The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) is a membership organisation and the voice of the profession, with over 4,000 members in the UK and overseas. Our role is to champion the specialty, set standards of training and practice, and influence change to make a difference to the lives of patients with eye conditions.

Job Purpose

 The Membership Administrator will support work relating to membership customer service, recruitment, retention, subscriptions, data management and communications.

The post requires strong attention to detail, experience in using CRM systems and excellent customer service and communication skills as the first point of contact in our membership team.

Main responsibilities

 Membership

• Respond to enquiries about membership by email and phone, and being the first point of contact for membership issues
• Process applications for membership ensuring applicants meet the criteria and provide correct documentation e.g. sponsors 
• Suggest improvements to the membership application process
• Ensure member information is up to date within the CRM
• Ensure membership pages of the website are up to date
• Facilitate access to membership benefits
• Providing mailing list for the publishers of the Eye journal
• Assist in the production of regular membership communications
• Provide reports for Council on the number and names of new members and those gaining fellowship by examination
• Assist in the production of promotional material for use at courses and events

Subscriptions

• Administrate Direct Debit process
• Apply bank transfer payments to member accounts
• Administrate collection process of overdue membership payments

General

• Assist the Membership Elections Manager with arrangements for the College elections as appropriate

• Assist with the work of the membership working group including arranging meeting logistics, including dates, location and catering

About Global Health Partnerships

One billion people will never see a qualified health worker in their lives. For over thirty years, GHP has been working to change this, training health workers to build a world where everyone has access to affordable and quality healthcare. We do this by leveraging the expertise and energy of the UK health community, supporting health partnerships between hospitals, colleges and clinics in the UK and those overseas. 

From reducing maternal deaths in Uganda to improving the quality of hospital care for injured children in Myanmar, we work to strengthen local health systems and build a healthier future for all. In the past seven years alone, GHP has reached over 84,000 health workers across 31 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia in partnership with over 130 UK institutions and UK health workers who have contributed over 60,000 days of their time as volunteers. The programme has contributed to more effective and efficient health systems in low- and middle- income countries (LMICs).1 It also benefits the UK health sector through improved health professional competencies, motivation, health service innovations and global influence.2 GHP’s work is rooted in the Health Partnership Model. Health partnerships are long-term, institutional relationships between health organisations in the UK and their counterparts in LMICs, and are based on ideas of co-development, reciprocal learning and mutual benefit. Staff from UK health institutions volunteer their time developing and carrying out health systems strengthening activities at their LMIC partner institution, be that training, curriculum development, leadership and governance, etc. 

UFUQ project overview:

The project is strategically designed to uplift the health conditions of the Syrian population. It addresses critical elements of health workforce management and medical education in Syria, aiming for a transformative impact on health outcomes in the region. 

Specialized Medical Education Enhancement: 

UFUQ aims to enable targeted specialties in Syria to play a pivotal role in advancing medical education and practice. This encompasses a comprehensive review, update, and rollout of curricula, teaching, and assessment materials in emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and anaesthesiology. The project focuses on strengthening capacities in medical education, clinical/CPD areas, English language proficiency, research skills, and fostering scientific collaboration and partnership among and between faculties, residents, and international peers.

Rooted in the UFUQ philosophy, this intervention believes that by strengthening the systems and capacities for specialized medical education, the quality and accessibility of specialist health services will be markedly improved. The UFUQ project envisions a transformative approach contributing to the broader goal of achieving universal health coverage and delivering better-quality care in Syria. 

Objective of the Position 

The Technical Manager Medical Education will provide technical expertise to ensure the project and partners are all working to a shared vision for Post Graduate Medical education and that all are delivering within appropriate technical requirements and standards.  The position will coordinate with stakeholders, supervise technical staff, and ensure the program aligns with the project log frame and best practices in health workforce development and medical education. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Ensure technical alignment of the UFUQ project with HRH strategies and medical education reforms in Syria. 

• Provide overarching technical leadership and guidance to ensure that all project’s Medical Education strengthening activities are aligned with international best practices in postgraduate medical education and health workforce development.

• Ensure technical coherence and alignment of project interventions with the log frame, theory of change, and objectives approved by the donor and Syrian partners. 

• Oversee the quality assurance of technical deliverables, including research, training curricula, and policy frameworks developed under the UFUQ project, and ensure their relevance, scientific validity, and GESI sensitivity. 

