Development Manager

Purpose of the Role 

The Development Manager will play a vital role in expanding The Churchill Fellowship’s income from Trusts, Foundations, and other institutional funders. Working closely with the Development Director, the post holder will identify, cultivate and secure new funding partnerships that support our core Fellowship programme, unrestricted income, and the Activate Programme in line with our organisational priorities. 

The postholder will manage the full funder journey, from initial engagement to long-term stewardship, ensuring all relationships are grown and managed professionally and effectively. They will work closely with relevant departments to coordinate proposals, reports, and communications, helping maintain strong connections with funders.

Key responsibilities 

Prospecting and Pipeline Development 

• Research and identify new potential supporters, primarily from the Trusts & Foundations sector, with some engagement of aligned individuals or family-foundation prospects in conjunction with the wider Development Team.

• Support the Development Director in delivering targeted cultivation and engagement strategies to grow new income streams.

• Build and maintain a healthy, dynamic pipeline of qualified new business opportunities. 

• Monitor sector trends to identify emerging supporters and new partnership opportunities 

Approaches and Proposal Development 

• Prepare tailored, persuasive funding proposals, applications, and cases for support, drawing on internal expertise and materials. 

• Lead on initial engagement with new prospects, coordinating meetings, briefings and follow-up communications. 

• Manage the cultivation process ensuring prospects receive timely and professional engagement throughout. 

• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proposals are accurate, evidence-based and aligned with organisational objectives.

Relationship Management 

• Act as the key contact for donors and funders secured through this role, managing relationships and ensuring continuity of communication. 

• Work closely with the Development Director, Appeal Director and CEO to coordinate senior-level involvement in funder engagement where appropriate. 

• Ensure accurate monitoring, evaluation and reporting for all grants, providing timely updates and impact information to funders. Liaise with colleagues across the organisation to identify when and how internal contacts or senior volunteers can support prospect engagement, ensuring this complements any existing relationships or approaches. 

Internal Collaboration and Systems 

• Record all activity in Salesforce, ensuring accurate data capture on all prospect and funder activity. 

• Contribute to income forecasting and team reporting

• Collaborate with colleagues across departments to align fundraising approaches with strategic initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging and shared priorities. 

General 

• Ensure fundraising activity complies with relevant regulations, GDPR, and due diligence processes and ethical fundraising policies 

• Support Development team events and activities as required, occasionally outside normal working hours. 

• Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Development Director to support the success of the team and organisation. 

Person Specification

Qualification: 

• Degree level or equivalent transferable skills - Desirable

Skills and Experience 

• 3 - 5 years’ experience in a fundraising, grants or donor facing role, particularly prospecting new funders 
• Proven success in securing funding from Trusts & Foundations or HNWIs, particularly new business (one-off or multiyear grants and repeat grants) 
• Strong experience in research & prospect identification for trusts/foundations or major donors 
• Excellent proposal/application writing, with ability to tailor cases to funder priorities 
• Good interpersonal and communication skills — able to engage funders at senior levels and with colleagues internally 
• Strong organisational skills, managing multiple proposals and deadlines simultaneously 
• Proficiency with CRM systems (preferably Salesforce) and using it to manage pipeline / prospect data 
• Ability to interpret and present information (budgets, impact data, reports) clearly to funders and internal stakeholders 
• Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with senior staff, trustees and senior volunteers 
• Knowledge of fundraising regulations, due diligence and GDPR

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

As Clerk to the Board of Governors

Provide procedural, regulatory, and governance advice to the Board of Governors. Responsibilities include:

• provide administrative support to the governing body, for example: co-ordinating calendar of dates for governing body meetings and preparing agendas, taking notes at meetings for the preparation of minutes and ensuring that all decisions are recorded accurately and objectively, including timescales for actions

• Support the implementation and effective use of New Governance Software and lead the shift to using Generative AI for note taking at meetings. Update and maintain a database of Governance information, ensuring secure handling of confidential data and information in compliance with College Policy and the General Data Protection Regulations.

• support the development and performance of governors in their role, for example: updating them on changes in legislation and policy, informing them of appropriate training and helping them understand their duties

• offer advice to governors and the college on the correct governance procedures and how to improve governance

• Work with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to ensure a high level of governor engagement by ensuring an up-to-date calendar of opportunities, appropriate communications and effective tracking and gathering of feedback

As Governance and Performance Manager

• Support the College’s internal governance function, providing administrative support in scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and taking notes/minutes. Lead the shift to using Generative AI for note taking at meetings and in systems and Processes to improve efficiency.

• Work with the Executive Leadership Team and wider leadership team to co-ordinate regular strategy updates and report on progress against strategic goals and agreed KPIs.

• Input into, and support with the co-ordination of the College’s Wider Leadership Forum and All-Staff sessions.

