A newly created role, the Head of Relationship Fundraising will lead a diverse portfolio spanning Family & Friends fundraising, community fundraising, mid-value and major donor relationships, charity partnerships and corporate fundraising opportunities. Reporting to the Director of Income Generation, you will inherit an established portfolio of supporters and partners while identifying new opportunities for growth across the Duchenne community and beyond.

A key focus will be Duchenne UK’s Family & Friends Funds programme, a nationwide network of more than 50 family-led funds. You will combine ambitious income generation with exceptional supporter care, building trusted relationships with families, supporters, partners and donors whose connection to DMD is often deeply personal.

Working closely with the Director of Income Generation, CEO and co-founder Emily Reuben OBE, co-founder Alex Johnson OBE, and wider senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of relationship fundraising and helping to build a more strategic and sustainable fundraising programme for the years ahead.

As Head of Relationship Fundraising, you will:

• Lead delivery of Duchenne UK’s relationship fundraising strategy, driving sustainable income growth across multiple income streams
• Develop and grow Family & Friends fundraising, community fundraising, mid-value, major donor, partnership and corporate fundraising opportunities
• Build and steward a pipeline of supporters and prospects, developing meaningful long-term relationships
• Develop the Family & Friends Funds programme, ensuring excellent and compassionate supporter experiences
• Develop supporter journeys, stewardship plans and relationship management processes that increase engagement and retention
• Strengthen fundraising systems, processes and ways of working to support future growth
• Operationally lead relationships with charity partners and key stakeholders
• Monitor fundraising performance, pipeline activity and KPIs
• Line manage the Community & Events Fundraiser and help shape the wider fundraising function’s future direction, structure and growth

Essential skills and experience:

• Significant experience in relationship fundraising, with a track record of delivering sustainable income growth
• Experience managing complex supporter or donor relationships in emotionally sensitive or values-led environments
• Experience working with high-value supporters or philanthropy audiences
• Experience developing community, peer-to-peer, high-value or partnership fundraising relationships
• Demonstrable success in achieving income targets and building fundraising pipelines
• Strong relationship management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
• Experience developing supporter journeys and stewardship approaches that improve engagement and retention
• Strong financial awareness, including pipeline management and forecasting
• Excellent communication skills and experience using CRM systems effectively
• Exceptional emotional intelligence, empathy and a commitment to outstanding supporter care
• A proactive, entrepreneurial and solutions-focused approach

Desirable:

• Experience within a health, medical research or disability-related charity
• Experience of diagnosis-led, in-memory or bereavement-related fundraising

What does this role do?
As Community Fundraising Officer, you’ll:

• link the rehoming centre with supporters in the local community, developing relationships with local individuals, businesses, community groups and clubs, 
• feed into various income streams through these relationships, identifying prospects in the community and develop a pipeline of future donors and legacy donations,
• steward existing and potential donors, always providing them with a seamless supporter journey, ensuring they have a clear understanding of the work we do and feel motivated to support our meaningful local work,
• organise supporter events, talks and tours both onsite and externally.
• completing all administration related to donations to the centre, including thanking and banking.

Could this be you?
To be successful in this role, you’ll need some community fundraising experience, with the ability to build connections and connect with the local community. To do this, you’ll need excellent communication skills and be able to confidently approach and interact with supporters. While you’ll be a key part of the rehoming centre team, you’ll be regularly be working independently, so strong organisational skills and a proactive approach is essential.

This role is based at the rehoming centre, and the post holder will spend lots of time in the community meeting supporters. The working pattern is typically Monday and Tuesdays, but flexibility is required and is likely to involve some evening and weekend work, depending on the nature of the work.

The Community and Event Fundraising Manager is accountable for developing and implementing an ambitious community and event fundraising programme by building relationships and converting supporter enthusiasm into action. Income from Community and Events has grown by over 30% in the past 12 months, and is on target to increase by a further 30% this year so this a great time to join and lead the team.

As our programme grows, this role will also need to provide day to day support on key projects. They will be expected to attend weekend/evening events on a reasonably regular basis - eg being present at all of our Challenge events.

Job Purpose:

The Marketing & Fundraising Manager will play a key role in developing and implementing St Hilda’s East’s marketing strategy and will take the lead in organising fundraising events and securing funds from individual donations, and rental and room hire income.

They will lead on communications with external stakeholders through the development and implementation of SHE’s marketing plans and social media strategy. There will be a particular focus on strengthening our unique link with the Guild (alumnae) of Cheltenham Ladies’ College, as well as with parents and pupils of the school – to raise awareness of the impact of St. Hilda’s East and to organise joint events. The postholder will work alongside freelance fundraisers who focus on maximising grant income.

Harris Hill are delighted to be working with a fantastic charity to recruit for the Fundraising Executive to become the local face of a well established charity within Worcestershire.

