MindWorks is a research programme designed as a randomised controlled trial to test a specialist intervention for young people at risk of school exclusion due to challenging behaviour. Grounded in CBT and systemic approaches and underpinned by a strong anti-racist framework, the programme recognises the impact of structural inequality and works closely with schools, families and communities, with young people recruited directly through education settings.

What you’ll do

As Head of Service, you will lead the delivery of a national, evidence-based intervention programme supporting young people at risk of exclusion, grounded in CBT, systemic practice, and a whole-school approach.

You will have strategic and operational responsibility for developing, managing and evaluating the service, ensuring high-quality clinical governance, safeguarding, and compliance with the programme’s randomised controlled trial requirements.

Working closely with practitioners, researchers and partners, and drive inclusive, anti-racist practice while building strong stakeholder relationships to ensure effective outcomes for children, young people and families.

What you’ll bring

Essential requirements:

• Relevant professional qualification and expertise: recognised clinical or related qualification with strong knowledge of evidence-based interventions for children and young people, particularly in school settings.
• Extensive clinical and safeguarding experience: experience working with at-risk young people, including managing risk, safeguarding responsibilities, and providing clinical supervision.
• Proven leadership and team management capability: ability to lead, supervise and develop multidisciplinary teams delivering structured interventions.
• Ability to work within research frameworks: experience adhering to intervention models and contributing to programmes aligned with research requirements such as trials or evaluations.
• Communication and partnership skills: confident working with schools, external agencies and diverse communities, with strong cultural competence and inclusive practice.

Key details

Hours: full-time, 35 hours per week.

Salary: £69,092 FTE per annum, plus 6% contributory pension scheme.

Location: Anna Freud (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH) with some attendance at schools and colleges participating in the programme nationally.

Contract type: fixed-term until July 2028.

About the Role

As a Caseworker, you will provide structured, tailored support plans based on holistic assessments for individuals affected by crime. You will make initial contact with victims via the telephone, then tailor the support to them explaining our services, and assessing the impact of crime. Your responsibilities will include developing, delivering, and monitoring safety and support plans, providing resources, interventions, and information to service users.

As a Caseworker you will:

• Manage a caseload of self-referred & referred service users, providing information & advocacy to help them navigate the criminal justice process.
• Conduct risk & needs assessments, ensuring each victim receives tailored support & information.
• Identify barriers to accessing services & work with partners to provide ongoing support.
• Keep accurate & confidential case records on a bespoke case management system
• Make calls to offer support to victims of domestic abuse, delivering immediate support.
• Develop, deliver and monitor safety and support plans for those affected by crime who accept ongoing support
• Liaise and actively engage with other local providers to share information on the VS service offer
• Work as part of a team with staff and the volunteer team to provide a seamless service to clients

About You

You will have an understanding of the impact of crime on victims & experience in delivering services within a statutory, voluntary, or multi-agency setting. Experience in managing a caseload and of completing risk & needs assessments would be beneficial.

You will need:

• Strong written & verbal communication skills.
• Strong IT skills, including the ability to navigate and utilise bespoke case management systems effectively and an ability to use Microsoft Office applications to a high standard
• Good organisational & time management skills, able to manage competing needs and priorities.
• To work effectively both as part of a team & independently

• The ability to maintain professional boundaries & confidentiality.

As PRS Access and Resettlement Officer, you will be out there opening doors: building relationships with landlords and letting agents, identifying suitable private rented sector options, and helping clients move into homes where they can build stability, independence and confidence.

Day to day, you will work closely with Single Homeless Project (SHP) caseworkers and frontline teams to identify clients who are ready to explore PRS move-on, assess affordability and tenancy readiness, support property searches, arrange viewings, liaise with landlords, and help clients navigate the practical steps needed to secure a tenancy. You will provide clear advice around housing options, welfare benefits, tenancy expectations and sustainment, while supporting colleagues to feel confident using PRS pathways as part of their move-on planning.

This is a role with real pace, purpose and impact. You will need to be creative, persistent and confident in your communication, especially when negotiating with landlords, unblocking barriers or advocating for clients who may have been let down by systems before. There will be a mixture of working in the community (attending viewings across London), working from office and working from home. 

