Job Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the Charity’s operations. You will be the first point of contact for supporters and will deliver outstanding customer care and donor stewardship.

You will build strong working relationships with Charity colleagues, donors (existing and potential), volunteers and Trust staff. The role supports the fundraising teams, assists with the hospital and online shop, and plays a key part in coordinating and administering the Charity’s volunteering function. You will also provide vital People (HR) administration and process support.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Fundraising & Office

• Undertake day-to-day administrative tasks as directed by the Operations & People Manager and Team Leader, including preparing letters, reports and memos to a high professional standard.

• Handle sensitive information appropriately, maintaining confidentiality at all times.

• Deal with all incoming telephone enquiries in a professional and helpful manner, directing calls correctly and taking accurate messages.

• Support the efficient running of the public Charity office by welcoming donors and visitors in a friendly and professional way.

• Provide excellent customer care and donor stewardship in every interaction.

• Manage incoming mail, ensuring it is opened, distributed and responded to promptly.

• Process donations in line with established receipting procedures.

• Adhere to audit procedures and liaise with the Charity’s auditors.

• Maintain filing systems, ensuring safe storage and regular archiving of records.

• Support the senior management team, including organising meetings and room bookings.

• Undertake banking procedures, ensuring donations are accurately recorded and banked.

Hospital & Online Shop

• Process online shop orders in a timely manner.

• Run regular online sales reports for the Operations Manager.

• Support the management of the hospital and online shop, ensuring stock levels are maintained and products are well presented.

• Provide customer service in the hospital Atrium shop and support front desk cover as required.

• Cash up the till, ensuring all sales are accurately recorded and passed for banking.

Database Support

• Process donations on the CRM database, liaising with fundraising teams to ensure accuracy, including online platforms.

• Produce analytical reports from the fundraising database for audit purposes.

People / HR Support

Provide People/HR administrative support in the following areas:

• Recruitment, including coordinating recruitment and induction of new starters.

• Volunteer coordination, ensuring a robust process from expression of interest through to induction.

• Ensuring all staff have DBS checks in line with Trust requirements.

• Administration of staff annual leave and absence reporting.

• Creating staff correspondence, including pay award, furlough and other required communications.

Other Duties

• Act as an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity, in line with organisational values.

• Be an active and supportive team member, contributing to team development and collaborative working.

• Attend and support fundraising events where required.

• Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager.

South East London Mind’s award-winning Mindful Mums Programme aims to build resilience and prevent pregnant and new mums from developing mental health problems during the perinatal period (pregnancy up to 1 year). This year marks the service’s 10-year anniversary, supporting over 4,000 parents across South East London.

Our peer support volunteers are at the heart of what we do, helping us to deliver weekly wellbeing groups, walking groups and one-to-one befriending for new mothers and birthing people. Their dedication makes a real difference, and we are committed to supporting them every step of the way.

We are seeking a proactive Senior Peer Support Coordinator to lead on the provision of a high-quality peer support volunteer programme for over 50 volunteers. This role is responsible for all aspects of the volunteer life cycle, from marketing and recruitment, delivery of induction training on perinatal mental health and psychoeducational tools used within Mindful Mums, through to reflective supervision, delivering our CPD programme and finding the right role for each volunteer within the service. 

You will work alongside Senior Project Coordinators and the Service Manager to ensure we deliver on our targets, supporting with programming our wellbeing groups and one-to-one befriending. You will be a skilled people manager and effective communicator, responsible for the line management of staff and ensuring the service is represented at stakeholder and partner community events. You will be a confident facilitator, as some group delivery will be expected.

Like us, you will be passionate and knowledgeable about the role of peer support within recovery-focused perinatal mental health and the NHS Competence Framework for Mental Health Peer Support Workers. You will be experienced in supporting volunteers, providing supervision and acting as a mentor in their professional development. You will be highly organised with experience of project management in a target-driven environment.  An ability to work independently but collaboratively, to be proactive and highly organised is essential for this role.

The Investment Director (ID) is a key member of the Investment Team, playing a leading role in identifying, assessing, and supporting portfolio partner charities and other non-profit organisations to deepen their impact and scale their outcomes. This role works closely with other Investment Directors and Investment Managers to deliver external facing support to portfolio partners as well as internal projects to support the development of the investment model and portfolio strategy.

