The Special Events function operates within the Philanthropy team, organising events to support our mission. The role of Special Events Associate will give you the opportunity to support the team in planning and delivering engaging events that highlight our clients' stories and the impact of our work, inspiring audiences to start or continue their support. Your role will include assisting with the planning and delivery of events, maintaining good relationships with internal and external stakeholders, managing event communications and collateral, processing data accurately and securely, event analysis and evaluation and more, offering a chance for you to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact.

In this exciting role you will:

  • Assist with the planning and delivery of special events, working closely with the Special Events and Event Talent Lead.
  • Work with teams across St Mungo’s, including our Philanthropy, Partnerships and Public Engagement teams, to help create and deliver engaging events for donors and partners that contribute to achieving wider team objectives.
  • Provide excellent supporter care and customer service, responding to event enquiries and co-ordinating event communications.
  • Provide admin support to the Special Events function, ensuring the database (Raiser’s Edge NXT) is accurately maintained and up to date for events, and you’ll assist with reporting and gathering insights post-event.
  • Follow fundraising best practices, adhere to St Mungo’s policies, and contribute to a supportive team culture.

Where you’ll be working

You will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Farringdon, London. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with a proactive approach to learning and a passion for making a difference. You might already be in a similar role, have some previous experience in organising events or may be looking to bring transferable skills and a willingness to learn, to the role. Either way, if you want to get stuck into a new challenge, we encourage you to apply if you can demonstrate the following:

  • Good organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage your own time, multiple tasks and priorities in a busy team environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle enquiries and situations professionally, provide excellent customer service and build effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Some previous experience assisting with the planning, organising, and delivery of in-person and virtual events (e.g. virtual may be webinars or large meetings with external attendees, delivered via Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or other platforms) or you have a willingness to learn and are able to demonstrate transferable skills that can support with the above.
  • Good admin skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with experience of or willingness to develop skills in CRM databases (eg. Raiser’s Edge) and digital communication and collaboration tools.

St Mungo's are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We strongly encourage applications from all under-represented groups.
