*This role sits within a pay grade with a pay range of £22,115 (£27,694 FTE) to £34,913 (£43,642 FTE) . The salary on appointment will be set at the lower end of the pay range, to a maximum of £24,370 (£30,463 FTE) depending on the candidate's skills and experience. This approach aims to ensure fair compensation for new hires while maintaining alignment with the structured pay scale for the role.

Context and purpose of role

By 2034 Ramblers ambition is that everyone in England and Wales will be able to join a Wellbeing Walk close to where they live – for communities to come together and experience the health and wellbeing benefits of walking. This work is part of the strategic plan and business objectives of Ramblers GB.

The role will deliver the Walking Together Project across communities in north London, Slough and Reading. The role will engage directly with the most disadvantaged communities, where loneliness, social isolation and inactivity could be prevalent, through a ‘Getting Started’ Wellbeing Walks programme. This is a community delivery role to work with local communities to establish walks and find potential walk leaders within the community to sustain walking.

Key responsibilities

· Deliver the Ramblers Getting Started element of the Walking Together Project

· Maintain positive working relationships with local and regional partners to deliver the project

· Maintain positive working relationships with local members/volunteers

· Attend Community/Borough or Town Council, steering group and other partner meetings and events and use to deliver the project

· Ensure relevant policies and procedures, compliant with current legislation and in line with Ramblers’ approach, are supported

· Set up community walking programmes in the identified areas each year

· Deliver and coordinate training opportunities for the communities who sign up to the project

· Support the Community Development Officers in identifying further opportunities in the area

· Manage and record project expenditure

The person

Knowledge and Experience

· Experience working with a wide variety of groups and communities

We are seeking an inspiring, strategic and collaborative leader to shape and deliver WCRF’s Health Information and Support strategy across three core audiences: the general public, health professionals and cancer survivors. The postholder will lead and develop the team, ensuring its work is innovative, evidence-based, high quality and demonstrably effective.

You will ensure that public and patient insight shapes our work from cancer prevention to survivorship, strengthen programmes for health professionals and make effective use of digital channels. About the role

The Learning Officer plays a key role in making sure evidence on how our homes and communities can become better places to age in is spread across the UK.

This role primarily works with the UK Network of Age-friendly Communities, a network of over 110 communities, led mostly by local authorities, VCSE organisations. This network is part of a global movement and is affiliated to the World Health Organisation.

You will be working with the Network and Learning Manager to inspire, connect and support network members, using a range of engaging methods including: 

• Creating resources such as blogs, case studies, toolkits, etc 

• The design and delivery of training, events, and workshops 

• Facilitating connection and exchange between members

This is hand-on role will involve delivering key learning activities and managing your own workload, whilst also being responsive to support network members. The role ensures our support for the Network is high-quality and inclusive of a diverse range of experience and expertise, from within the Network and beyond.

The successful candidate will be experienced in and passionate about having an impact through helping people learn and feel connected to others working towards the same goals. An excellent facilitator and written communicator, you will have an eye for detail and be able to easily summarise and share information so that others can learn from it.
