Summary of the Role

STOP THE TRAFFIK prevents vulnerable communities from being recruited, trafficked, and exploited. Our targeted prevention work disrupts the criminal business of human trafficking, making it too high-risk and low-profit to be viable.

This role will lead on our work to prevent recruitment of vulnerable people, overseeing our global prevention programmes that reach high-risk communities with lifesaving information, typically via social media (through partnership with companies like Meta & TikTok). It will also lead on our data gathering initiatives, and on the development of our new product, the Safety Centre.

The Head of Prevention is responsible for ensuring our programmes are high quality, effective, leading on safeguarding as well as monitoring and reporting impact to drive future funding.

Summary of Responsibilities

Team Management & Leadership:

· Manage a multi-disciplinary team that works together to deliver prevention programmes, bring in partner data for our Traffik Analysis Hub, and develop software and data tools for vulnerable communities.

· With support from the Director of Intelligence and Prevention, oversee the flow of intelligence resulting from prevention programmes, including the safeguarding of individuals at risk.

· Manage relationships with funders and partners.

· Manage data experts focused on bringing in high quality data to our Traffik Analysis Hub and leverage those insights to build effective prevention programmes.

· Work within the Senior Leadership Team to ensure organisational strategic focus against annual impact and income targets.

· Work alongside the Development Team to deliver funding bids and pitches for further prevention programmes.

Programme Delivery & Product Oversight:

· Oversee all prevention programmes to ensure we reach the right audience based on intelligence with effective messaging.

· Oversee all intelligence collection and safeguarding while key campaigns are live, providing a trauma-informed and person-centred approach.

· Monitor, capture, and communicate the impact of prevention programmes to evidence our methodology, and drive further funding.

· Improve and innovate our programmes to scale, overseeing the build of our new Safety Centre, a 24/7 platform leveraging AI to provide round-the-clock prevention, supporting our Full Stack Developer and supported by our senior solutions architect.

· Monitor and review social media performance for prevention campaigns and suggest ways to improve reach and engagement.

· Support the Data Engagement Manager to build and maintain relationships to effectively source data for our Traffik Analysis Hub.

· Capture and articulate use cases for the TA Hub to support marketing and partner engagement.

Job Purpose:

The Strategic Communications Planning Lead is accountable for ensuring that all communications activity across the organisation are strategically prioritised, coherently planned and effectively integrated to advance MSF UK’s strategic objectives, reputation, fundraising performance and advocacy impact.

Working in close partnership with senior leaders and heads of teams across departments, the postholder leads the organisation’s communications forward-planning process and comms calendar; establishes high-quality strategic briefing standards; and oversees the coordination of complex, multi-channel campaigns. They ensure that communications planning and delivery are aligned with organisational priorities, values and ethical standards, and that resources are deployed effectively to maximise impact.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Strategic communications & planning

• Significant experience in strategic communications, campaigns or marketing roles within a complex organisation, ideally in the charity or international development/humanitarian sector.
• Strong understanding of audience insight, comms planning, and multi-channel communications (owned, earned and paid).

Project & campaign management

• Demonstrable experience in leading multi-stakeholder communications and campaigns from concept to delivery.
• Excellent organisational and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Bridge Watch is a suicide prevention and community safety programme that deploys trained volunteer patrols on London’s bridges to identify and support individuals at risk, helping to prevent tragic outcomes.

The programme forms part of wider suicide prevention efforts across the Square Mile and surrounding areas, with a focus on early intervention, compassionate engagement, and partnership working. Bridge Watch volunteers are supported by a comprehensive training framework that equips them to confidently and safely engage with people in crisis, raise public awareness, and signpost to appropriate support.

Bridge Watch continues to develop its coverage, volunteer base, and profile, working closely with statutory and community partners.

Job Summary

The Bridge Watch Assistant will provide administrative and operational support to the Bridge Watch Programme Lead, contributing to the effective day-to-day running, coordination, and development of the programme.

The role plays a key part in supporting volunteers, maintaining smooth operations, and helping to raise the profile and impact of Bridge Watch across London.

Hours: Part-time, three days a week.
Contract: Fixed term for three years.

Main Duties & Responsibilities 

Programme Administration & Coordination

• Support the coordination of the day-to-day operations of the Bridge Watch programme
• Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence and maintain accurate administrative records
• Assist with scheduling, rotas, and general programme organisation

Volunteer Support & Engagement

• Support the recruitment, onboarding, and initial engagement of Bridge Watch volunteers
• Assist with patrol rotas and arranging cover where necessary
• Support follow-up with volunteers to review early experiences and ongoing engagement
• Process volunteer expense claims in line with organisational procedures

Communications, Events & Engagement

• Support the development and delivery of programme communications and awareness-raising activities
• Assist with website and social media content preparation
• Liaise with volunteers, partners, and external organisations to support meetings and events
• Arrange meetings, including booking rooms, preparing agendas, and circulating notes where required

Operational & Practical Support

• Provide practical support at the Bridge Watch base, including assisting with equipment and uniforms
• Order uniforms and equipment and assist with stock management as required
• Attend meetings, events, and occasional patrols to support programme delivery and quality assurance

Monitoring, Development & Funding Support

• Assist with basic research, data collation, and reporting as directed
• Support the preparation of evidence and contributions toward funding applications
• Assist in the development of volunteer resources and support materials

General Responsibilities

• Liaise with members of the wider Ascension Trust staff team as required
• Undertake any other duties reasonably required in line with the role

Experience

• Experience of working in the third sector
• Experience in an administrative or coordination role

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

Context and Purpose of the role

The Community Outreach Project (Scotland) an initiative to bring the Ramblers strategy to life, and open the outdoors to some of the groups that have the most barriers to getting out walking.  The project works with community-based contacts in urban areas with a focus on refugees, asylum seekers and people from global majority communities.

Key responsibilities

· Lead on the design, development and implementation of the Community Outreach Project Scotland.

· Identify and develop new partnerships and opportunities to help grow and expand project and impact.  

· Assess and monitor risks, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations.

·Contribute to the organisation approach to risk management

· Lead on and manage the project budget and programme evaluation and reporting.

· Overall responsibility for groups of inexperienced participants in outdoor settings using industry best

practice in risk management

· Capture success stories, case studies and good practice in how our work makes a difference.

· Work with the Scotland’s director and fundraising team to secure the funding and support required to sustain and expand project.

· Develop effective ways to build bridges between excluded communities and  existing Ramblers walking groups by building strong and proactive relationships with volunteers.

· Engage and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to provide accessible and sustainable walking experiences.

· Contribute to GB-wide strategic approach to community engagement with those who face the greatest barriers to benefit from being outdoors

· Engage and proactively develop excellent working relationships across the organisation

The person

Qualification

· Hill and Moorland or Mountain leader qualified (or trained with assessment pending) and a valid 16 hour Outdoor First Aid Certificate

Knowledge and Experience

· Experience of managing volunteers and staff including training and mentoring outdoor leaders0

· Experience of initiating strong external partnerships and collaborative internal relationships to deliver mutually beneficial activities and outcomes.

· Experience of successfully engaging communities in sport and physical activity programmes, in particular, outdoor activity provision.

· Experience of implementing change and working with others to adopt new ways of working.

· Experience of assessing and managing risk in relation to outdoor physical activity

Skills and Leadership