About the Investment Team

The Investment Team is responsible for selecting portfolio partners, managing our charity investments and supporting our portfolio partners to improve and scale their impact.

The Investment Team also leads the Impetus Leadership Academy, a leadership development programme to support talent from ethnic minority backgrounds in the UK youth sector to progress into senior leadership roles.

The team is made up of 18 people, including former teachers, charity chief executives, charity impact leads, management consultants, social investment portfolio managers and impact consultants.  

The team is led by a Portfolio Director who sits on the Senior Management Team. The Portfolio Director has 5 direct reports: a Deputy Portfolio Director, three Sector Leads (who lead our work in School engagement, School attainment and Employment Sectors) and an Impact Lead. Sector Leads line manage 6 Investment Directors. Investment Directors line manage Investment Managers (currently 5). Investment Directors and Investment Managers tend to primarily focus on a sector but might have mixed portfolios, depending on need, experience and interest.

The Investment Team has a good track record of role progression. All four Leads and a number of our Investment Directors were promoted from within the team.

Key responsibilities

Finding high potential charities and non-profit partners for our portfolio

• Identifying potential charitable organisations for investment 
• Leading in-depth due diligence process within the scope of a grant round, to assess and build partnership foundations with potential partners – covering leadership and governance, and their impact, scale, and partnership potential; 
• Modelling from first contact of origination, our approach to engaged and trust-based investment management support;
• Developing and presenting high quality investment propositions to our Investment Committee.

Managing partnerships with portfolio partners

• Managing relationships with partner Chairs and CEOs 
• Agreeing Service Funding Agreements, including appropriate annual investment milestones to allow for a clear assessment of re-investment potential at end of phase 
• Regularly monitoring and assessing partner progress / risks against milestones and making evidence-based recommendations on progression or exit to Leads, Portfolio Director and the Investment Committee
• Escalating key risks on performance, leadership and safeguarding 
• Conducting annual partnership review with Sector Leads and partner CEOs
• Working with Impetus Finance colleagues to ensure timely distribution of grant payments, in line with Service Funding Agreements. 

Supporting portfolio partners 

• Providing direct support to CEOs and senior colleagues on key strategic topics, using a mix of at least monthly one-to-one meetings and group facilitation to:
  • clarify theory of change,
  • define long term ambition,
  • develop growth strategy
  • achieve a step change in the delivery and performance management of outcomes,
  • strengthen leadership (individual and collective) and governance capabilities,
  • develop path to scale,
  • build financial resilience;
• Scoping and project managing pro bono capacity-building projects (in addition to providing direct management support). Ensure projects are delivered to a high standard and contribute to charity progression;
• Identifying engagement opportunities for our donors and supporters with portfolio partners that are aligned with the partner’s activities and do not distract or undermine their core work;
• Collaborating with the Impetus Philanthropy team to support the development of additional funding opportunities for portfolio partners, enhancing their ability to deliver impact at scale;
• Effectively leveraging the support of investment managers to advance the objectives developed for each portfolio partner that is managed by an Investment Director.

Support to Impetus

• Developing expertise about “what works” in the sector through cultivation and use of expert input and engagement as well as investigation into key research and evaluative literature;
• Contributing insights and learning from portfolio work to inform Impetus’ strategy, model and delivery;
• Contributing to internal priorities and working groups (e.g. team strategy discussions, digital improvement initiatives, or equity, diversity, and inclusion)

Introduction

Afield is a brand new charity responding to environmental injustice. We do this by working with communities to rewild disadvantaged urban neighbourhoods; and by supporting artists to undertake ecological research. This exciting and demanding role will be right at the heart of making everything happen!