• Update and Maintain the College’s Risk Register and Master Policy Schedule.

• Assist with co-ordinating internal audit reviews in accordance with approved internal audit plan.

• Receive and co-ordinate timely responses to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.

• Be a collaborative, enthusiastic member of the College’s wider leadership team, working closely with Staff and Governors to help deliver our ambitious strategy.

Background Information and Purpose of Post

As part of our ambitious plans to significantly increase private fundraising, we are looking for a new strategic direction in securing relationships with and income from high-net-worth individuals.

The Philanthropy Specialist at Humanity & Inclusion UK is a new senior fundraising position with responsibility for planning, identifying, cultivating, and managing major donor relationships to secure significant funding, in line with the new global Major Giving Strategy 2026 - 2030.

The purpose of the post is to:

· Develop and deliver HI UK’s strategy for high-net-worth individuals.

· Lead on the new Capital Campaign, 2026-2030, for HI UK.

· Work closely with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and family foundations to develop high-value philanthropic partnerships and ensure sustained, long-term support.

· Secure five- and six-figure major gifts from a diverse and sustainable base of major donors.

· Develop your own prospect pipeline and provide excellent cultivation of your prospects to produce committed, long-term donors.

· Manage existing partnerships and donors to a high standard.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Partnerships

You will have responsibility for developing a new strategy for high-net-worth individual support and you will lead the delivery of this strategy to secure high-value philanthropic partnerships under the responsibility of the Global Specialist in Major Giving.

Capital Campaign

Our new Capital Campaign will be an invaluable tool for you in developing funding from high-net-worth individuals in the UK. You will lead on its launch and recruit a Campaign Committee, stewarding them to deliver results.

Relationship Management

You will lead on the development and stewardship of long-term relationships with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and family foundations.

Income Growth

You will drive the growth of an existing pipeline of high-net-worth individuals and develop this pipeline with new supporters from our individual giving stream and philanthropists who are new to HI, to secure significant gifts.

Collaboration

You will work closely with HI's Global Specialist in Major Giving, HI UK Trustees, our Federal Major Giving team, and international colleagues, to develop compelling proposals and provide timely impact reporting.

Stewardship

You will ensure exceptional donor stewardship and provide a high-quality experience for supporters at every stage of engagement.

Cultivation events

You will initiate and run high quality cultivation events for your donors and prospects, to form part of their stewardship journey.

Data Management

You will accurately manage donor records, communications, and reporting through our CRM.

Other duties

· Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with HI UK colleagues, the Federal fundraising and communication teams, and Major Giving counterparts in other HI national associations in Europe and North America.

The main focus of the role is to secure income for large-scale capital investment at Stanley Arts; alongside developing and maintaining relationships with statutory funders and trusts who maysupport programming and core running costs of the

PURPOSE OF POSITION

This is a critical operational leadership role that is responsible for the operation of the
organisation’s supported accommodation services.

Providing operational leadership to team managers and ensuring compliance with
organisational, contractual, local authority and legal regulations and the quality of
services is pushed to the highest possible standards; ensuring excellent outcomes for
residents and a positive and high performing working environment for teams.

external partners, commissioners, and other key stakeholders for support services in

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Service Delivery

• Lead in setting organisational standards and performance targets across the
support and resident services teams that reflect contractual requirements and
organisational standards.
• Actively promote and develop person centred practices based on a trauma
informed approach and psychologically informed environment to working with
residents with high support needs and challenging behaviour.
• Be accountable for the operational performance of the services, allocating

The role

As Head of Operations, you will lead all operational functions of Foxglove. You will ensure that our finance, HR, legal compliance, fundraising, systems and internal processes enable the organisation to carry out its mission effectively. You’ll work across Foxglove and closely with leadership, as well as with external partners to build a resilient and well-governed organisation, able to manage growth and complexity while staying mission driven. We're a fast-growing charity working to reach every 14-19-year-old across the UK. Thanks to generous funding from partners including Google .org and the Moondance Foundation, we’re now excited to appoint our first Volunteer Manager – a pivotal role in scaling our volunteer base and deepening its impact.

The Volunteer Manager will lead efforts to further grow and diversify our volunteer base, ensuring consistent quality across sessions and fostering a vibrant, connected volunteer community. They will work closely with colleagues across England and Wales, with ambitious targets around attraction and retention.

Key priorities will include:

• Developing strategic partnerships alongside me and our Partnerships Manager
• Understanding the diverse backgrounds and career journeys of our volunteers
• Owning the volunteer experience from first contact onwards and training colleagues to deliver best practice support, ensuring volunteers feel well-prepared, informed about their impact, and inspired to stay involved

As this is a brand-new role, there’s plenty of scope to shape and innovate. It’s a fantastic opportunity for someone with excellent communication skills and a passion for volunteering.
