We have an exciting opportunity to join Birmingham's brand-new Family IDVA Service as a Senior Family IDVA, helping to shape and embed an innovative service supporting families affected by domestic abuse across the city.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in establishing a new city-wide service from the very beginning. Working within Birmingham's Family Hubs, Senior Family IDVAs will combine specialist domestic abuse expertise with leadership responsibility, supporting the safe and effective delivery of services for non-abusive parents and their children who have experienced domestic abuse.

As a Senior Family IDVA, you will work closely with the Operations Manager to support the mobilisation, development and ongoing success of the service. Alongside managing your own caseload, you will provide day-to-day leadership, support and guidance to a team of Family IDVAs, helping to create a positive, high-performing and learning-focused culture.

This permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week) is hybrid, with regular visibility required across Birmingham's 10 Family Hubs. You will lead a dedicated team of 5 Family IDVAs, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality and trauma-informed support to families affected by domestic abuse.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced IDVA looking to take the next step in their leadership journey, or for an existing senior practitioner who is passionate about developing others whilst continuing to make a direct difference to families affected by domestic abuse.

You will also play an important role in strengthening Birmingham's response to domestic abuse, supporting partnership working and helping to build professional confidence across Early Help, education, health and community settings.

About the role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Family IDVA to join Birmingham's new Family IDVA Service. This is one of two Senior IDVA roles, with this post being full time (37.5 hours). This innovative city-wide service will provide specialist domestic abuse support to parents aged 16+ and their children under 18, delivering a flexible, whole-family response that meets families at the earliest opportunity and helps prevent the escalation of harm.

Based within Birmingham's Family Hubs, Senior Family IDVAs will provide specialist domestic abuse support to families through risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support, and partnership working. You will manage a complex caseload, working with families experiencing high-risk and complex domestic abuse whilst ensuring the voices and needs of both parents and children remain central to all aspects of support.

Alongside direct casework, you will support the Operations Manager in the day-to-day delivery and development of the service. You will line manage and support a team of approximately five Family IDVAs, providing coaching, supervision, case guidance and performance support to ensure the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed services. You will lead by example, sharing your expertise, promoting best practice and helping to develop a confident and resilient team.

The role will also involve supporting service quality and performance, including case reviews, audits, reporting and ensuring compliance with service standards and contractual requirements. You will work closely with Birmingham Children's Trust, Family Hubs and a range of statutory and community partners to strengthen multi-agency responses and improve outcomes for families affected by domestic abuse.

In addition, you will contribute to the service's training and engagement offer, helping to build awareness and understanding of domestic abuse amongst professionals across Early Help, education, health and community settings.

Are you an experienced IDVA, ready to work with a creative and dynamic team, advocating for women, families and the LGBT+ community who have experienced Domestic Abuse? Then join us to lead a team of specialist caseworkers, supporting survivors to address practical issues and empower them in their recovery!

The RISE Team Leader will be a skilled independent domestic and sexual violence advocate who will oversee a small team of case and group workers as well as managing Helpline volunteers. She will be a qualified IDVA and ISVA or be willing to complete the accreditations in the first six months in post.

She will hold a caseload of her own and coordinate a team providing support and guidance through a range of interventions and support offers working closely with an experienced Manager and other Team Leaders. Together with their team they will build, maintain and create links to deliver survivor-focused, trauma aware/ responsive support to help survivors and their family to cope and recover.

They will be the lead on developing, implementing and coordinating the Helpline, Casework and Projects with day-to-day practice oversight of staff and volunteers. The Team Leader will work co-operatively and flexibly alongside RISE colleagues providing expert input and contributing to the effective running of the organisation as a whole.

The role

Foxglove is seeking a Digital Campaigner to deliver our digital campaigning, our digital communications, our social media and our website. This role would sit within our advocacy and communications team, which works towards stronger accountability for Big Tech, and an end to states’ misuse of algorithms and AI. 

We want people in power to put an end to tech abuses that negatively impact our lives. But we’re up against an army of Big Tech lobbyists, working to shield their industry – and its vast profits – from any form of restraint. That’s why we need to ensure that the public, and our representatives in government and politics, are armed with the facts and knowledge they need to stand up to Big Tech billionaires.