Objectives

You will work alongside Afield’s two co-founders to define and run the urban wilding and arts grants programmes, including managing the cohort of grantees. We are looking for dynamism, energy and experience of grant management to help us launch the first round of grants and a support programme.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the two co-founders you will set up the arts research and wilding programmes. This will include launching and running opencall and selection processes, and the cohort support programmes. Once established you will lead subsequent programmes, and plan for future cohorts. You will be:

• Feeding into the design of the arts & wilding programmes

• Taking responsibility for, and running, the arts grants grants and wilding programme (including involvement in the selection of grantees, continual learning and evaluation)

• Liaising with partners on programme delivery (eg. local councils for wilding)

• Managing selectors and mentors, supporting peer learning, and organising workshops for both programmes

• Taking responsibility for managing the cohorts

• Working with a second team member (to be recruited) to promote the programme

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who is: 

• Empathetic, has a positive attitude and a desire to help our grantees

• Energetic with a can-do, self-sufficient attitude, and with the ability to independently manage a busy workload, multiple deadlines and priorities

• Confident in their ability whilst self-aware and committed to ongoing development

• Interested (and perhaps experienced) in nature, ecology or the environment

We would also like to work with someone who has:

• Experience of running a grants or funded cohort programme (ideally in either arts grants or a pioneer-style programme)

• Ability and comfort in creating structure out of ambiguity; identifying challenges and opportunities; and expressing clear proposals for change

• Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written

• Good analytical and project management skills, and strong competency in setting up and using technology such as an application management platform

Compensation and benefits

• 4 days per week role, for which the salary is £34,500 (FTE: £43,000)

Responsible for the safe delivery and environment of the Osborne Centre (both Partners and staff) delivering a range of quality services for our Partners (service users) and ensuring that the management systems are in place and operational.

Overall purpose:

To develop, support and deliver the day to day operations of the Osborne Partnership, in partnership with other senior Managers, and Service Managers, with a particular focus on the quality agenda as it relates to Partner services, service development, benchmarking, and external accreditations. The role will ensure that Partner services are engaged in a cycle of continuous review and improvements and providing Service Managers with the tools and support to deliver the highest standards of service through building confidence and expertise, and identifying service and personal development training where appropriate.

Main Duties:

1. To support the development and best practice of all Osborne Partnership service areas to ensure relevant, meaningful, and objective focused delivery for Partners.

2. To work with the relevant Service Managers and Project Supoort Officers (PSOs) to review current service delivery and to provide an objective, supportive, but challenging voice in the development of services.

3. To benchmark Osborne Partnership services and delivery against similar services in the borough and wider afield.

4. Working with other senior managers, identify and action new service areas of delivery commensurate with the Osborne Partnership Memorandum and Articles of Association and subject to Partners consultation and approval.

5. To identify, research, and action plan frontline external accreditations that will provide a objectifiable list of outcomes that will support and benefit Partners; staff development; and the professional standing of the Osborne Partnership.

6. To support senior managers in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures as they may relate to updated legislation; new service provision; Partners welfare, safety and development; staff development and benefits; or any other relevant area of service.

7. To line manage (including appraisals) relevant Service Managers as leaders of services ensuring that they understand the concept of continuous improvement and are supporting Project Support Officers (PSOs) to do likewise.

8. To ensure that Service Managers have identified and developed service schemes of work, annual development training plans for Service Managers and their PSOs in line with continuous improvement principles and to ensure best practice activities for Partners.

9. To work with senior managers to identify and action activities/ services/ initiatives/ documents/ plans that will support the on-going professionalisation and modernisation agenda of the Osborne Partnership

10. To actively support other senior managers in the day to day delivery of the Osborne Centre service provision ensuring health and safety at work principles are adhered to; safeguarding of Partners is paramount; that staff are adequately prepped and prepared for delivery of their services; and that a professional service approach is adhered to at all times.

11. To be the primary development Officer of the Storri database as it relates to Osborne Partnership, information gathering (and mindful of GDPR), and Partmner journeys travelled in the service.

12. To identify personal development opportunities and requirements as dictated by the role.

13. Any other reasonable task as defined as a management role and directed from time to time by the Chief Executive. 

14. To undergo training necessary in relation to the requirements of the post.

15. To undertake any other duties consistent with the overall purpose of the post within the competence of the post holder.

About the Role

This role provides help and support to our frontline services, to deliver an effective service by processing referrals in a timely manner, processing post and responding to miscellaneous
