We have an exciting opportunity for a COMMUNITY BUILDER to join our Community Development team, working to support local veterans to take an active role in their communities.
This is a hands-on, relationship-led role focused on bringing people together, building trust, and enabling community-led action. You will work with veterans, local residents, community groups and organisations to strengthen connections and create opportunities for people to participate, contribute and thrive.

About The Role
As a Community Builder, you will work with members of the Armed Forces Community, particularly those who may face barriers to participation or engagement.
This role may also be described in other organisations as a Community Development Officer or Community Engagement Officer.
A Community Builder is a relationship-led professional who brings people together, builds trust, strengthens local networks and supports communities to take action on the things that matter most to them.
In this role, you will be actively visible and present within your local community, building trusted relationships and supporting conversations that help people connect and collaborate.
You will facilitate conversations with veterans, local residents and community groups to understand local strengths, interests and priorities. You will connect people with shared interests and ideas, helping to build collaboration and encourage community-led action. You will support community ideas to develop into practical activities, projects and opportunities, and you will work with local organisations and partners to strengthen community networks.
This role brings together community engagement, facilitation and partnership working to create meaningful, long-term impact.
What a Typical Two Weeks Might Look Like
Community Development is a flexible role shaped by the needs of local people and communities, with some evening and weekend working required.

About You
We are looking for someone who is motivated by working with people and passionate about helping communities connect and thrive.
You may already have experience in community development, or come from a background such as housing, social care, education, youth work or the wider charity sector. What matters most is your ability to build trusted relationships, engage people effectively and support collaboration that leads to positive change.
You will be an excellent communicator, able to build trust, inspire action and work effectively with a wide range of people and organisations. You will also be comfortable working independently, managing a varied workload and developing strong working relationships across different groups.
We are looking for someone with:
- A Community Development qualification and/or transferable Community Development skills and experience.
- An awareness of (or willingness to learn) Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) – an approach focused on building on the strengths, skills and connections already present in communities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships that drive action.
- A track record of successful collaboration with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
- Effective and efficient organisational and IT skills.
PLEASE NOTE:
- The successful candidate will need to be based within a 30-minute commute of their allocated locality and there is a requirement to travel regularly across the wider area (travel expenses covered). The successful candidate must possess a valid full UK driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance for work purposes.
- There will also be a requirement for occasional travel to other UK locations for meetings and events depending on the charity’s needs such as our annual all colleagues in person event.
- The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week over 5 days, Monday - Sunday. Core working days will be Monday to Friday; however, flexibility is essential, as regular evening and weekend work will also be required to meet the needs of the role. Working hours will vary to ensure a total of 70 hours is covered over a two-week period, so please take this into consideration before applying.

The Senior Housing Advisor at SSAFA’s Glasgow’s Helping Heroes (GHH) leads the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred housing and homelessness support for members of the Armed Forces community at risk of homelessness. The postholder provides professional oversight of housing advice, casework and tenancy sustainment, setting clear standards for inclusive practice and addressing barriers to housing.
The role involves supporting triage, allocating and monitoring caseloads, and guiding staff on complex and high‑risk cases. Alongside holding a caseload, the postholder focuses on quality assurance, escalation, problem‑solving and service development.
The postholder will oversee the use of rent deposit, first‑month rent and emergency accommodation funding, ensuring fair and transparent decision‑making, and contributes to tenancy sustainment outcomes, service planning and reporting. This role combines leadership with operational oversight, supporting staff development, safeguarding and data quality while playing a key role in preventing homelessness and supporting veterans to secure and sustain safe housing.
This is a community‑based role involving citywide travel, outreach work and home visits, requiring flexibility to respond to urgent or changing needs.

About the Team
GHH, based at the Pearce Institute in Govan and delivered in partnership with SSAFA and Glasgow City Council, provides trusted support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families. Our trauma‑informed, holistic approach offers wraparound assistance that addresses housing needs alongside wider wellbeing challenges, helping beneficiaries build resilience and sustain long‑term housing solutions.
The service operates a gateway model, giving the Armed Forces community a single point of contact for housing, financial, employability and wider support.
You’ll be part of a highly collaborative network, working closely with local and national partners such as Citizens Advice Scotland, Veterans Housing Scotland, Erskine, Scottish Veterans Residences, Defence Medical Welfare Services, Homeless Casework Teams and Homeless Network Scotland. The role also involves attending stakeholder events that may occasionally fall outside of standard office hours.
About you

This is an exciting opportunity to join our service supporting Carers across City of London to improve their health and wellbeing, and access support that meets their needs. We are working with Carers from a range of cultures, and it would be an advantage to speak Bengali.
The team work holistically with Carers to understand their individual circumstances and level of need. You’ll carry out home visits and community-based meetings, co-produce support plans, and develop effective relationships with Carers, families, and professionals. You will also support Carers to complete written forms and applications, draft letters, and advocate with third parties.
You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. The role also requires you to support the development of escalation plans so that Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.
Together with colleagues, you will plan and deliver the service’s activity package, including coffee mornings, drop-in sessions, activities, online and face to face groups, and peer support forums. There will also be opportunities to promote the service by attending meetings and forums, and to deliver training sessions to professionals and community organisations so that they have the skills to identify Carers.
Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector.

Purpose of the Role
The Head of Operations is the most senior staff member at PACE and the primary day-to-day operational lead for the organisation. The postholder will ensure that services for children and young people are delivered safely, consistently, and to a high standard across all three sites, and that the organisation's systems, finances, people, and compliance obligations are properly managed.
This is an operational leadership role with responsibility for translating the Board's strategic direction into effective day-to-day delivery. Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership and Service Delivery

• Support and line manage Senior Centre Managers and Service Managers, providing clear direction, regular supervision, and accountability.
• Ensure all services meet regulatory requirements including EYFS, Ofsted standards, safeguarding and child protection legislation, and disability inclusion policy.

• Identify and respond to operational risks across sites, escalating to the Board where appropriate.
2. Safeguarding
• Act as the organisation's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), maintaining overall responsibility for safeguarding practice across all sites.
• Ensure centre managers and service leads fulfil their DSL responsibilities and that training, records, and incident reporting are consistent, up to date, and audit-ready.
• Lead the organisation's response to any safeguarding concern or Ofsted inspection, maintaining transparent and proactive communication with commissioners and the Board.

3. Financial Management and Budget Oversight
• Work with the Finance team to manage the organisation's annual budget, ensuring income and expenditure are tracked accurately and reported monthly.

As the Policy and Campaigns Officer for Scotland, you will be the driving force behind our policy development, political monitoring, and strategic advocacy in Scotland. Your work will champion the strategic interests of dietitians as both a professional membership body and a registered trade union. Alongside core policy work, you will take direct ownership of designing and delivering a high-profile national campaign which is delivered across the UK. This allocated campaign will focus on a critical theme impacting both public health and our workforce.
The role sits within the BDA’s policy and public affairs function, and you will be part of a small team of policy officers and a public affairs officer who work across the other home countries and the UK. You will have access to an established Scotland board, a colleague who covers trade union representation in Scotland and a supportive professional practice, communications and leadership team based at our Birmingham head office.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The post holder will deliver on the following key responsibilities:
Policy development and advocacy (55%)
- Monitoring the political environment in Scotland in our key areas of interest, providing briefs and advice to the Scotland board and BDA senior leadership team on developments within Holyrood, NHS Scotland, STUC and local government.