As Fundraising Executive, you will be responsible for growing income and awareness across Worcestershire by developing meaningful relationships with supporters, volunteers, community groups, schools, and local businesses.

Working closely with the Community Fundraising Manager and wider fundraising team, you will help deliver regional fundraising plans, identify new opportunities, and provide exceptional supporter stewardship to maximise engagement and long-term loyalty.

This is a varied and rewarding role that combines community engagement, relationship management, volunteer support, event attendance, and fundraising development.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with supporters, community groups, schools, and local businesses.
• Develop and manage a pipeline of fundraising opportunities, including identifying new prospects and re-engaging previous supporters.
• Deliver excellent supporter stewardship, ensuring individuals and groups feel valued and connected to the charity's impact.
• Support and grow a network of volunteers through training, guidance, and regular engagement meetings.
• Deliver presentations, talks, and fundraising pitches to a variety of audiences.
• Provide advice and support to community fundraisers, ensuring compliance with relevant fundraising regulations and best practice.
• Maintain accurate records using CRM systems and monitor fundraising performance against agreed targets.
• Support community awareness initiatives, including educational programmes and public engagement activities.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to maximise fundraising opportunities and supporter engagement.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• A confident communicator with excellent relationship building skills.
• Experienced in customer service, fundraising, sales, community engagement, or stakeholder management.
• Self-motivated, organised, and capable of managing a varied workload independently.
• Comfortable presenting to groups and acting as an ambassador for a charitable cause.
• Experienced in working towards targets and achieving measurable outcomes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and database/CRM systems.
• Flexible and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events and community activities.

Essential Requirements

• Full UK driving licence.
• Access to a vehicle for business travel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities.

Desirable

• Experience in fundraising or the charity sector.

The Fundraising Manager is a key role responsible for securing the income that will allow Merton Giving to fulfil its ambitions. 

Who We Are

Merton Connected strengthens the voluntary, community and faith sector and supports charitable organisations across the borough through training, advice, volunteering and partnership building. We pioneered social prescribing in Merton, now embedded in every GP practice for over a decade. We also deliver Healthwatch Merton, the Home Visits Library and Merton Giving.

Merton Giving is our collaborative grant-giving programme through which we work with local people and organisations to raise funds that are distributed to local community organisations to tackle issues identified by local people. We bring together businesses, residents, community projects and other stakeholders and foster strong relationships, in order to unlock the potential of the borough and make Merton a place grounded in social justice, where people feel they belong, have what they need to live well, and are proud to call home.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising and Strategy

• Work with the Strategic Lead to develop and implement a fundraising strategy, including agreed income targets)
• Proactively build and manage a solid pipeline of funding applications and approaches.
• Establish, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with potential and existing funders, including corporates, trusts & foundations, high-net-worth individuals and the statutory sector.
• Work with the Strategic Lead to identify and take opportunities to engage and develop relationships with Merton’s businesses and High Net Worth individuals.
• Work with the Merton Connected team to explore how to maximise sector benefit from corporate volunteering and in-kind support.
• Write compelling funding applications and manage reporting requirements.
• Create and manage an efficient office system and processes for the fundraising function.

Publicity and marketing

• Promote Merton Giving to stakeholders through producing promotional material, maintaining the website, and social media
• Run events and identify opportunities to promote Merton Giving, especially to businesses and HNWs
• Work with the Grants Manager to collect impact stories from grant recipients for publicity

Partnership Development

• Work with the Strategic Lead to develop partnerships, and identify opportunities for added value and mutual benefit, such as promoting Merton Giving through the Council’s payroll giving scheme.
• Act as an ambassador for Merton Giving, representing the organisation at external events and meetings

Additional Responsibilities

• Ensure all fundraising activities are aligned with Merton Giving/Merton Connected aims and values.
• Occasionally work outside of normal office hours to support Merton Giving events and activities.
• Support with organisational tasks as required in a small, dynamic team.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

• Proven experience in fundraising, with a track record of securing income exceeding £300,000 a year from a diverse range of sources (corporates, trusts, individuals, and statutory sector).
• Demonstrable experience in building and managing strong relationships and partnerships with funders and stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in writing persuasive funding applications and reports.
• Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to develop and implement long-term fundraising plans.
• The ability to influence people through persuasive argument
• Excellent planning, organisational, and project management skills, including the ability to work to deadlines.
• A deep commitment to tackling inequality and a passion for community-led change.
• An understanding of the inequality and challenges within Merton.
• The ability to work autonomously and proactively in a small team.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including, Word, Excel, Teams and Sharepoint.

Desirable:

• Experience with WordPress and grant management software
• Experience of running events
• An experienced and influential public speaker
• Skilled in writing promotional material

Location: Contracted to our Peterborough office with the flexibility for hybrid working
Salary: £37,000 - £42,000 FTE depending on experience
Full time: 37.5 hrs per week (would consider part time: minimum 30 hours)
