We are looking for a dynamic, passionate and performance-driven Area Manager for Staffordshire, to lead and manage commissioned services for all victims of crime, including domestic abuse (all risk levels) and anti-social behaviour. The local services also work with those who harm through both the behaviour change and restorative justice services. All services support both adults and children/young people, and offer professional training, awareness and engagement activity. There are dedicated services to support domestic abuse victims/survivors within Safe Accommodation and at Family Court.

This role is full time, regular travel across the area is required and attending Area Manager and other Victim Support events that may be outside of area.

A good understanding of domestic abuse, trauma and the Criminal Justice service is essential.

About the Role

As Area Manager you will oversee delivery of high-quality services across Staffordshire. This includes:

• Oversight of Operational Managers and the overall performance of the various services commissioned
• Developing service delivery/improvement plans and social value plans for each of the services
• Managing service budgets and identifying income generation and/or fundraising opportunities to support business development
• Driving continuous improvement of performance through use of data and other information to ensure teams perform to the highest standards at all times
• Building and leading external relationships promoting positive working relationships to ensure joint working and pathways that lead to the best possible standard of support and outcomes for service users
• Ensuring we listen to and co-design services to meet the needs of our service users, to a standard expected of our commissioners and partners.

You will represent the charity in an appropriate and professional manner to commissioners, stakeholders, external bodies and the media, whilst acting as a voice for victims to the wider community.

• Line manage the Fundraising Manager, providing regular supervision, support, and performance development

Income Generation

• Source and manage CSR partnerships, building relationships with corporate partners and ensuring existing partnerships are well-stewarded

Operations

• Lead on the creation, review, and approval of organisational policies, ensuring Routes' policies are up to date, legally compliant, and reflective of our values

• Oversee day-to-day office administration and organisational housekeeping

• Manage organisational insurance, ensuring appropriate cover is maintained and reviewed annually

• Oversee staff IT, laptops, phones, and software subscriptions, including troubleshooting and managing supplier relationships

Experience

• Experience in a senior leadership role within the charity, social enterprise, or public sector

• Demonstrable experience of managing and developing staff, with a coaching and supportive leadership style

• Experience of income generation in a charity or social enterprise context, including either grant fundraising, corporate partnerships, or programme sales

• Experience of designing or overseeing monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks and producing reports that communicate impact clearly

About School of Hard Knocks

School of Hard Knocks (SOHK) is one of the UK’s leading education charities, working in 29 secondary schools across England, Scotland, and Wales. Using rugby as a key delivery tool, we support young people who are struggling to engage in early secondary education - often because of anxiety, low confidence, disrupted home lives, or behavioural challenges rooted in trauma. For many of the children we support, life has already brought more hardship than most adults experience in a lifetime. The CEO is the public face and leader of SOHK, responsible for the overall strategic direction, vision, and management of the charity - ensuring SOHK meets its mission and strategic objectives while maintaining strong relationships with Trustees, staff, supporters, and the wider SOHK community. As an Officer in ImpactEd Evaluation you will project manage evaluation partnerships with schools, trusts and education organisations, from Theory of Change and evaluation design through data collection and analysis to reporting, with the support of a project sponsor. You will work directly with partners, keep projects on track and in scope, and help partners understand and act on what their data is telling them.

We are open to a range of experience and backgrounds. Prior experience in any of consultancy and partnership management, data analysis and report writing, research and evaluation, or the UK education system is likely to be particularly useful. Officers lead the delivery of specific projects and engagements with support, contribute to revenue generation and service delivery, and mentor junior colleagues.

Partnerships and delivery Project manage evaluation partnerships, coordinating delivery and often leading much of it, with support from a project sponsor. Drive partnerships forward through proactive communication and follow-up, build partner buy-in by involving different stakeholders, and manage scope and the risk of over- or under-delivery.

Evaluation design Facilitate evaluation design with partners: create Theories of Change, design research questions, identify outcome measures and measurement tools, and bring these together in an evaluation framework.

Data collection and analysis Identify suitable approaches to recruiting research participants and facilitate quantitative and qualitative data collection (surveys, existing school data, focus groups and interviews), using our School Impact Platform. Carry out simple inferential statistics independently and more advanced analysis with support, including the data cleaning and matching needed to get data ready.

Reporting and insight Engage with partners to understand the context and purpose of a report and agree the output accordingly. Synthesise the key messages from a complex set of data and report them in an accessible, concise way that fits the partner's context and helps them act.

Colleagues, practice and Group Plan and manage your time, give and act on constructive feedback, communicate openly about progress and blockers, and mentor junior colleagues.