• Promote capacity-building efforts, and quality assure ToT programs for HRH actors at national and sub-national levels. 

• Lead the technical coordination and engagement with key stakeholders, including MoH, Syrian Board, academic institutions, professional associations, and international partners (e.g., RCOG, RCEM)., to strengthen technical collaborations within the UFUQ project and to ensure integration and complementarity across all project activities.

• Support the localisation of the Postgraduate Medical Education Diploma and other training efforts, guiding National partners (Center of Strategic Studies and Health training” and Syrian Board) teams in the adoption of the tools, standards, and accreditation systems. 

• Contribute to sustainability planning by supporting the development of Terms of Reference and standard operating procedures for the Specialties Technical Committees. 

• Represent the program in technical meetings with donors, MoH, and other HRH actors.

• Ensure that GESI is integrated across all tracks by supervising the GESI specialist, reviewing curricula and training plans, and leading the technical team in implementing inclusive strategies. 

• Promote mechanisms for feedback from women healthcare workers and residents, and ensure their needs are addressed in planning and implementation. 

• Support In-Country efforts for Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) to align with UFUQ project indicators and outcomes.

• Identify technical risks, bottlenecks, or inconsistencies in project delivery and propose corrective actions in coordination with the Program Lead and donor if required. 

• Provide rapid-response technical input when issues arise in curriculum roll-out, clinical mentoring, or institutional engagement. 

• Lead the design and planning of new or amended technical activities.

Qualifications & Experience 

• Advanced degree (Master or PhD) in Medical Education preferably with experience in developing postgraduate medical education programmes. 

• Experience working in a senior position in NGO context (Syrian context is preferred). 

• Previous experience in stakeholder coordination, policy analysis, and capacity building. 

• Strong understanding of GESI-sensitive approaches in health workforce planning and governance. 

• Excellent representational, written, and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic. 

• Organisational and administrative skills with sound IT skills (Word and Excel). 

• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. 

• Flexibility and adaptability to work independently in a small organisation and in a complex environment.

The Grants Officer will work as part of the Grants & Programmes Team to support organisations applying for funding each year through the Foundations grants programme.  The post holder manages important relationships with potential and current grantees, building trust and an understanding of their purpose and aims and supporting them to submit appropriate and high-quality applications for funding against the funds criteria and Foundation’s priorities. To contribute to wider initiatives, as directed by the Senior Grants Manager to ensure the Foundation maintain high standards and contribute to national data sharing and initiatives that strengthen the work and reach of the foundation. The Grants Officer will report to the Senior Grants Manager and will work closely with colleagues across the Foundation contributing to the delivery of the Foundation’s Strategic Plan, Vision and values.

Responsibilities
To undertake tasks associated with BLCF's grantmaking functions, including carrying out due diligence and assessments of grants applications (under the supervision of the Senior Grants Manager).

Process all applications within agreed timelines, working alongside Fund Leads to review and assess grant applications effectively. 

Work alongside members of the team and Data Officer to maximise use of our in-house CRM database for monitoring and impact reporting.  

Provide grant-making support and advice to potential and existing grantees on our funds and programmes, under the guidance of the Senior Grants Manager, to ensure open and transparent access to our programmes and proactively looking to address inequality and fairer access to opportunities the Foundation offers. 

Work closely with other members of the team to ensure that the Foundation achieves excellence in grant-making and all its operational aspects.

The Deputy Service Manager supports the Service Manager in effectively managing all operational matters within their designated services, including line management of frontline staff.

The Deputy Service Manager shares responsibility for ensuring that a holistic and cohesive approach to customer support is embedded across accommodation services. Look Ahead operates trauma-informed and psychologically informed approaches, ensuring customers benefit from strengths-based support practices. The role requires an individual who embodies psychologically informed practice through their leadership style.

Oaklands & St Kilda consists of two supported accommodation services, each providing six mental health rehabilitation units for young people aged 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health-related hospital admission. The aim is to support young people to gain and develop the necessary skills for independent living and to manage transitions from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult Mental Health Services.

Together, these services support up to 12 young people at any one time, offering a welcoming, supportive environment on a spot-purchase basis.

The successful candidate will deputise for the Service Manager when required. This includes direct line management, leadership, coaching, and supporting Specialist Support Workers, Support Workers, and Waking Night Support Workers. Responsibilities also involve ensuring compliance with current legislation, contractual requirements, financial regulations, and Look Ahead's Policies and Procedures.