We’re looking for someone with significant experience in digital campaigning. The Digital Campaigner will not only identify these areas but act to implement the strategy they help devise – taking a hands-on and energetic approach.

About KLS’ Future Foundations education team 

Future Foundations is an education programme of Katherine Low Settlement. Since 2004, KLS’ Future Foundations education team of 10 part-time staff and over 100 volunteers, have supported young refugees and their families in Battersea and the London Borough of Wandsworth to thrive in their education. Through mentoring, family support, casework and homework clubs, we provide the tailored support each young person and their family (if they have one) needs to overcome the barriers to education they face at home and school. 

Key Objectives for this Role 

Working closely with the Lead Youth Worker and Youth Worker you will help create safe, engaging and inclusive opportunities for children and young people to learn, build confidence and develop positive relationships. 

Homework Clubs 

• Support the running and planning of two weekly homework clubs for children age 5 - 14.

• Contribute to the development of engaging session plans and learning activities. 

• Research and source resources and materials to support activities and learning.

• Support to plan and run engaging and fun activities/ongoing projects for children attending the clubs.

• Use participatory approaches to ensure young people help shape activities and programme development.

• Encourage children and young people to take ownership of activities and contribute to decision-making within the clubs Implement our behaviour management policy and work from a trauma informed perspective.

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) is a membership organisation and the voice of the profession, with over 4,750 members in the UK and overseas. Our role is to champion the specialty, set standards of training and practice, and influence change to make a difference to the lives of patients with eye conditions.

Job Purpose 

The Director of Examinations plays an important role within the College, providing strategic leadership, oversight and delivery of our exam function in the UK and overseas, at the same time as ensuring alignment with best practice and GMC standards.

This role has responsibility for a budget of £2M+ and for the delivery of exams to around 3,000 candidates each year. The postholder is also responsible for leading a team of six members of staff and forms a key part of our Senior Leadership Team, taking corporate responsibility for the overall direction and operational management of the College.

Main responsibilities 

1. To oversee the strategic direction and delivery of exams 

• Provide strategic leadership for the College's examination function, ensuring all examinations are designed, delivered and continuously improved in accordance with the College's strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, obligations and recognised best practice 

• Develop and implement the long-term exams strategy, anticipating future developments in medical education, assessment, AI technology and regulation to identify opportunities, manage risks and ensure the continued relevance and sustainability of the College's examinations

• Promote effective communication and collaboration across the team, ensuring colleagues are informed, motivated and connected to the College's strategic direction, while championing the team's achievements across the organisation 

• Ensure robust financial stewardship, including strategic financial planning, budget management and long-term forecasting, contributing to the College's sustainability and value for money 

• Provide strategic advice, analysis and assurance to the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee, reporting on performance, risks, financial position and progress against objectives

4. To contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) 

• Play a full and active role as a member of the SLT, contributing to the development and delivery of the College's strategy and organisational priorities 

• Provide visible organisational leadership, promoting collaboration across teams and embedding a one-College approach that delivers consistently high standards of service and performance 

• Contribute to the development, implementation and review of College-wide policies, governance arrangements and organisational processes, ensuring effective and consistent application across the organisation 

• Share collective corporate responsibility for decisions taken by the SLT and Board of Trustees, supporting their successful implementation and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement 

• Lead and contribute to cross-organisational change programmes and strategic projects, ensuring effective engagement with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver sustainable improvement 

• Champion and role model the College's values, behaviours and leadership expectations, fostering an inclusive, respectful and high-performing organisational culture. 

5. To undertake other duties as required:  

• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Chief Executive

• Extensive travel in the UK and overseas is required, alongside working outside normal hours from time to time during exam sittings.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience 

• Degree or equivalent professional qualification 

• Significant senior leadership experience in examinations, education, assessment or a professional membership organisation 

• Experience of leading high-stakes assessment or examination services, including quality assurance and regulatory compliance 

• Experience of strategic planning, budget management and organisational performance 

• Experience of leading, developing and motivating high-performing teams 

• Experience of working with Boards, committees, regulators and senior stakeholders 

• Experience of leading organisational or digital change programmes