About you:

• You understand the barriers people can face when moving on from homelessness, and you bring the empathy, persistence and practical problem solving needed to help people overcome them.
• You have experience of housing, resettlement, tenancy sustainment, homelessness support or a similar frontline setting, with the ability to give clear, realistic advice to clients and colleagues.
• You are confident building relationships with landlords, letting agents, local authorities and partner agencies, and know how to turn conversations into opportunities.
• You can balance warmth with honest, practical conversations about affordability, tenancy readiness, rent, benefits, expectations and the responsibilities that come with a new home.
• You are organised, proactive and tenacious, able to manage competing priorities, keep accurate records and keep move-on plans moving even when barriers appear.

We are looking for an experienced Salesforce Administrator to expand capacity and play a key role in the next phase of our organisation-wide Salesforce rollout. Having successfully implemented Salesforce for donor management, we are now expanding the platform to support our international field operations.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about using their research and evaluation skills to join our growing Research Impact and Evaluation team as a Research Assistant to help improve support for vulnerable children and young people, and ultimately make a positive difference in their lives.

Coram is the UK’s first and longest continuing children’s charity established in 1739 as The Foundling Hospital. Today we are a group of specialist organisations, working in the UK and around the world to support vulnerable children and young people from infancy to independence, creating positive change that lasts a lifetime. This role will be based in Coram’s Research Impact and Evaluation team within Coram’s Institute for Children and will focus on delivering research projects and evaluations, both externally commissioned or within the Coram group. The role offers exciting opportunities to build links with economists, statisticians, academics, and researchers to pursue research dedicated to improving the life chances for children and young people.

Coram’s Research Impact and Evaluation Team includes 12 researchers and a network of research associates, pro bono analysts and peer researchers. We carry out qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research with children and young people which often includes their parents/carers and the professionals who support them. This includes a wide range of evaluations from feasibility studies and process evaluations through to large-scale, multi-site experimental and quasi-experimental impact evaluations. We work in-house to support colleagues in the Coram group of children’s charities to evaluate their effectiveness and include the voice of children and young people. We are also commissioned to carry out evaluations for the What Works Centres, the public sector including local authorities, central government, and the NHS, as well as other third sector organisations.

As a team we aspire to be child-centred, rigorous, grounded in experience, embedded in practice, collaborative and impactful. We use co-design and participatory research methods to challenge power imbalances within research and work with marginalized groups.

MindWorks is a research programme designed as a randomised controlled trial to test a specialist intervention for young people at risk of school exclusion due to challenging behaviour. Grounded in CBT and systemic approaches and underpinned by a strong anti-racist framework, the programme recognises the impact of structural inequality and works closely with schools, families and communities, with young people recruited directly through education settings. Please note: there are six positions available and the role is known internally as Practitioner.

What you’ll do

You will deliver a structured, short-term intervention (typically over eight weeks) to young people and their parent or carer, combining therapeutic work with collaboration across the wider school network, including trusted adults. The role is outreach-based, primarily taking place in schools, family homes and community settings. It involves providing direct clinical support, working systemically with families and education staff, and contributing to a wider research trial while applying evidence-based, trauma-informed and mentalisation approaches.

What you’ll bring

Essential requirements:

• Proven therapeutic experience in supporting young people in community and education settings, working systemically with families and other key adults.
• Relevant qualifications and expertise: training in psychology or a related mental health field, with the ability to deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people.
• Cultural competence and inclusion: ability to work effectively across diverse cultural contexts, applying inclusive, anti-discriminatory practices within clinical work.
• Strong communication and collaboration: skilled at building relationships, communicating complex ideas clearly, and working with multiple stakeholders while using supervision effectively.
• Organisation, safeguarding, and research commitment: capable of managing workload across settings, maintaining accurate records, applying safeguarding standards, and engaging fully with research trial requirements.

Our products and services equip and inspire nearly 3000 local CAP workers and volunteers in their mission to come alongside those that are in financial crisis or vulnerability to bring practical help and the good news of Jesus.. CAP stands with the local church in its mission to its community.  Currently these products include Debt Help, Job Clubs, Life Skills and Money Coaching and it is the development of these offerings that form the core focus of the role.

These service lines have been built at different times by different people and sit quite separately. Today we have a clear view of our target client, a new set of models for how we partner with churches and so we want to architect now are the customer journeys and experiences that draw these threads together. 