The role of Deputy Manager will involve five 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday.

The Care Navigator will support those with long term conditions to access timely care and community support services. Working closely with Camden GP practices and Integrated Care Teams is required as is accurate record keeping using IT systems. For this role it is essential that you to have the ability to travel across Camden as the role involves visiting clients in their own homes. About the role

It’s an exciting time to join CXK as we continue to expand our reach and launch our new 5-year strategy.

We are searching for a Head of Bids, Grants and Tenders to work within our Development and Partnerships Team. This exciting new role will be responsible for writing and submitting compelling bids and proposals that clearly align to CXK’s strategic and operational vision, meeting the needs of our commissioners and funders.

The role will drive income generation and growth for the charity, creating high-quality tender responses on a regular basis, developing a pipeline of current and potential opportunities and proactively ensuring that all business development systems and processes are fully implemented.

As part of our Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Bids, Grants and Tenders will contribute to the strategic development of CXK, working closely with the Director of Development and Partnerships, our service leads, and the wider Senior Leadership Team.

This role will require exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and compelling content aligned to a specification, with a proven track record of successfully responding to complex tender opportunities, and grant submissions. 

The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of public or the not-for-profit sector and the areas impacting our work, such as education, employability, skills, rehabilitation and justice.  This will be supported by proven experience of managing end-to-end tender processes and the achievement of financial targets.

In alignment with SPANA's 2023-2027 strategy and the Global Programmes Department 2025 business plan, the Programme Quality and Delivery (PQD) team is focused on the development of a high quality, innovative portfolio that delivers immediate and lasting change for working animals. 

We are looking for an experienced senior consultant to provide interim strategic support and continuity to our PQD team during a transitional period whilst we recruit for a permanent Head of PQD. 

This is an interim consultancy role focused on delivering key outcomes, offering expert guidance, and ensuring ongoing progress against departmental priorities. The consultant will work closely with the Director of Global Programmes and other team members to contribute to shaping the team’s direction. 

The consultant will be expected to: 

• Provide strategic oversight and guidance across the team’s work; 

• Ensure continued focus on key outcomes and monitor progress; 

• Work with the director of Global Programmes to ensure progress in alignment with SPANA’s strategy and the Global Programmes Department Business Plan.

We have two permanent Funding Officer positions in the Yorkshire and the Humber regional team.

Join us as a Funding Officer and you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference to communities across the region. Working as part of the Yorkshire and the Humber team as part of a team of 20 colleagues you will combine hybrid working - either from home, our Leeds office adjacent to Leeds station, or project visits, to understand how and where amazing people and organisations are transforming neighbourhoods.

If you have previous experience for a funder, then that is great but it’s not a necessity.

• You will need to be confident with comprehension and writing because you will be working with those applying for grants to advise and support them as necessary to develop proposals including project budgets.
• You’ll work with your colleagues to assess and recommend projects for funding. Some days you’ll be attending funders fairs, in person or online, whilst on others you may be meeting with Councils or other funders to share information about need and funding in a particular neighbourhood.
• You’ll also have responsibility for overseeing a portfolio of projects to ensure they are on track. If you have experience of the voluntary sector that would be ideal, particularly in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
• Confident in writing, comprehension and with an understanding of budgets you will be passionate about supporting communities to build on their strengths to improve lives.

Location: Leeds is the local office – Hybrid, flexible working style with a requirement to travel into the communities

Essential criteria

• Communication skills: Strong report writing skills to produce concise, written recommendations for assessment purposes within strict timescales. Listening and verbal communication skills also important.
• Analytical skills: Ability to assess a high volume of applications, make good judgements, challenge when appropriate and manage risk.
• Relational skills: Ability to nurture, develop and promote effective relationships and communication with colleagues, community organisations and other external agencies with a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.
• An ability to adapt quickly, decisively and with full commitment to new processes and systems and the confidence to use your judgement, take initiative and challenge when appropriate.
• Demonstrable IT skills and the ability to learn detailed processes quickly and accurately.

Desirable criteria

• Knowledge of Yorkshire and the Humber and the charity sector within it. Experience working with under-represented communities in the region is particularly desirable.
• Understanding of financial planning and business plans, ability to analyse accounts and numerical data.
• An ability to manage your own workload with minimal supervision.

