Job description

Associate Vice-Principal (Principal Gifts)
Queen’s University
Kingston, Ontario, Canada

CAN$200,000 to CAN$250,000

This is an opportunity at one of Canada’s most prestigious universities at a time of exciting ambition and momentum.  One of the most exciting leadership positions in the sector, this newly created position will be critical to Queen’s University maintaining and growing its capability to attract philanthropic funding at the principal gifts level and engaging powerfully with our alumni and non-alumni stakeholders globally.

Queen’s University is one of Canada’s oldest and most distinctive institutions – a university known not just for academic excellence, but for the depth of connection its community feels. Our alumni are among the most loyal, most engaged, and most passionate in the country, and it is that extraordinary foundation on which our philanthropic ambitions are built.

We are at an important moment with a comprehensive campaign on the horizon and a commitment to growing our principal gift ambition. This is an opportunity to evolve and deepen Queen's principal gift expertise, to build capacity in complex gift conversations, to strengthen a talented team, and to apply your knowledge at a university with significant philanthropic potential.

Working at the most senior levels across the University and globally, you will lead a team that delivers gifts that are truly transformational. Reporting to the Vice Principal (Advancement) and as a member of her Leadership Team, you will spearhead the University’s engagement with principal level prospects around the world and help shape and drive Queen’s next fundraising campaign.

You will be a values-driven leader with extensive experience in successfully developing and overseeing institution-wide principal gift fundraising. Comfortable orchestrating a myriad of stakeholders, you will have a demonstrable record of building relationships and engaging with philanthropists and high net-worth individuals.

This role is based at Queen’s University campus in Kingston, Ontario. The position may be eligible for a remote work arrangement within the Province of Ontario.

Queen’s University is partnering with Erin Hall-Westfall and Joanna Logan of Constellate Global Talent on this search. Please see the attached Candidate Pack for more information.

Closing date: 11:59pm EST on August 9, 2026
N.B.
The posting will remain open, and applications received after this date may be considered until the position is filled.

The University is committed to the principles of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). We seek to provide an inclusive and barrier-free work environment, beginning with the recruitment process and provide accommodations as needed for applicants with disabilities.
