About the role:
Every young person deserves more than a roof over their head. They deserve a place where they feel safe, seen and able to imagine a future for themselves.
We are looking for two Deputy Team Managers to join our Ofsted Registered Young Person’s Accommodation Services, with one opportunity in Camden and one in Greenwich. Working alongside the Service Manager, you will help turn our accommodation into places where young people aged 16 and over - including care leavers and young people facing multiple disadvantage - can build trust, discover their strengths and take meaningful steps towards adulthood and independence.
You will be a visible, energising presence in the service, giving staff the guidance, confidence and space they need to deliver exceptional support. From coaching colleagues and strengthening support and safety plans to responding to safeguarding concerns, missing episodes and periods of disengagement, you will help the team remain curious, persistent and ambitious for every young person. You will also make sure preparation for the future starts from day one, creating opportunities for young people to develop practical life skills, reconnect with education or employment and move towards a home of their own.
You will build strong relationships with local authorities and partner agencies, maintain high standards across housing management, health and safety and Ofsted compliance, and make sure young people are not simply consulted but genuinely heard. Their experiences, ideas and ambitions should shape the support they receive and the way the service grows.
This is an opportunity to lead with heart, challenge what could be better and see the difference your leadership makes in young people’s everyday lives. Through reflective practice, ongoing learning and development and hands on management experience, you will continue growing as a leader, with opportunities to progress across Single Homeless Project's (SHP) Young Person’s Services and the wider organisation.
About you:
- You believe in young people’s potential and know how to build trust, spark confidence and keep going when progress is not straightforward.
- You have experience supervising or developing staff who support young people, including care leavers and those facing multiple disadvantage.
- You understand Ofsted Registered accommodation and can help colleagues turn safeguarding, trauma-informed practice and professional curiosity into meaningful everyday support.
- You are a calm, encouraging and hands-on leader who gives clear guidance, strengthens practice and helps colleagues grow without taking over.
- You bring resilience, fresh ideas and a genuine appetite to develop, using your creativity to open up opportunities for young people to build skills, independence and hope for the future.

Right now, Gaza is one of the hardest places in the world to be a child. As of July 2026, UNICEF reported that more than 21,000 children had been killed and around 44,500 injured since October 2023. Over 58,000 have lost one or both parents or primary caregivers, while around 700,000 have missed almost three years of formal education.
Established in 2024, Children Not Numbers (CNN) is a medico-legal charity committed to the health, safety, education and rehabilitation of Gaza’s children. Working alongside colleagues in Gaza and more than 100 volunteers worldwide, including surgeons, medics and lawyers, the charity provides medical care, medical evacuations, education, psychological support and international advocacy. Within its first year, CNN evacuated more than 300 children and their companions, supported over 650 children through its multidisciplinary clinical team, delivered maternal healthcare to more than 600 women, educated over 350 pupils through its primary school, provided holistic care for 71 orphans and distributed more than 1,000 food aid baskets.
Reporting to a Co-Founder and Director, the Senior Communications Manager will lead Children Not Numbers’ social media strategy and day-to-day digital communications, using ethical storytelling to grow audiences, strengthen supporter engagement and help drive fundraising. Building on the charity’s established communications strategy, the postholder will also support website content, campaigns and brand development, working closely with colleagues in Gaza, the fundraising team and external creative partners to ensure the charity’s work is communicated with accuracy, sensitivity and dignity.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to help shape the next phase of Children Not Numbers’ growth, bringing fresh ideas, creativity and strategic thinking to a charity where communications plays a central role in fundraising and advocacy. With a collaborative ‘yes’ culture, the freedom to think differently and the autonomy to turn ideas into action, the successful candidate will have real influence over campaigns and storytelling.
As Senior Communications Manager you will:
- Lead Children Not Numbers’ social media strategy and day-to-day digital communications, creating compelling, ethical content that grows audiences, strengthens supporter engagement and helps drive fundraising
- Line manage the Marketing & Communications Officer and Gaza-based Video Journalist, while overseeing relationships with external creative and PR partners
- Work closely with colleagues in Gaza, the fundraising team and senior leaders to develop content and campaigns that communicate the charity’s work with accuracy, sensitivity and dignity
- Support digital content creation across the charity’s website, working with an external website agency, supporting the development of campaign landing pages and ensuring consistency of messaging and brand
- Create and/or review written content, including thought leadership pieces, fundraising materials, impact reports and organisational publications
- Monitor performance and emerging opportunities, using insight and creativity to continually strengthen the charity’s communications and digital presence

- Strong understanding of the role communications and social media play in successful fundraising, with experience developing and delivering integrated digital campaigns that support fundraising, advocacy or wider organisational objectives
- Experience managing people, or demonstrating equivalent leadership experience, with the ability to motivate, develop and support others
- Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to tone, accuracy and detail
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, digital trends, audience engagement and analytics, with experience using insight and data to inform strategy and optimise performance
- A confident, collaborative leader, with the ability to work at pace, respond to changing priorities and make sound judgements under pressure
- An understanding of, or genuine interest in, the Gaza and broader Palestine context, humanitarian issues, and the importance of ethical storytelling
- Strong content creation and visual design skills, including experience using Canva or similar design tools
Desirable:
- Experience in the humanitarian or international development sector