Purpose:

This role of Head of Customer Experience (CX) and Service Innovation reports to the Chief Agility Officer, and is the chief service architect of the CAP church-based movement’s ecosystem. This role will lead our transition towards a modular suite of services, ensuring every interaction across our audiences are seamless, dignifying and high-impact. The role is responsible for balancing safety, regulation and theology with flexibility and innovation, enabling a national movement to grow at scale.

Accountabilities:

Team and Capability Development

• Capability Leadership: Recruit, manage, and mentor a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team, fostering a collaborative and mission-driven culture.

• Maturity of Practice: Define and establish best-in-class methodologies and quality standards for CX, service blueprinting, user research, and rapid prototyping across the Agility team, ensuring all practices align with the FCA/Safeguarding regulatory requirements.

• Cross-Functional Embedding: Work with peer Heads to embed CX and product thinking principles throughout the movement, supporting other teams to adopt a user-centric, iterative mindset.

Modular Service Architecture (Design to Grow)

• Innovation: Deconstruct complex services into modular components. Ensure the foundation is robust and regulated (FCA/Safeguarding), while allowing churches to adapt services to their unique community context.

• Movement-Led CX: Focus on Partner Effort.  Designing digital and physical journeys that make it significantly easier for a church to join, launch, and sustain a CAP ministry.

• Movement-Focused Impact: Simplifying the technology stack church partners are wrestling with.  Evolving CAP’s digital infrastructure from a fragmented set of tools, towards an integrated Mission Suite.

• Productisation of Onboarding: Partner with the wider movement to turn the onboarding process into a high-quality product that inspires and equips without lag and reduces pain points.

Decentralised Content & Knowledge Strategy

• Community Drive Content Strategy: Shift content from centralised, high-production manuals to a dynamic, community-curated Knowledge Commons.

• Modular Learning: Ensure all training and coaching materials are bite-sized, searchable, and easily swappable, reflecting the diverse voices of the UK-wide movement.

Impact-Led Design

• Embedded Insight: Work with the Head of Impact to bake measurement frameworks into service design. Ensure that impact data is a real-time byproduct of the service, not an additional task for the church.

• Data Completeness at Source: Work with the Head of Impact to increase the percentage of impact data points (as defined by the the impact framework) captured automatically during the natural flow of service delivery (reducing the need for manual surveys or back-office data entry).

• Enabling the Impact Community of Practice: Work with the Head of Impact to ensure Insight and Evidence content is accurately and efficiently captured through good design.

• Closing the Feedback Loop: Translating voices across Client, Church and Supporter.  Working with insights from across the movement into immediate improvements.

Senior Leadership Team Contributions:

• Be a key member of the Agility and organisation leadership team, demonstrating and living out CAP’s values.

• Provide strategic counsel to the Chief Agility Officer and Executive Leadership Team on product-related matters.

• Represent CAP at industry events and conferences, establishing the organisation as a thought leader in the social impact space.

• Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive organisational change and improve overall operational efficiency.

• Play an active role as a member of the team in:

  • Platform Democratisation: Advocate for low-code/no-code solutions that move configuration closer to the business teams, reducing technical bottlenecks and increasing the speed of test and learn.

• Team Capability Index: Achieve an agreed-upon score on the internal capability maturity assessment for the CX/Innovation function

• Partner Effort Score (PES): A specific metric measuring "How easy was it to launch your latest CAP service?" (Target: Year-on-year reduction in perceived effort).

• Modular Component Adoption: The percentage of church partners using at least one component (e.g. a centre created idea) alongside traditional CAP created products and services.

• Partner Retention Rate: Reduction of the number of centres who leave due to system/process frustration

• Partner Created Content Usage Ratio: Track an increase in the percentage of church-contributed content that is verified and adopted by other churches in the movement.

• Onboarding Automation: The percentage of the Church Partner Journey that is self-service vs. requiring manual intervention from the Church and Client Support team.

• Meantime to innovation: Reducing the time it takes from idea to implementation.

• Innovation Roadmap: Developing an inspiring and impact focused roadmap with detailed business cases and projected impact targets, ready for philanthropic engagement

• Team Engagement/Retention: Maintain an average team engagement score above the organisational target and meet specific goals for voluntary staff turnover within the immediate team.
