Principal Job Duties of Role 

Income generation 

• Proactively develop income through supporter (DIY) events, providing support and attending events where invited/required. 

• Proactively recruit sports teams to fundraise through kit sponsorship scheme, sporting events and activities 

• Develop gaming fundraising activity. 

• Support DIY Fundraising events by providing support, resources, and attending when required/requested 

• Support Music & Arts Fundraising Programme of activity 

• Support the school’s fundraising programme throughout Northwest England. This will include working with schools, presenting and talking with teachers and pupils in classrooms and assemblies. 

• Support the development of income from Community Groups including (but not limited to) philanthropic groups such as Rotary, religious groups and social groups. 

Stewardship 

• Support the Charity Ambassador programme. Maintaining relationships with current Ambassadors, identifying potential new Ambassadors and supporting and developing their fundraising through effective motivation and stewardship. 

• Develop initiatives to engage Alder Hey trust staff in Charity activity, events and support 

• Manage community Gifts in Kind for patients, staff and families including donations of tickets and record on the Charity CRM system (Salesforce) 

Other Duties 

• Assist with other aspects of Community and wider Charity fundraising including the Charity events programme and various campaigns and projects where required. 

• Undertake other duties which may be designated from time to time by the Senior Management Team to achieve the Charity’s objectives, including representing the department on occasions, functions and events as required.

About the role

We are the UK’s largest independent non-profit investigative newsroom. Our reporting is published by media partners around the world and holds power to account across five areas: environment, health, big tech, dirty money and local power.

This role will manage 2–3 of our editorial teams, providing strategic fundraising support to help them deliver journalism that drives real-world change. While the exact portfolio will be confirmed with the successful candidate, the role will initially support 2-3 of our core teams and may also contribute to work on emerging issues such as mis- and disinformation and its impact on UK communities.

Our teams include:

• Bureau Local: Works with communities across the UK to uncover hidden stories and drive accountability. Recent work includes exposing the exploitation of migrant workers, running a community-led investigation shaped by the Trans+ community, and bringing vital transparency to the family courts through reporting and mentoring.

• Enablers: Investigates the lawyers, accountants and financial structures that enable corruption and allow illicit finance to flow through the UK. Their reporting has prompted major regulatory investigations and scrutiny.

• Big Tech: Scrutinises the power and influence of major technology companies, examining issues such as moderator working conditions, surveillance, algorithmic harms, digital rights and the impact of AI on society. Their reporting has informed safety measures, supported litigation, and strengthened public understanding of how tech shapes our lives.

• Environment: Investigates the environmental and human impacts of resource extraction, climate finance and the actions of powerful corporations. Their reporting has contributed to changes in corporate practices and prompted customers to take action - including leaving their banks.

• Global Health: Examines the systems that shape access to healthcare, the safety and quality of medicines, and the influence of corporate and political interests on global health outcomes. The team has briefed the WHO and medical practitioners, ensuring their findings inform policy and frontline practice.

Our fundraising

The Bureau is almost entirely funded through grants and donations – without our supporters, we couldn’t do what we do. Over recent years, we’ve grown to a team of 35 people with an annual income of £2.8m, backed by a committed network of trusts, foundations, and individuals.

This is an exciting time to join our fundraising team as we build on those strong relationships and explore new ways to diversify our income.

Responsibilities

• Work with project leads to develop their ideas into a strong case for support, translating complex issues into powerful, accessible narratives for funders.

• Manage relationships with existing funders, ensuring timely reporting, effective stewardship and continued support.

• Research and develop a pipeline of new prospects.

• Write compelling proposals and applications to secure new grants.

• Collaborate with our other Fundraising Manager, who leads on the remaining themes, and provide support in those areas when needed.

• Support the Bureau in identifying ways to diversify our income, such as helping to grow our major donor programme.

• Work closely with colleagues across the Bureau - from reporters and impact producers to operations and finance – and play an active part in maintaining a collaborative, supportive workplace culture.

• Pitch in on a range of fundraising tasks, big and small, to keep the Bureau in the best position to deliver its journalism.

Skills and experience

• Fundraising track record: 5+ years’ experience raising significant money for charities or non-profits, especially from foundations (HNW experience a bonus).

• Great communicator: able to translate complex issues into strong and compelling proposals; fluent in English.

• Researcher and analyst: skilled at identifying new funding opportunities.

• Organised: able to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines with strong attention to detail.

Experience securing funds for journalism, social justice, civil society, or human rights is desirable but not essential. People with experience raising funds for campaigning or rights-based work may be especially well-suited.

Key Tasks

Leadership

• Work with the People Sub-Committee (PSC) and SMT to develop and implement organisational people strategies and plans to support the delivery of our organisational strategy for older people.

