About the role

The Research Officer supports Kinship in building a strong and coordinated evidence base about kinship families, and ensures our influencing work is grounded in real experience.

The role supports the design, delivery and communication of high-quality research, insights and evaluation that shapes policy, practice and service development. It also supports the coordination and operational delivery of research and practice activity, helping ensure projects, networks and events run effectively and that insights are shared across the organisation and the wider sector.

They will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including Policy, Programmes, Peer Support and Communications. It will ensure that research and insight are gathered and used consistently and that the experiences of kinship carers, particularly those from underserved communities, are central to our work. This role could be hybrid or remote.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and deliver qualitative and quantitative research that improves understanding of kinship families’ needs, experiences and outcomes.

• Lead data collection through surveys, interviews, focus groups and desk research.

• Carry out analysis using suitable methods to produce accurate and meaningful insight.

• Ensure research reflects the diversity of kinship carers, including carers from ethnic minority communities, mixed heritage families, informal kinship carers and carers experiencing additional barriers.

• Maintain strong ethical standards and follow GDPR requirements.

• Developing and supporting participatory research methods with carers, children and young people.

• Support evaluation of Kinship services including peer support, training and digital programmes.

• Develop tools and approaches that help gather feedback and evidence of outcomes.

Essential requirements include:

• Experience completing mixed methods research including design, fieldwork, analysis and reporting.

• Experience working in a research, evaluation or insight role in a charity, academic or public sector setting.

• Experience producing accessible research outputs for different audiences.

• Experience engaging with underrepresented communities and understanding barriers to participation.

• Experience of kinship care or social care research in the UK or comparable settings

• Excellent project management skills with an ability to manage multiple projects and tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.

• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with experience of R or equivalent statistical languages.

About the role

NEON is a capacity and infrastructure building organisation that seeks to accelerate the transition to a new economy by building the power of social movements - because without strong social movements we lack the power we need to win. We deliver trainings, develop resources, facilitate collaboration and work in partnership with key movement allies, especially in the climate, housing and migration movements. Our focus is on strengthening the organising, communications and strategy skills of social movement organisations, as well as deepening movement alignment, as we believe these are key to building collective power. Overview

The Regional Project Co-Ordinator will support the planning, coordination and delivery of programmes and initiatives for care experienced people.

Working closely with colleagues, delivery partners and stakeholders, you will help ensure programme activity runs smoothly and reaches those who may benefit most. The role combines project coordination with hands on delivery, including supporting workshops, events and engagement activity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Management

• Coordinate the day to day delivery of programmes and initiatives
• Support the planning and delivery of workshops, events and activities
• Attend and assist with delivery sessions alongside partners
• Maintain project plans, monitor progress and adjust activity where needed
• Coordinate delivery partners to ensure services meet the needs of care experienced people

2. Communication and Stakeholder Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with delivery partners, commissioners and stakeholders
• Act as a key point of contact for stakeholders
• Address issues promptly and effectively
• Organise meetings and ensure clear communication and follow up
• Prepare and share updates and reports

3. Performance Monitoring and Reporting

• Monitor delivery against agreed KPIs
• Maintain accurate project documentation including reports and risk logs
• Track budgets and flag any issues
• Collect and analyse feedback and outcome data
• Support reporting to commissioners and funders
• Identify opportunities to improve programme delivery

4. Budget Monitoring

• Liaise with the finance team regarding project budgets
• Identify and escalate any financial risks or concerns

5. Quality and Compliance

• Support quality assurance processes to maintain high standards

6. Additional Duties

• Participate in meetings, training and events as required
• Contribute to continuous improvement of programmes
• Work in line with the charity’s vision and values

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

• Ability and willingness to travel regularly across Greater Manchester, with occasional travel across the North West
• Access to a vehicle

ABOUT THE ROLE 

Team: Delivery/ Infrastructure 

As an Urban Designer, you will use your technical skills and professional expertise to produce high-quality design outputs. You will work with minimal supervision, but support is available when you need it. 

In this role, you will help deliver complex projects by applying clear thinking, creative problem solving, and sound technical knowledge. Your work directly supports the mission of the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust by creating safe, sustainable and accessible infrastructure. 

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team including designers, engineers, technicians, and other specialists. Together, you will support the delivery of projects and programmes that align with the Trust’s strategic priorities. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Manage straightforward projects from start to finish, with support available when needed. 
• Use sustainable and innovative design and construction practices in all projects. 
• Apply recognised technical skills to produce clear and accurate project designs and outputs. 
• Working directly with our partners and communities to develop sustainable design solutions
• Support business development by creating project proposals when requested.

You’ll blend creativity with technical thinking to shape safer, more sustainable places — not just at your desk, but out in communities too. ABOUT YOU 

We’re looking for someone who has experience and understanding in the areas listed below. You don’t need to meet every requirement — if you feel you’d be a good fit, we encourage you to apply. 

• You have either: a degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant field such as Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, or another clearly related specialism, and at least 2 years of experience, or at least 5 years of relevant work experience without a degree.
• You can use design software confidently. 
• You understand current guidance on healthy streets, including inclusive and holistic design approaches. 
• You understand the basics of health and safety management and know how to apply the CDM Regulations in your work.
• The ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and adults at risk.

About the role 

The Policy and Research Trainee post is a broad-ranging development role that will support the post-holder to gain knowledge and experience of various aspects of policy and research within a specialist health and care policy team.

You will contribute to projects across a wide range of issues relating to health and social care policy and practice (see our website for some examples of our recent projects). You will gain experience in creating a range of outputs for different audiences, publishing and presenting research findings in an accessible way. Training will be available both internally and externally to develop not only relevant research skills but also wider aspects such as writing and giving presentations.
