The purpose of the role is to support the Bishops of Hereford, Southwell and Nottingham, and Coventry in their duties as Members of the House of Lords. The work includes research and information gathering, drafting speeches and questions, managing meetings, appointments and other events on behalf of the Bishops and such other work as they and the Head of Parliamentary Affairs may require from time to time.

The Parliamentary and Policy Researcher's priorities and tasks will be determined by the Bishops, with whom the postholder will be expected to have frequent direct contact along with their key advisers. In conjunction with their offices, the Head of Parliamentary Affairs will manage, guide and oversee the parliamentary work of the postholder.

The Parliamentary and Policy Researcher will be based with the Parliamentary Team. This is located at Lambeth Palace, London , SE1 7JU (within the Church of England's wider Faith and Public Life Team), and at Church House, Westminster, SW1P 3AZ. Some flexibility, including home working, is possible, though there is an expectation that the postholder be available to attend Westminster.

40% of the postholder's working time will be spent in support of the Bishop of Hereford, 40% in support of the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham, and 20% in support of the Bishop of Coventry. Flexibility in the working pattern will be required, depending on the respective requirements of each, their commitments in the House of Lords, including duty weeks.

The work of the Bishops in the House of Lords is guided by their policy and local interests, as well as their status as religious leaders with a national profile. Both the Bishop of Hereford and the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham have a shared concern for issues affecting rural communities.
Policy interests:
- Bishop of Hereford: Rural Affairs & Agriculture, Science & Technology. He chairs the Rural Bishops' Group and the Remuneration and Conditions sub-committee of the Archbishops' Council. He also serves as Clerk of the Closet to His Majesty the King (heading up the Ecclesiastical Household).
- Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham: Defence and the Military, Children (with a particular interest on children in care, Marriage & Families, Health and Social Care, Mental Health.
- Bishop of Coventry: Gender/Equalities, Reconciliation, Disability
As such the post may be well suited to someone who has particular experience of or interest in these areas of policy.

From time to time the postholder may also be called upon to add capacity to the Parliamentary Team by providing resource to other Lords Spiritual on policy areas they have become familiar with in their work for the Bishops of Hereford, Southwell & Nottingham, and Coventry.

The postholder will need to have access to the Parliamentary Estate, so will be required to apply for a security pass sponsored by one of the employing Bishops, and will be expected to abide by the rules and codes set by Parliament that accompany the issuing of a pass. The postholder will also have access to the facilities offered to Lambeth Palace and other NCI staff, observing the responsibilities and protocols which apply to all.

The balance between parliamentary tasks and those that relate to the Bishops' diocesan roles is likely to vary depending on the parliamentary cycle.

You will lead on our nfpPolitics programmes – quarterly surveys of 100 MPs and an annual survey of 100 members of the House of Lords, plus annual surveys of MSPs in Scotland, MSs in Wales and MLAs in Northern Ireland. These programmes give charity clients clear, evidence-based insight into how they are seen at Westminster and in the devolved parliaments: tracking awareness of organisations and their campaigns, the actions parliamentarians have taken in response, and how effective they consider those organisations to be. Subscribers also receive unfiltered open comments from parliamentarians and access to broader political intelligence data – covering what MPs see as the biggest challenges facing the sector, the factors that influence whether they will support a campaign, and which organisations have impressed them in Parliament.

This gives charity communications teams systematic insight into how the media perceives them and their work – not just whether journalists know who they are, but whether they want to work with them, and what would make them more likely to.

The Role

In September 2024, National Numeracy launched a new ‘Schools & Families Programme’ to support primary schools to increase pupils’ confidence with numbers, positive feelings about maths, and awareness of the value of maths outside the classroom. The programme also works to improve parents’, carers’ and school staff’s own confidence with numbers and supporting children with their maths. The programme has been hugely successful and is growing rapidly, supporting over 400 schools each year.

National Numeracy are now looking to expand this work into secondary schools across the UK.

The Schools & Families Officer will support the Schools & Families Programme Manager in managing fast-paced activity across the UK, including helping to deliver online training directly to school staff, recruiting schools, and visiting selected schools to ensure the success of the programme. The Schools & Families Officer will also support with the design and delivery of the new programme in secondary schools.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Team: National Cycle Network

As the NCN Portfolio Support Coordinator, you will provide support across the National Cycle Network directorate, helping to maximise efficiency in programme delivery, data management and internal communication. You’ll work closely with the component teams of the NCN Directorate and provide direct portfolio support to the Director, complementing the functions of the Delivery Coordination Office and the Planning, Governance and Assurance Directorate.

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Supporting the delivery of multiple programmes across the UK by ensuring that programmes are set up in line with the Trust’s Delivery Framework and managed accordingly.
• Improving the efficiency of the Directorate by providing technical assistance and coaching on information management systems.
• Assisting in management and maintenance of key portfolio documentation and establishing and overseeing a central filing system.
• Overseeing internal communication platforms on behalf of the directorate such as internal Toucan pages and triaging public enquiries. 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys setting up new systems and processes and working on a wide range of impactful programmes.

About the Role

As a Nature-based Solutions Officer you will support the delivery of the National Landscapes Association’s Nature-based Solutions programme, working closely with the Head of Nature-based Solutions to develop projects, partnerships and investment opportunities across the National Landscapes network.

You will help build a strong pipeline of investable nature-based solutions projects, support National Landscapes teams to design, develop and deliver high-quality initiatives aligned to national policy and market opportunities.

The role will provide a comprehensive administrative and office management support to the Head of Corporate Services and the department. To establish and maintain effective communication with all departments/units and between offices and other functions of IRUK where relevant. Provide support to Corporate Services activities and projects and to help ensure effective delivery of corporate services strategy and work plan.

The successful candidate must have:

Experience:

• Substantial experience working as an Administrator/PA providing support to a Head of Department / senior manager.
• Demonstrable experience in attending and minuting managerial / executive meetings and assisting with the production of reports.
• Proven experience of working with budgets and strategy and maintaining financial records.
• Proven experience of diary and correspondence management.
• Experience of successfully providing full administrative support to a busy department including collating, monitoring and disseminating information to stakeholders.

Skills:

• Excellent organisational and administration skills. 
• Strong written communication skills necessary to draft letters, minutes, reports and other documentation.
• Strong verbal communication with an excellent telephone manner.

The role:
Shakespeare's Globe is seeking a Learning Coordinator to join the Learning team which focuses on delivering a range of projects for young people, schools and teachers. This team is responsible for coordinating the delivery of the ground breaking annual Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank project; daily Lively Action workshops which bring Shakespeare to life for students from across the globe; high quality CPD for teachers, and a vast range of other projects, both revenue-generating and funded.