The purpose of this role is to deliver FSSW’s FareChance programme, including employability learning and practical logistics sessions alongside support and collaboration with the Employability Programme Facilitator. The FareChance programme currently works with young people aged between 18 – 25 who experience additional barriers to accessing education, training, or employment. The young people are supported to learn new skills, build confidence, and realise their full potential. 

FareChance provides a unique combination of two parts: the first is working alongside other volunteers and staff learning key warehouse and logistics skills, getting firsthand practical experience; the second is tailored employability sessions in small groups with 1-1 specialist support. 

The Employability Programme Lead will lead on running the employability workshops. This role will provide 1-1 support for young people where required and provide signposting and referrals to other specialist services. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting people to thrive and be sensitive to the inequality and power imbalance faced by young people today. They will have experience of supporting young people to achieve their goals and can bring these skills to deliver FareChance. This role will coach as well as co-ordinate the programme whilst supporting the growth of an innovative, supportive, and caring employability pathway for people to overcome barriers and move closer to the future they deserve. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Programme Delivery 

• Support the Employability Programme Facilitator to deliver practical warehouse activity sessions 

• Working with the Operations team to ensure smooth integration of our participants and the programme into every aspect of the operation. 

• Lead in providing tailored programme coaching/mentoring: 

• Set up and monitor an action plan for each participant with realistic goals to overcome barriers they face. 

• Provide advice and guidance, build confidence and support participants with appropriate resources for their next steps (including CV writing and interview skills)

• Identify project management opportunities and build plans with relevant staff in the wider team. 

• Lead on developing and preparing programme resources. 

• Identify specific needs and risks, liaising with senior colleagues, create and maintain risk assessments with individuals to ensure safety in the workplace.

Programme Development 

• Lead on the recruitment, onboarding and offboarding of participants (currently 18–25-year-olds with possibility of expanding this range) onto the FareChance Programme.

• Work alongside the Head of Employability and Volunteering around any incidents or safeguarding concerns. Signpost to external agencies where appropriate. 

• Work with the fundraising and communications teams on internal and external reporting for FareChance, including gathering quantitative and qualitative data 

• Deliver programme data and, in conjunction with the Head of Employability and Volunteering, analyse and feed into future programmes

Our partner, a respected international NGO seeks an experienced Project Finance Manager (Spanish speaking) to provide financial support to a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract being delivered in Guatemala and Honduras.

The Project Finance Manager is responsible for the financial management of the contract within Guatemala and Honduras. The primary aim is to ensure the project team can react to the requests from the project manager to deliver high quality financial reports, underlying assumption narrative or reforecasts within the required timeframe, both internally and externally.

Job Responsibilities:

· Prepare project budgets in line with donor requirements

· Monitor project budgets and conduct regular budget reviews to ensure the project stays within budget

· Monitor expenditure variances and communicate any developing significant variances with the wider project team

· Prepare regular financial reports and statements for project stakeholders

· Manage and oversee all financial transactions related to the project

· Ensue operational plans are reflected in the budget and forecasts / spend out plans

The Opportunity:   

The Aspiring Professionals Programme Coordinator (APPC) role will be well-suited to someone who is focused on the best ways they can help the aims of the charity as well as those of our participants and partners. An APPC is responsible for supporting the delivery and development of the Social Mobility Foundation’s programme of activities for young people through their S5-6/sixth form and university years.   
The SMF offers in-person and online support and opportunities, so this role will involve providing virtual and in-person support to students and working with employers across the UK.

Key Responsibility Areas:
1. Project Delivery 

• Deliver key projects including recruiting and onboarding students, creating digital resources and student events  
• Support with programme pilots, scoping (and delivering on) new activity

• Most of our work is office based, but you will spend a lot of time collaborating with other teams and clients via email, telephone and other communications channels such as Teams or Zoom.

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as Service Manager for the Eastern European Outreach Service. This vital role offers the chance to lead a dedicated team of Independent Gender Violence Advocates (IGVAs) in delivering high-quality support to women and children affected by domestic abuse.

This role is part of a job share which will lead our Eastern European Outreach Service, covering five boroughs across East and West London. This is a dynamic and fast-paced role for someone passionate about supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse and other forms of gender-based violence. Together with your colleague (another Service Manager) you  will play a key role in ensuring that reporting requirements and service outcomes are consistently met, maintaining Refuge’s high standards and fulfilling contractual and funding obligations.

As Service Manager, you will oversee the delivery and development of high-quality outreach services tailored to the needs of Eastern European communities. This includes recognising and addressing the specific barriers these communities face in accessing support. You will provide line management to outreach staff, including supervision on complex and high-risk cases, and ensure operational emergencies are managed effectively.

You will lead on multi-agency collaboration, working closely with stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and trauma-informed response for survivors. The role requires strong experience in casework management, staff supervision, and direct support to vulnerable individuals. A solid understanding of domestic abuse, gender-based violence, and its impact is essential, along with knowledge of relevant legislation including Criminal and Civil law, Housing, and Health & Safety.
