Who are we?

St. John's is a non-maintained specialist provision, working with autistic people, the majority of whom also have learning disabilities. Some of our learners have co-occurring conditions such as epilepsy, hearing or visual impairments, or mental health needs. We also support autistic learners who have an additional profile of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) syndrome. We have a team built up of support workers, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, PBS practitioners, assistant psychologists, and more, to support us in our holistic approach to development.

Each learner's curriculum is shaped by their individual strengths, interests, and challenges. St. John's is awarded with Autism Accreditation by the National Autistic Society (NAS). We support our learners to develop their skills in the NAS's four focus areas of:

• Difference in social communication and interaction
• Self-reliance and problem-solving
• Sensory
• Emotional Well-being

Our provide safe, supportive accommodation for young people at risk of homelessness, creating a place where they can feel secure, valued, and empowered. At Lansworth House, we provide 20 bedspaces alongside welcoming shared communal spaces for young people aged 16–25.

We take a trauma-informed and psychologically informed (PIE) approach, ensuring every resident receives thoughtful, compassionate support that recognises their individual experiences. Through this framework, we help young people build essential life skills, gain confidence, set meaningful goals, and move toward independent, fulfilling futures with hope and direction.

You will join a passionate team of Support workers, Night workers and Bank staff who provide day-to-day guidance around housing, budgeting, living skills, education, employment, and building healthy relationships. What you will be doing

As Deputy Supported Housing Manager, you will play a key role in the running, quality, and impact of our services. Working closely with the Supported Housing Manager, you will help lead a safe, supportive, and high-performing environment where young people can thrive.

Service Provision

You will support the Supported Housing Manager with the day-to-day delivery of the service, ensuring we meet all requirements set out in the service specification and remain fully compliant with Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) and Ofsted standards. Your responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing the full referral, interview, and induction process for all bedspaces and ensuring that every resident understands their Occupancy Agreement and House Rules.
• Maintaining the quality, safety, and presentation of the accommodation by working closely with our Housing and Property Services team to coordinate estate inspections, health and safety risk assessments, repairs, and the timely turnaround of void rooms.
• Supporting effective income collection across the service, working with the Rents team to build and maintain a positive rent-payment culture among residents.

Leadership and People Management

You will directly line-manage members of the staff team, ensuring their practice, professionalism, and development reflect our high standards. You will:

• Provide coaching, guidance, and clear expectations to ensure staff feel confident, supported, and motivated in their work with young people.
• Create a team culture rooted in creativity, consistency, and best practice, ensuring staff are equipped to empower young people to reach their goals while maintaining appropriate and safe boundaries.
• Be responsible for creating and maintaining staff rotas to ensure adequate service coverage at all times. 

General Responsibilities

• Participate in the management on-call rota, offering out-of-hours support to services across the wider locality.
• Embed Psychologically Informed Environments (PIEs), Trauma-Informed approaches, and restorative practices throughout your work, ensuring our support model is compassionate, reflective, and person-centred.

About you

You will bring experience working in supported housing or similar services, supporting young people and/or adults at risk, along with proven experience in managing or supervising a team. You will be an effective communicator with strong facilitation skills, able to navigate challenging situations with confidence, calmness, and a solution-focused approach. You will also have experience overseeing safeguarding procedures within residential settings, ensuring safety, accountability, and robust decision-making. Just as importantly, you will understand the importance of maintaining professional boundaries, modelling best practice for the team and the young people we support.

About the role

As a Research Grants Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the research funding cycle, from application and peer review through to award management and post‑award administration. You’ll work closely with the Research Grants Manager, internal teams, external experts, and funded researchers to maintain high standards of governance, transparency, and impact across all our research funding activities.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the development, implementation, and management of Macmillan’s research grants programme.

About the Role

We're hiring a Support Mentor to join our women's service based in West London. In this role, you will support residents whom reside within our refuge accommodation which includes women and children surviving domestic abuse many of whom are living with trauma. We are looking for someone who really cares about the rights of women and their children to join our service in West London. 

