Project Coordinator (Boys’ Development Team)

As a Project Coordinator you will be responsible for delivering a range of services in primary and secondary schools, supporting FM development and transitional work with boys and young men. The post holder will support the Head of Programme (Boys’ Development Team) with formulating a strategy for developing this work across localities, in line with FM’s vision, mission and values and business plan. A key element will be to support new developments, identify best practice in conflict management work and embed these in current services.

Key Responsibilities

Project Work

• Plan and deliver services that support improved behaviour, wellbeing, engagement, and successful transition from primary to secondary school.
• Work with the line manager to develop and replicate programmes so other practitioners can build skills in these areas.
• Support project development in line with FM’s Business Plan.
• Consult with boys and young men to ensure their views inform service development.
• Follow FM’s Safeguarding policies and procedures.

Record Keeping and Evaluation

• Maintain accurate records of sessions in line with procedures.
• Provide progress reports to schools as required.
• Comply with monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure effective outcomes.
• Follow FM’s data sharing policy when handling service user data.

Collaboration and Teamwork

• Work in partnership with relevant projects, practitioners, agencies, and parents.
• Raise awareness of issues leading to conflict (e.g. transitions, racism, gang culture).
• Build relationships with statutory and voluntary organisations to support boys and young men.
• Promote services locally and support training delivery for practitioners.
• Contribute to the development of best practice models within FM.

General

Our coordinators plan, arrange and deliver a programme of activities shaped around the needs of the young people, making the most of local opportunities, from heritage sites and outdoor adventures, to sports, arts and crafts, cooking, and team challenges. These sessions help children build friendships, grow in confidence, and express themselves in a fun, supportive space.

Family day activities bring families together to create special memories and enjoy time with others who share similar experiences. The Therapeutic Service Co-ordinator & Clinician is a vital member of the DreamArts Core Team. This role combines project co-ordination with direct therapeutic support through our EXPRESS PLUS service and our work with young carers.

EXPRESS PLUS is a free therapy service based in Westminster offering weekly one-to-one or parent-child creative therapeutic support to young people aged 7–18 (or up to 25 with additional needs). It is the only service of its kind in the borough and we provide a safe and welcoming space for clients to explore issues such as domestic violence, sexual abuse, and suicidal ideation.

Sessions take place at three community venues and are delivered by qualified or qualifying therapists using a wide range of creative tools—arts and crafts, sand play, puppets, games—to help young people express themselves in ways that feel natural and safe. With an 80% retention rate after three sessions and two-thirds of clients from global majority backgrounds, the service has a demonstrable impact.

EXPRESS PLUS is proudly user-led. Young people are at the heart of every decision, and the service adapts to meet their needs—typically offering up to 18 weekly sessions, with flexibility depending on circumstances. We accept self-referrals from young people aged 14+, parents/carers, and statutory and voluntary services.

As part of this role, you will also deliver direct therapeutic support to young people with caring responsibilities. This includes offering weekly 1:1 sessions for three young carers and being part of a team facilitating monthly group therapy spaces.

We are looking for a team member who is passionate about the power of creative therapy to support young people. It also offers opportunities to case-manage three-to-four therapists and bring a therapeutic lens across all aspects of DreamArts’ work. We provide appropriate levels of clinical supervision plus a quarterly reflection space to support your professional development.

Please note that the post holder needs to be a qualified psychotherapist/counsellor, with previous experience (paid or voluntary) of delivering 1:1 therapy sessions with children and/or young people.

Highly organised and proactive, you will be comfortable managing multiple relationships and coordinating activities across a range of stakeholders.

You will enjoy working collaboratively and be motivated by the opportunity to help schools access high-quality experiences that make a real difference to students.

The role holder will be required to undertake travel across the region and occasional evening work to support events and stakeholder engagement activities.

Location

Home-based within the region, with regular travel to schools, colleges, partner organisations, and programme events.

Team meetings will take place in our London office and the postholder should expect occasional travel to our HQ at the National STEM Learning Centre in York.
