The Pepper Pot Centre is a vital, Caribbean & other  BME  community resource for the over 60s in Kensington & Chelsea and neighbouring Boroughs,  seeking to combat discrimination, isolation, depression and loneliness and help our members to take charge of their lives and  live in a healthy and independent manner.

Having formally opened our doors in 1981, we are a meeting place for older and retired members of the community and a day centre that provides a balanced Caribbean meal, recreational and cultural activities and lots more. In 1976 & 2006 was visited by the late Queen and by the Duchess of Cornwall in2020.

We are now seeking a part-time Events Coordinator to join our team for a one-year, fixed term contract, working 21 hours per week.

About the role

This is a phenomenal opportunity for a proactive and community-focused individual with a strong grasp of the needs of older people from Caribbean backgrounds and other BME communities to take an exciting step in their career with our organisation.

We are looking for a highly organised and creative  Events Coordinator to join our  growing team to plan, deliver and evaluate the effectiveness of events  targeted specifically at our 60+ community e.g. trips/visits to parks, museums, Theatre, Seaside and more.

Our new Events Coordinator  will support the planning and delivery of a key part of our work, namely: the management of our events programme designed to combat and prevent isolation, loneliness and depression amongst our elders. They will work closely with our sponsor,  Global Radio – LBC, Capital Xtra, Heart, Smooth, Classic FM, talkSPORT and more.

Specifically, you will:

• Develop an Events programme, trips, visits, excursions designed to combat discrimination, isolation, depression and loneliness.
• Publicise our programme of events, and activities via digital media, leaflet distribution, open days, and word of mouth etc.
• Support and encourage our members to attend the Events programme of activities.
• Recruit train and organise team of volunteers to support and expand the Events programme. 
• Plan, organise administer and accompany members on trips, visits and excursions within and outside the UK and you may be required to work outside normal office hours.
• Produce written reports for the management committee and our sponsor Global Radio.
• Evaluate the success of events through feedback mechanisms, attendance records, and make recommendations
• Adhere to PPC’s internal administrative protocols and procedures, including the Finance Procedures, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Data Protection policies.
• With the Director, regularly review and update risk assessments for events.

About you

Essential:

• Understanding the essential needs of older people from Caribbean  backgrounds and other BME communities
• Previous experience of successfully coordinating events
• Experience of both planned and reactive approaches to event planning/work Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
• Good organisational skills with a methodical approach to working on several tasks simultaneously and working to deadlines.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively  diverse populations and build rapport with clients
• Good written and research skills with the ability to draft letters, invites, reports skills
• Be familiar with Microsoft Office, Excel etc.

Summary of the role:

The HR Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day HR operations, focusing on delivering high-quality HR services. The role oversees employee relations, employee experience, learning and development, reward, resourcing, talent management, people analytics, EDI, wellbeing and payroll. The HR Manager will ensure the effective execution of HR processes and the maintenance of HR good practices across Muslim Aid, with a specific focus on using HR metrics to inform strategic decisions.

1. Oversee and manage all aspects of HR operations, ensuring compliance with legal and organisational policies.
2. Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they receive all necessary training and introductions to Muslim Aid policies.
3. Manage the recruitment process from job posting to hiring, ensuring a smooth and efficient candidate experience.
4. Respond promptly and effectively to HR-related inquiries from employees and management.
5. Conduct training sessions to educate employees and managers on HR policies and best practices.
6. Oversee the performance review process and ensure it is conducted fairly and consistently across all departments.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in managing HR operations and a team within a small to mid sized organisation.

Duties and key responsibilities

Policy

• Work with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager to support and deliver Sarcoma UK’s policy development.
• Support the development of evidence-based policy positions that are representative of the external healthcare environment, working alongside colleagues, clinical and healthcare professionals.
• Produce a range of high-quality, evidence-based documents including briefings, reports, and consultation responses.
• Support the Policy and Public Affairs Manager to respond to government and other sarcoma-focused or cancer consultations.
• Provide the Secretariat to Sarcoma UK’s Early Diagnosis Expert Steering Group and support their work to raise the profile of issues preventing early and accurate diagnosis of sarcoma.
• Work with other teams in the organisation to articulate and deliver communications for supporter audiences around policy work.

Public Affairs

• Develop relationships with key influencers, including parliamentarians, civil servants, the NHS and other stakeholders.
• Work with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager and Communications Team to shape campaigns which are evidence based and solution-focused.
• Organise events, meetings and briefings to ensure our policy messages are communicated to external stakeholders and influencers.
• Ensure our supporters are regularly updated about our public affairs and campaigning activity using communication channels and involve them where appropriate.
• To support the Communications Team to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of sarcoma, and to publicise the work of the charity.

External relationships

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with sarcoma clinicians and people personally affected by sarcoma, including members of Sarcoma UK’s Early Diagnosis Expert Steering Group.
• Represent Sarcoma UK at external Policy and Public Affairs events.

General

• Support the integration of the Policy and Public Affairs programme across the charity as a whole.
• Attend Sarcoma UK events and take part in Sarcoma UK’s wider work.
• The role will require occasional travel to meeting and events. Occasional weekend or evening work may also be required and time off in lieu will be given.
• The post holder will be working in a developing environment, and they will therefore be required to undertake other appropriate duties as necessary for the efficient operation of Sarcoma UK.