Job Purpose

Role Responsibilities:

● Support Finance Manager in day-to-day financial operations, including month-end

and year-end closing processes:

● Cash Management: Overseeing the handling of cash receipts and

disbursements, ensuring accurate recording, and managing bank balances.

This includes reconciling bank accounts and petty cash.

● Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts receivable, accounts payable, and

credit card statements, ensuring that balances are accurate and up to date.

● Journal Adjustments: Making entries in the accounting system to correct errors

or to record transactions that are not entered automatically.

This specifically includes:

● Prepayments: Accounting for expenses paid in advance.

● Accruals: Recognizing expenses incurred but not yet paid, or income

earned but not yet received.

● Payroll: Processing payroll transactions, ensuring accurate payment of

salaries and wages, and recording related deductions and taxes.

● Prepare mid and end of the month BACS payment run and ensure that

suppliers, staff and students are paid within payment terms.

● Support Head of Finance on the external and internal audits;

● Gathering and organising financial records and documents needed for the

audit process.

● Responding to inquiries: Addressing questions and requests for information

from auditors.

● Prepare the VAT statement for review by the Finance Manager.

● Ensure all suppliers’ invoices are attached to purchase requisitions on

ApprovalMax and in Xero.

● Ensure that all income is recorded against the relevant nominal code and cost

● Ensure that all requests for sales invoices are monitored and chased so that

the prompt payment is received.

Person Specification

● ​Previous Officer/Administrator experiences are ideal but not necessary.

● Ability to undertake administrative tasks and development of effective office systems

and procedures.

● Ability to use information technology for word processing, spreadsheets and

databases and ideally you will have a typing speed of over 60 words per minute.

About us: Tender is an arts charity working with children and young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence through creative projects. Our programmes are safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate spaces where young people can engage with sensitive topics and ‘rehearse’ for real-life scenarios. About the role: This is an exciting time for Tender, with both the demand for and reach of our work expanding significantly in recent years. To support this expansion, we are recruiting for a Projects Coordinator to join the London and South East team. Working closely with the Programmes Manager and other Projects Coordinators, the postholder will develop, coordinate, and evaluate impactful projects aimed at promoting healthy relationships amongst children and young people in primary, secondary and specialist schools and settings across London and the South East. This a hybrid role, with some days working from home and some from our London office.

What you will be doing: This role combines hands-on project coordination with oversight of project targets, and stakeholder engagement. You will play a key role in ensuring that projects are planned and delivered smoothly, communicating regularly with settings and the facilitators delivering the workshops; ensuring projects are properly recorded, monitored, and evaluated.

• Coordinate delivery of Tender’s creative education programmes for children and young people in London schools and specialist settings.

About us

Baby Lifeline is a highly respected national charity whose mission is to ensure the healthiest and best outcomes possible from pregnancy and birth.

Founded over 40 years ago by Judy Ledger following the personal tragedy of losing three premature babies, we have since purchased many million pounds’ worth of equipment for maternity and neonatal units, produced nationally recognised reports and research projects, staged highly successful annual UK maternity safety conferences, and provided ongoing evidence-based, multi-professional training to reduce avoidable harm and death in maternity. Training is provided through Baby Lifeline Training Ltd. It trains around 4,000 delegates annually and is one of the main providers/developers of training for maternity professionals in the UK.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Baby Lifeline as Chief Operating Officer.

This dual role will include operational responsibility for Baby Lifeline and Baby Lifeline Training Ltd. Sharing the same building as the charity, the Training company is a not-for-profit social enterprise which operates under a service level agreement and brand licence issued by the charity.

Chief Operating Officer Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that all areas operate efficiently, meet compliance and safety standards, and support the overall purpose of the charity.
• Perform a leading role in driving revenue through developing strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Ideally you will have already worked in the charity sector and are able to demonstrate experience in leading a team to secure an annual income in excess of £1m across various funding streams.

You should be confident in your ability to set ambitious goals and high standards - and be capable and experienced in leading and supporting a team to achieve both the goals and the standards. You will have ultimate responsibility for leading on both identifying and creating a pipeline of TFL funding streams to meet our annual income target.

As the lead for the TFL team, you must be confident in your ability to communicate our case for support to your team, and to both our internal and external stakeholders, ensuring our proposals are compelling, well thought out and deliver value and impact for both our funding partners and TCV.

We would expect you to be skilled and experienced in writing compelling funding applications and be able to critique and act as a sounding board for your teams own individual applications.
