partners have been crucial in enabling our growth and will be crucial to delivering upon the ambition of our 2030 goals. The Head of Corporate Partnerships is an essential role that will make this ambition a reality.

You will lead a team to deliver outstanding partnerships management of a range of strategic and multi-faceted relationships with a portfolio of c.50 businesses alongside leading strategy for business development. Leading by example you will own a number of our key relationships to drive growth, whilst bringing your experience to bear to coach your team and ensure structures and processes are in place to enable high performance.

Principle Duties and Areas of Responsibility

Operational Leadership and Governance

• Overall accountability for the operations of the foundation
• Oversee and optimise internal processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and productivity
• Evaluate and improve overall performance by gathering, analysing and interpreting data and metrics
• Oversee robust risk management processes and protocols proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks
• Oversee the development of all necessary policies to ensure safe and healthy working environments
• Ensure FNF is compliant with all financial, tax, charity and legal requirements

Financial Management

• Oversee the development and monitoring of the financial strategy for the organisation, providing recommendations, information and guidance to the Trustees and Executive team to inform decision making
• Maintain and review polices and processes to ensure good financial controls are in place that meet both legal and tax requirements. This includes maintaining appropriate records and controls over restricted funds to ensure that these are used and reported appropriately
• Support the Finance Manager and Executive team in setting FNF’s annual budget, with robust analysis and justification of intended expenditure, financial forecasts, cashflow etc. securing active engagement and ownership from all internal budget holders
• Oversee the financial reports required to review progress against plans and forecasts throughout the year and ensuring these are disseminated and understood across the organisation
• Accountable for regular financial updates to Trustees including the Finance Investment Committee (FIC) and Board meetings along with the preparation of the financial aspects of the annual report and accounts
• Oversee the management and development of VAT reporting for FNF and trading subsidiary
• Oversee the financial aspect of FNF Global delivery to ensure compliance with HMRC

Systems and controls

• Lead in the development, implementation and monitoring of effective procurement systems and procedures, ensuring that FNF achieves best value and drives efficiencies through our external contracts
• Lead on the annual audit in accordance with current practice and the Charity Commissions Standard of Recommended Practice (SORP), liaising and managing the relationship with the auditors
• Oversee the operation of the payroll process and related HMRC contract ensuring that payments are made in an accurate and timely way
• Work with the Finance Committee to manage the investments for FNF, overseeing regular reviews of the investment policy and portfolio, liaising with external partners as necessary

Fundraising, Events, Marketing and Communications

• Provide leadership around income generation, making sure that this is located within the strategic framework and day to day thinking of the Foundation
• Provide leadership and direction for Marketing and Communications, ensuring that overall plans are in support of our strategic objectives
• Ensure all income generation activities from within this team are fully integrated across the Foundation, recognising the importance of inter departmental relationships
• Lead the team in the planning, communications, income generation and execution of the annual Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service and any similar high profile events.

Digital

• Provide strategic leadership in overseeing digital initiatives, guiding the development and execution of a comprehensive digital strategy

As part of Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Strategic Marketing Leadership Team, the Head of Marketing Planning plays a pivotal role in planning and integrating the charity’s marketing programmes to accelerate progress towards a cure.

The Strategic Marketing directorate lead collaboration across the charity to ensure a cohesive public facing narrative and marketing plan that will drive onward customer engagement and action. We do this through growing brand awareness, delivering excellence in digital capability and marketing, providing outstanding fundraising and marketing insight, and creating a single source of truth for marketing performance. The Head of Marketing Planning is responsible for driving planning and programme excellence across our marketing teams and initiatives that will support and increase informed collaboration. This role will have ownership of key planning and operating models that allows ARUK to deliver effective marketing programmes to achieve our goals. You will be responsible for proactively identifying opportunities to improve the effectiveness of our overall marketing programme.

Setting ourselves up for success

· Assess and prioritise the varying needs across the charity for greater marketing integration, improved planning, more consistent measurement and improved ways of working.

· Partner with fundraising, communications, campaigning, digital, brand and marketing teams to deliver a consolidated marketing plan across owned, shared, earned and paid media, championing planning principles and a collaborative approach to ensure opportunities are explored and integrated for maximum effect.

· Consult with key stakeholders to identify opportunities and gaps in our marketing skillset, putting plans in place to maximise emerging opportunities, for example with the Research community and healthcare professionals.

We operate a core hours policy (10-4) to encourage flexible working and staff are mainly home based with the requirement to come into the office two days per week. A standard full-time working week is 35 hours, plus an hour for lunch breaks.

Reporting into the Head of People Development, this role is an excellent opportunity for someone who already has a strong foundation working in the specialist field of learning and development.  In close collaboration with colleagues, including another People Development Advisor, a team Coordinator and the People Business Partners, this role has been created to support all aspects of professional development for NT staff.

The primary focus of the role will be to provide accurate guidance and support for NT colleagues, to help them to access the training and development they need; either through our in-house core curriculum, or externally delivered training. The role will also be responsible for the management of our online mandatory training curriculum and will support the management of our newly installed Learning Management System.

The successful candidate will have the following: 

• Demonstrable experience working in a specialist Learning and Development or People role
• Experience of building strong relationships with colleagues, key internal stakeholders and external learning suppliers
• Experience evaluating the effectiveness of L&D programmes / interventions
• Working knowledge of current L&D and / or organisational behaviour theories
• Experience of preparing verbal and written presentations to colleagues, stakeholder and / or other clients
• Experience of successfully managing complex projects
