About the role:
At Single Homeless Project (SHP), we believe that everyone deserves a place to call home - and the support to make it truly theirs. As a Caseworker in our Tenancy Sustainment Team, you’ll do so much more than help people keep a roof over their heads. You’ll be part of someone’s journey toward stability, growth, and renewed confidence. Whether welcoming someone at the start of their support journey, walking alongside them as they navigate life’s challenges, or supporting them to move on to greater independence, your work will have a lasting impact.
This is a role that develops you as much as it empowers others. Every day brings new opportunities to build trusting relationships, use your creativity to solve real-world problems, and collaborate with a committed team that is shaping the future of housing support across London. You’ll deliver one-to-one, person-led support that enables people to maintain their tenancies, improve their wellbeing, build financial resilience, and engage fully in their communities. Alongside your clients, you’ll draw on a wide network of Single Homeless Project (SHP) and community services to help turn personal goals into meaningful outcomes.
Join us, and you’ll be part of an ambitious, values-led organisation where you’ll grow your skills, stretch your potential, and see the tangible difference your work makes - every single day. Whether you’re just starting out or ready for your next challenge, this is more than a job - it’s a career with purpose.
Caseworker posts are for Mondays - Fridays, 9am to 5pm. Posts involve hybrid work with opportunities to work from home at times. The role includes hybrid working and is based at our office in Kings Cross. There are opportunities to work from home at times.
About you:
About us:
We’re London’s leading homelessness charity – and we get things done.
In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.
We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.
Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.
We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.

Inspired by boxing legend Mick Carney, the charity was founded in his name after his passing in 2011, building on work led by our co-founders. We aim to create a “virtuous cycle”: while support is free of charge, we ask that when young people are ready, they channel the positivity they have received into others. As a result, many go on to volunteer, mentor, join our staff team or even set up their own community initiatives. Former participants make up the majority of our workforce. They provide the most authentic role models, people who genuinely understand the challenges our young people face and who show what is possible. For our young people we strive for equality and aim to: Improve Physical and Mental Health; Improve Education, Skills and Employability; Improve Community Engagement; Reduce Offending and Reoffending.

Purpose of the role
The Operations Manager will ensure that HCCN has the people, systems, processes and resources needed to deliver its distinctive community cancer support effectively, safely and sustainably.
Working closely with the Chair and Board of Trustees, the postholder will translate HCCN’s strategy into clear operational priorities and ensure that the organisation is well organised, financially responsible, compliant and capable of delivering a high-quality experience for people affected by cancer.
The role is particularly important in enabling HCCN to work effectively alongside the NHS Community Cancer Nursing Team and to provide the non-clinical support that helps people live well with and beyond cancer.
This is a senior but hands-on operational role. It requires someone who can exercise sound judgement, establish effective systems and provide practical solutions, while recognising that HCCN is a relatively small charity with limited resources.
The postholder will focus on making the organisation work well, rather than personally delivering HCCN’s specialist wellbeing activities.

1.Effective and person-centred service coordination
2.Operational planning and organisational performance
3.Governance, risk and compliance
4.Financial and resource oversight

6.Efficient operational infrastructure
7.Effective partnership working with the NHS and local community
The postholder will work within the authority delegated by the Board and will escalate matters requiring trustee approval or strategic decision-making.
To keep the role achievable within 25 hours per week, the postholder will establish effective systems, coordinate and delegate appropriately, and work with trustees, staff, volunteers, activity leaders and specialist support where available.
The role does not have responsibility for clinical decision-making or the delivery of specialist clinical cancer care.
Please see our role description for full deatils of the responsibilities of this role.