Who we are
Chefs in Schools is a young, ambitious charity that’s rapidly growing. Our mission is to improve kids' health, through improving school food & food education.
We focus our efforts in areas of high socio-economic deprivation, where more than a third of children are entitled to free school meals, and diet-related disease is driving further inequality.
We support and train school kitchen teams to serve the best, freshest and tastiest food possible, alongside meaningful food education. We share learning and resources, aiming to inspire and enable others to follow our lead.
We’re backed by some of the biggest names in food and have ambitious targets to ensure every child has access to incredible school food and food education, setting them up for life with the skills and knowledge to feed themselves well.
About you and the role
As our Digital Manager, you will be the strategic anchor, quality guardian, and operational driving force behind our online presence. You will fully own the performance of our two primary websites: the main Chefs in Schools (CIS) platform and the complex, public-facing School Food Project (SFP) national resource and coalition hub. You will be directly accountable for driving traffic, mastering SEO, maintaining exceptional content quality, and ensuring a seamless, highly secure user experience against clear, measurable targets.
This is a leadership role that bridges technical execution and creative strategy. You will act as the crucial, confident link between our external technical agencies (who build and maintain the infrastructure of the sites) and our internal content creators and programme teams. Crucially, you will be an empowering manager, leading a dedicated digital sub-team of 1-2 direct reports, supporting them to manage day-to-day content workflows, e-learning administration, and community moderation.
We are looking for someone solutions-focused, collaborative, and deeply analytical who takes pride in helping a high-profile, mission-driven organization run at its absolute best.
Key responsibilities:
1. Website Ownership & Performance Management
-
Own the overarching strategy and performance of our two flagship websites (CIS and SFP), optimizing UX and UI for user journeys, design, and maximum accessibility standards across both sites.
-
Own and maintain a forward-looking, prioritized digital platform roadmap, striking a strategic balance between long-term feature development and agile, day-to-day reactive requests
-
Ensure both platforms—particularly the highly visible, national School Food Project website—maintain the highest standards of data security, uptime, quality assurance, and accessibility, proactively managing risks associated with public scrutiny.
-
Take end-to-end ownership of web analytics and data integrity—from configuring custom event tracking to reporting on performance—utilizing Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for quantitative metrics and Microsoft Clarity for behavioral insights.
-
Set, monitor, and report against clear performance targets spanning web traffic, user engagement, resource downloads, and search rankings.
-
Lead content and platform feature reviews through a risk mitigation lens—ensuring strict compliance with safeguarding, privacy, and coalition guidelines—while running targeted A/B tests to optimize user experience.
-
Lead on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy to maximize organic reach and connect school leaders, chefs, and partners to our resources.
-
Establish and manage digital incident response protocols, defining clear workflows for first responders, triage steps, and escalation pathways in the event of site outages, technical bugs, or security breaches.
2. Agency & Supplier Management
-
Act as the primary, confident technical interface with our external web development agencies and tech suppliers, holding them accountable to high-quality delivery.
-
Translate internal program, comms, and membership goals into clear technical design briefs, managing timelines and tracking project budgets.
-
Coordinate rigorous testing of new features, bug logging, and site maintenance to guarantee absolute platform stability before public deployments.
3. Team Leadership & Collaboration
-
Line manage, mentor, and support 1-2 direct reports (including roles focused on systems, community moderation, and resource uploads).
-
Work closely with the Communications team, External Relations team and Programme Leads to align digital development with broader organization campaigns and resource rollouts.
-
Oversee the content calendar and governance for both sites, ensuring all published assets strictly adhere to brand tone of voice and quality standards, working closely with the senior social media officer, engagement team to ensure cross org planning .
4. Data, CRM & Systems Integration
-
Oversee the data integrity and smooth technical flow between our website frontends, e-learning platform (LMS), and internal CRM systems.
-
Ensure all digital systems, data tracking, user permissions, and marketing platforms comply fully with GDPR and organizational data protection policies.
-
Construct and present scannable dashboards and reports (using Google Analytics and CRM data) for the Senior Leadership Team and stakeholders to demonstrate impact.
Essential Skills and Experience
-
Digital Product & Platform Leadership: Proven experience managing digital products, websites, or online platforms—ideally at a Manager level within a charity, agency, or fast-paced setting.
-
Complex Systems Integration: Strong confidence managing (or partnering with a technical agency to manage) integrated digital environments where the CMS, CRM, and LMS operate as a unified platform. You must be comfortable understanding and troubleshooting multi-layered user access permissions (e.g., tailored journeys for different school types and member tiers).
-
Foundational literacy in HTML and CSS to troubleshoot layout issues, understand site structure, and effectively translate technical requirements to developers.
-
Agency & Project Management: Confident experience collaborating with, briefing, and managing external technical partners, developers, or freelance technical staff to deliver complex features on time and on budget.
-
People Management: Demonstrable experience managing, mentoring, and developing direct reports, fostering a supportive and high-performing team environment.
-
Data Fluency & Quality Control: Ability to analyze, clean, and visualize data (using Google Analytics, CRM reporting, or spreadsheets) to monitor site performance, ensure data integrity across system integrations, and drive user experience improvements.
-
Communication & Collaboration: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex "technical speak" for non-expert internal staff, write brand-aligned content, and build strong cross-team relationships.
-
Mission Alignment: A deep personal commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, alongside a genuine interest in our mission to transform child health through school food.
Desirable Skills and Experience
-
Familiarity with online community/forum moderation and user engagement strategies.
-
Prior experience working within the wider charity sector.
