The International department of World Horse Welfare is responsible for implementing the organisation’s strategy in Lower and Middle Income countries and aims to improve the welfare of as many working equids as possible. An important part of the strategy is to increase the size and scope of the international programme.
We are seeking an International Programme Officer to join the team and support and develop the community-based projects that underpin the charity’s presence in developing countries. As the organisation begins to work more closely with the human development sector and raise its profile at government and institutional levels, this role will be influential in developing relationships and seeking funding opportunities to support the expansion of World Horse Welfare’s overseas activities.

Responsibilities and Person Specification:
This role supports Independent Age’s media/ PR and social media programme, with a 50/50 split between these areas, and will help deliver our ambition to tackle poverty in later life, build the organisation’s reputation, and raise our profile across multimedia channels.
Working closely with the Media Communications Manager and Senior Digital Content Officer, the post-holder will work on communication projects across all areas of the charity to raise awareness and understanding of Independent Age, grow our influence and drive potential supporters to our activities (including our information and advice, fundraising, volunteering and campaigning).
You should have experience of media liaison and securing press coverage, as well as familiarity with all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter/X, BlueSky, Instagram and LinkedIn), and ideally a foundational knowledge of the associated reporting and analytics for them.

About the Role
The role sits within the Communications, Engagement and Fundraising (CEF) directorate and reports to its director. · Assess and process all bursary applications, including Slater Scholarships, Worcester, Hanway and Green Skills bursaries against clearly defined eligibility criteria

· Maximise the use bursary funding and ensure successful outcomes for beneficiaries
· Identify new bursary funding opportunities and devise bids in collaboration with the fundraising team

About the Role
We are seeking a high-performing, experienced, and self-directed compliance professional to provide maternity cover within the Grants, Contracts & Compliance (GCC) department.
This role requires someone who operates with excellence, independence, and sound judgement from day one—a person who is confident navigating complex donor rules, shaping risk‑mitigation strategies, and leading award management processes without needing extensive onboarding. We are seeking an experienced practitioner with proven applied experience, rather than a purely theoretical background.
You will oversee the full lifecycle of European donor‑funded awards, ensuring rigorous contractual and regulatory compliance across Internews. Working closely with colleagues across Programmes, Finance, and Global Development, you will help maintain a culture where doing things right is prioritised over shortcuts.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise with major European donors (European Commission, Sida, FCDO), a proactive mindset, and the ability to lead, train, and influence teams across the organisation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request:
Compliance
· Review and approve proposal budgets for assigned funding opportunities.
· Review donor agreements and ensure terms are acceptable; support the Director of GCC in strengthening organisational risk‑mitigation practices.
· Advise staff on Internews’ internal and donor rules across the project cycle.
· Work with Programme Officers and cross-functional teams on effective project start‑up, including inductions, adapting award procedures/templates, and ongoing staff training; conduct country visits when required.
· Collaborate with Finance to support successful programme audits.
· Maintain and update organisational data on institutional donor platforms (e.g., EU Transparency Register, IATI).

About the role:

Responsibilities
Financial & Grant Coordination
Support Epic’s bi-annual grantmaking process, including but not limited to drafting and distributing grant agreements and archiving documentation.
Manage the process of financial reporting from Epic’s portfolio organisations, coordinating with the Operations and Programs teams to verify compliance with Epic’s reporting requirements.
Assist with administrative monitoring of supported organisations, including data collection and documentation management.

We’re building a Transport Solutions Team that can work flexibly across all the tools in our delivery kit – from grants and innovation pilots to research, partnerships, and commercial interventions.
