RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate annual calendar of volunteer training events
· Work in partnership with the Volunteer Development Manager to understand volunteer recruitment needs across services and the wider team.
· Liaise with services teams to plan and develop the calendar of volunteer training events, both in person and virtual.
· Manage relationships with training venues ensuring desired dates are secured early in line with event requirements and budgets.
· Proactively research new training venues which meet accessibility requirements.
· Work with team members taking a lead on volunteer training delivery to ensure all training materials are up to date and relevant training packs/goodie boxes are distributed to trainees.
· Liaise with trainees to ensure confirmation paperwork is completed in a timely manner and needs relevant to training are met.
· Keep accurate records and maintain database records to ensure services teams are kept up to date with trainee information and any changes to event attendance.
· Circulate post-training communications to help ensure new volunteers are onboarded in a timely manner.
· Collect and distribute feedback from trainees to ensure quality of delivery is maintained to a high standard.
· Lead, sustain and develop strong and effective working relationships across the Back Up team.
Manage volunteer applications and requests
· Work with Volunteer Development Manager to ensure application process is kept up to date and is easily accessible to prospective volunteers.
· Liaise with potential volunteers, following up on expressions of interest, providing triage, answering queries and providing information relating to roles which may be relevant and of interest to encourage applications.
· Maintain database records ensuring swift distribution of applications to services team
· Support the Volunteer Development Manager to identify areas of potential efficiency and improvement in working practices in the recruitment, training and onboarding processes.
· Work across the wider team to understand and support volunteer requests, proactively approaching active volunteers with projects and opportunities for them to get involved.
· Coordinate volunteer request opportunities with volunteers and volunteer managers to ensure requests are fulfilled to raise awareness of Back Up’s services.
Other duties and responsibilities
· Maintaining accurate records on the database, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
· Be a ‘Data Champion’, leading by example on the importance of good data practice and hygiene, and using the system to its best efficiency.
· Raise awareness of volunteer opportunities via external websites e.g. GoVo, NHS Volunteering.
· Work as a team, consulting with others to ensure you give and receive high quality support.

About the Role
The Communications and Events Officer will be responsible for communication working closely with the Executive Director & the Fundraising Manager to advance FORWARD’s mission by using communications as a tool for social change. This role will deliver FORWARD’s communication and events, working with colleagues to shape narratives to challenge harmful norms, and amplify the leadership and voices of African women and girls.
You will work across the organisation to develop powerful, ethical and impactful stories to help influence policy, engage donors and the public and mobilise supporters. You will be required to translate complex and sensitive issues into communications that are accessible, culturally competent and rooted in a survivor-centred approach. You will ensure FORWARD’s traditional and digital presence is maximised. The role will support campaigns and fundraising to build a sustainable base and help contribute to long-term systemic change.
We are looking for someone who:
· Is experienced in a communications role
· Is highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities
· Has excellent communication and writing skills
· Has strong understanding of communications as a tool for social change, movement building and advocacy
· Has experience managing social media channels and growing engagement across platforms

About the role
We are looking for an exceptional & collaborative individual fundraiser to join the Philanthropy team at King’s College London, leading on fundraising for the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN). You will benefit from a strong donor portfolio, opportunities to work on 7- and 8-figure gifts, and a good understanding of philanthropy from senior leadership within the Institute.
This role will be responsible for managing a portfolio of major gift prospects, securing and stewarding significant philanthropic gifts at the £50k to £5 million gift level, supporting senior stakeholders with their fundraising efforts, and championing the work and priorities of King’s and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience.

Study of the mind and human brain is one of the most exciting and important areas of advancing medical science, and the IoPPN is a leading centre for mental health and neuroscience research in Europe and the largest in the UK. Renowned for its high-quality research, it is the most cited research centre outside the US, and the second most cited in the world.
In partnership with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, the largest mental health service provider in the UK, it enables the rapid translation of research into clinical practice that makes a difference to people’s lives and mental health every day. Research from the IoPPN has led to the creation of much needed therapies for some of the most severe mental disorders and changes in how governments around the world think about mental illness.
A strong understanding of philanthropy from leadership within the Institute, combined with world-leading research has made, and continues to make, an impact on how we understand, prevent and treat mental illness, neurological conditions and other conditions that affect the brain.
This is a full time (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. You should be a graduate from a good university, enthusiastic and very well-organised, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work independently, manage priorities, work to deadlines, and take initiative. The post involves presenting at school assemblies as outreach, working with students to help them prepare costed applications, handling draft applications by email, and accurate data collection and input. This is a joint venture between Citizens Advice Woking (CAW) and i-access, the drug and alcohol community service which offers specialist assessment, support, and treatment to people in Surrey who want help with their drug and/or alcohol use. The role is fixed term to the end of March 2027, but it is hoped that it will continue, subject to funding.
We are looking for a highly motivated person to join our specialist team. It is essential that the applicant has recent experience of advising clients, at Citizens Advice or another comparable organisation.
You will need to demonstrate that you can cope with a demanding caseload and that you are able to monitor and manage your own caseload to meet deadlines. The successful candidate will be required to work with i-access service users, either remotely or in person, the role is to provide information, advice, and casework in all areas of generalist advice, but particularly in the areas of welfare benefits, debt, and housing. Patience and empathy are essential.
The i-access adviser will need to travel to the three i-access locations in Guildford, Redhill, and Chertsey as well as to CAW’s office in Woking. It's likely the role will also entail working remotely from home, which will require a confidential work space and reliable Wi-Fi.

Pay and Conditions of Service
This post is permanent and full-time.
The annual full-time salary for this role is between £47,911 and £53,890, inclusive of London Weighting.
There is a probationary period of six months for this post.
Full-time staff are entitled to 25 days holiday leave per annum with additional days for long service. The timing of holidays must fit in with the needs of the Foundation and must be agreed in advance. In addition to annual holidays there is paid time off for national holidays.
The post will be based in the London office at Unit 17 Deane House Studios, 27 Greenwood Place, London NW5 1LB. Staff currently work two to three days a week in the office.
The normal working week is 35 hours for full-time posts, seven hours per day, Monday to Friday. Standard office hours are 9.00 a.m.-5.00 p.m.