As a Support Mentor, you will support in providing a much needed safe space and support for women, for them to feel empowered in their healing journey and feel secure in their independence, strengths, and skills. You will work alongside various stakeholders and partners and engage with our residents through various key working activities to identify the needs, goals and skills, then provide pathways, support, and appropriate interventions to support with successful outcomes. We are seeking a passionate, driven and motivated colleague to lead this service in a trauma informed and inclusive way. 

Some Key Responsibilities Include:

• Support women and children who may be facing challenges with surviving domestic abuse many of whom are living with trauma.
• Create tailored support plans through one to one sessions, group sessions, and multi agency meetings
• Support residents to achieve their desired goals/outcomes in various ways
• Empower residents to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.
• Supporting residents to build independence and progress in their healing through engaging activities, from movie nights and arts and crafts to brunch club and fully funded day trips.
• Monitor residents’ wellbeing, carrying out regular welfare checks, and responding to any incidents or emergencies
• Work closely with the rest of the team to provide overall excellent service delivery, this may mean also supporting with their caseloads, and other tasks as necessary
• Keep support plans updated on our online portals as appropriate
• Recognise signs of deteriorating mental health, physical health, or other health implications and initiate appropriate interventions to prevent crisis or other risks.

About You

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Mentor to join our team based in West London who understands the needs of our residents including particularly around multiple and complex needs, including safety, emotional support, healing from trauma, independence and access to resources to achieve their goals. You will be able to work collaboratively as part of a team, and will have alignment with our SIG values. 

You will be keen to support our residents to achieve their individual goals and support them to be the best versions of themselves. Our Refuge works to support women with complex and enduring needs and women who experience domestic abuse to reclaim their power and find their voice. You will be keen to support our residents to achieve their individual goals and support them to be the best versions of themselves and will work as part of a team to deliver exceptional support to women and children at a particularly challenging time in their lives. 

• Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds and/or a good understanding of the sector, particularly around multiple and complex needs
• Experience working with, or a good understanding of, domestic abuse and the systemic barriers faced by women.
• Ability to show empathy and compassion to our residents, and different challenges they face
• Ability to engage with people from different backgrounds, build rapport, and empower them to achieve their personal goals
• Ability to use, learn and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft and other software programs
• Ability and willingness to show flexibility of working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders

This role will be at the forefront of the realisation of SHF’s bold strategic ambitions. You will work alongside our small and dynamic executive team to unlock growth, develop new approaches and communicate our impact.

FUNDRAISING

• Leadership of successful portfolio of grant funding, including stewardship of existing funders, and growth to new ones through high quality applications and proactive identification of opportunities.

About the role

The Corporate Partnerships Officer will play a key role in this growth, managing and securing new corporate partnerships with support from the Corporate Partnerships Manager. Our corporate partnership income has grown from zero in 2020 to c£2.3 million in 2025. It is a very exciting time to be joining the charity and our Fundraising team.

Primarily, you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of corporate partnerships, growing strong relationships, delivering partnership activities, and proactively securing new corporate partnerships, including charity of the year relationships. The role of Health Engagement Worker will involve supporting a caseload of service users that are experiencing homelessness. The role requires the use of specialist knowledge and relationship skills to influence service users with varying degrees of mental health, addiction and trauma related issues to engage with health services.

This will include advocacy in registering them for medical services and accompanying them to appointments; assisting them in addressing all aspects of physical and mental health or substance addiction needs, as well as advocating or them to get access to source housing and social security benefits. Working collaboratively with our partners Arch Healthcare the role is dependent on good communication and joint working with a variety of partners and professionals.

The role requires a high degree of motivation to support complex and vulnerable people, often in a lone-working situation. With a passion to work collaboratively with others for the good of our service users, and with some experience of working in a related field in a voluntary or paid capacity.

A high degree of emotional intelligence is required to support service users, many of whom have complex emotional needs, with backgrounds of trauma, neglect, abuse, crime and low self-worth.
