Job description

Join ACT and help shape the future of Citizenship education

The Association for Citizenship Teaching (ACT) is the national subject association for Citizenship education. We support teachers, schools and education leaders through professional development, teaching resources, research and policy engagement to ensure every young person benefits from a high-quality Citizenship education.

This is an exciting time to join ACT. Following the Government's Curriculum and Assessment Review, Citizenship education is being strengthened across secondary education and introduced as a statutory subject in primary schools for the first time. ACT is working closely with government, education partners and schools to help shape this next chapter.

We're looking for a Membership and Communications Coordinator to join our small, friendly and collaborative team.

This varied role combines membership support, administration and digital communications. You'll be the first point of contact for many of our members, helping to deliver excellent customer service while supporting our communications across email, social media and our website.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting and retaining ACT members through excellent customer service
  • Managing membership records and helping maintain our CRM database
  • Coordinating email newsletters and member communications
  • Drafting and publishing website and social media content
  • Supporting marketing campaigns and membership growth
  • Providing administrative support across communications, events and organisational projects
  • Monitoring membership and engagement data to inform our work

About you

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, organised and proactive
  • An excellent communicator with strong written English
  • Experienced in administration or customer service
  • Confident using IT systems and databases
  • Interested in communications, marketing and digital content
  • Enthusiastic about supporting education and the work of a national charity

Why join ACT?

As a small charity, every member of our team makes a real difference. You'll have the opportunity to work with teachers, policymakers and education organisations across England while helping strengthen Citizenship education for thousands of young people.

We offer:

  • Hybrid and flexible working
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • 6% employer pension contribution
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Salary sacrifice scheme
  • A supportive, collaborative team with opportunities to develop your skills

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace. If you require any adjustments during the recruitment process, we'd be happy to discuss these with you.
