Role Overview: The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of The Vavengers Charity. Working closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees, the COO ensures the organisation operates efficiently, sustainably, and in accordance with its charitable objectives, governance requirements, and legal obligations. The COO will oversee the charity's day-to-day operations, work closely with the CEO to improve organisational systems and processes, manage operational risks, and support the delivery of high-quality frontline, campaigning and convening programmes while fostering a positive and inclusive organisational culture. Alongside the CEO and other team members, the COO is an inspiring leader who champions the charity’s values, elevates its profile, and steers its work to influence national and international policy and advocacy, engage communities, and support survivors of violence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Support the CEO in delivering the charity's strategic plan.

• Translate strategic priorities into operational plans and measurable outcomes.

Operational Management

• Lead the day-to-day operational management of the charity.

• Develop and maintain effective operational policies, procedures, and systems.

• Manage the resources and visitors of Vavengers HQ and ensure the space is utilised effectively by ambassadors and members of the charity

Governance and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with charity law, employment legislation, safeguarding requirements, data protection regulations, and relevant regulatory standards.

• Support the CEO and the Board of Trustees through timely reporting and implementation of governance decisions.

Financial Oversight

• Work alongside the CEO and Treasurer to develop and monitor the annual budget and management accounts/cash flow.

• Actively participate in income-generating activities, including supporting grant applications, other fundraising initiatives, and partnership building.

Assistant Director of Community Fundraising & Engagement

ABF is the Army’s national charity, providing a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their families. With an established regional fundraising network, a loyal volunteer base and ambitious plans for growth, they are now seeking an experienced community fundraising leader to build on strong foundations and enhance fundraising performance across the organisation.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a team of nine Regional Directors, providing strategic fundraising leadership while helping ABF evolve its approach to community and events fundraising. The Assistant Director will play a key role in shaping the community fundraising and engagement strategy, improving ROI across fundraising activities and strengthening collaboration between regional teams and head office. As Assistant Director of Community Fundraising & Engagement, you will:

As Head of Service for the Hub, you will provide strong clinical leadership, delivering targeted therapeutic support for complex cases while overseeing referrals and therapeutic pathways within the Hub. You will lead and support a multidisciplinary team of volunteer counsellors, trainees and therapeutic coaches, modelling trauma‑informed, relational practice shaped by PACE values and reflective supervision.

Alongside direct delivery, you will play a key role in developing the Hub’s reach and effectiveness, working collaboratively with TLG, Emmanuel Church London (the Greenwich Hub partnering church) and local referrers. Safeguarding, quality and professional excellence are central to the role, with responsibility for ensuring the Hub is a safe, welcoming and effective space for children and families from diverse backgrounds to find healing and hope.

Due to the pioneering nature of this role, its scope may initially feel broad, as a key focus in the Hub’s early stages will be on shaping and developing the service with the church and central TLG team. The relationships built and fundraising activity enabled through this role will support Boaz’s work with people who are facing or experiencing homelessness because of their insecure, changing or uncertain immigration status. Day to day, you will provide excellent care for supporters as you process and acknowledge donations, respond to supporter enquiries and ensure that our fundraising database is functioning well and information is recorded accurately in it. Purpose of the role

The Project Manager will lead the delivery of MindOut's National Lottery Heritage Fund project, Speaking Our Minds: MindOut 25+ Years and LGBTQ Mental Health, an innovative 18-month heritage programme documenting, preserving and sharing over 25 years of LGBTQ mental health history.

Working with LGBTQ communities, volunteers, staff, former service users, heritage partners and community organisations, the postholder will oversee all aspects of project planning, delivery, evaluation and legacy. This includes oral history collection, digital archiving, volunteer management, community engagement, public exhibitions and dissemination activities.

The Project Manager will ensure the project is delivered safely, ethically and inclusively whilst meeting all National Lottery Heritage Fund outcomes, budgets, milestones and reporting requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a significant LGBTQ heritage project that will create a lasting record of community resilience, mental health activism, peer support and social change.

Role description

You will bring the experience, confidence, organisational skills and values required to lead a complex community heritage programme involving lived experience storytelling, volunteer participation, community partnerships and public engagement.

Main Tasks

Project Management

· Manage the set up and delivery of a new Speaking Our Minds project in a medium-size charity.

· Develop and maintain detailed work plans, project timelines, budgets, risk management and ensure milestones and National Lottery Heritage Fund requirements are met.

· Provide regular progress reports in line with project timeline, budgets and outcomes for the Charity Director

· Design and deliver co-production workshops, reflection sessions and community consultation activities centring values such as co-production, lived experience and trauma aware with diverse participation and inclusion.

Oral History & Heritage Collection

· Lead the collection of a minimum of 25 oral histories documenting LGBTQ mental health heritage.

· Ensure interviews are conducted ethically and in accordance with Oral History Society guidance and project protocols.

· Coordinate transcription, metadata creation, cataloguing and archive preparation.

· Oversee collection of photographs, documents, memorabilia and contextual materials that support interpretation of MindOut's history.

This is an impactful role working in a supportive and collaborative environment. The Volunteer Manager is responsible for implementing a sustainable volunteer strategy, onboarding journey and programme across the charity. This varied role oversees the promotion of volunteering, internal and external relationship building, all stages of volunteer recruitment, HR checks and onboarding and the coordination of an effective volunteer mandatory training programme. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and inspire a positive culture of volunteering within the organisation.

• Coordinate and oversee the induction and mandatory training for newly appointed volunteers, delivering the mandatory charity training session in collaboration with the Learning and Development Manager.