We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Team Leader to join our Hounslow Young People service in Chiswick.

The post holder will be fully involved in all aspects of the day to day management of their designated services, including line managing the relevant front line staff. Aquarius is part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence. We know that recovery can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. But we also know that if we provide the right support, at the right time, we can inspire recovery nationwide and that recovery is possible for everyone.

Right now, we’re looking for someone like you to join our team in Aylesbury who support service users facing drug and / or alcohol related issues. You will provide the vital administrative, data entry and reporting and reception support the service needs to run smoothly. This is a substance misuse service that works with adults aged 18+ and is run in partnership with Inclusion (MPFT NHS Trust), Aquarius, Connections Support and Build on Belief.

As well as GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above (or equivalent), you have experience of data entry, manipulation and reporting. We’ll also be looking for a background in an admin role where you dealt with people from a wide range of backgrounds, both over the phone and face-to-face. There is a requirement in the role to generate, print and record prescriptions. Familiar with all aspects of electronic communication such as email, diaries and the intranet, you have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Windows files and folders too. What’s more, you have lots of initiative, are great at multi-tasking, work well within a team and under direction from others.

We have 2 permanent full-time roles requiring the post-holders to work 37 hours per week.

Aquarius is a subsidiary of Richmond Fellowship, with both organisations being part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence. From 1st June 2024 Richmond Fellowship will be merging with the mental health charity Humankind to form a single organisation that provides the joined-up mental health, housing and drug and alcohol support we’ve all known has been needed for decades. At the same time, Aquarius will become a subsidiary of Humankind, with no impact to terms and conditions of employment. In October 2024, Humankind will then be renamed to reflect the new, bigger and better organisation, of which Aquarius will remain a subsidiary.

The Role (30hrs per week)

· To provide day to day management and supervision of our remote Support Team, providing guidance and support to deliver appropriate information and advice for our mums and families.

· Provide casework support to Mummy’s Star families.

· Work closely with the Operations Manager to implement consistent processes and ensure appropriate training and development for the Support Team.

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the post holder will manage the Support Team at Mummy’s Star. More specifically you will be responsible for:

Support Team Management (50%)

• Provide quality support, leadership, development and line management
• Oversee the delivery of individual, tailored support for families

· Regular review and assessment of caseload including co-ordinating weekly caseload meetings and management of new grant application flow to Trustees.

· Work with the support team to regularly monitor, evaluate and report on the support provided by Mummy’s Star.

· Act as Lead Professional in complex cases if required.

· Working with the CEO and Operations Manager to ensure the wider team has appropriate resources and support around wellbeing

· Complying with the charity’s administration, monitoring and financial systems

· Working in close partnership with health care professionals, charities, and other key stakeholders

· Work with the Operations Manager to develop new engagement tools for families to improve accessibility.

· Assist the team to co-ordinate the Ask the Expert events and other resources

· Contribute to, and support the development of, the charity locally, regionally, and nationally

Information and Support Casework Delivery (50%)

· Receiving referrals and assessing needs of families from contact via self referral (post, email, online and social media) and third party referrals (health care professionals, families and charities)

· Providing families with the appropriate support based on their needs, this will include 121 emotional support, signposting to financial/practical support and peer support via our online forum.

· Ensuring support to mums and families is reviewed at regular intervals. 

· Maintain and monitor the online peer support forum.

Other Duties and information about the role

· The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as required to support the charity and beneficiaries.

· Some evening and weekend work may be required but time off in lieu (TOIL) will be given for this.

· A DBS check will be required for this role.

Location:

Four or five days a week

Contract:

Initially, a twelve-month fixed term contract with a view to permanent and possible progression to Chief Operating Officer. Job-share applications considered.

About the role

The Director of Finance and Corporate Resources holds a key role in our organisation and is core to the senior management team. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Director of Finance and Corporate Resources is responsible for finance, HR, facilities, and governance.

Managing a team of four (comprising a Financial Controller, Finance Services and Business Support Manager, HR Manager, and an Administrator) they are responsible for all ‘back office’ operations, providing the supporting infrastructure to ensure quality delivery of our work and mission.

You will work closely with the Chief Executive to lead the organisation through operational change. Investing in the right technological and finance infrastructure for The Young Foundation is overdue, and we are looking for a self-starting candidate with proven experience in digital transformation and change to increase efficiency, knowledge management, and reporting of vital management information. The assessment of business needs and analysis of possible solutions has been undertaken and the successful execution of this transformation is a key deliverable in the first 12 months of the role.

We are a charity earning our income through commissions, grant funding, and by responding to tenders. As such, we need to think and act as a consultancy, supported by our Finance team. We are looking for a hands-on, motivated individual with a solid background in consultancy and charity finance and digital transformation.

About the role:

We are seeking additional staff to join our experienced and committed teams within our Complex Needs Service in Westminster.  You will be in a specialist role designed to work with people with complex support needs, relating to mental health, multiple physical health needs, poly-substance use and offending.

As a Project / Support Worker Complex Needs, your role will be to provide support to clients to enable them to understand their support needs and to manage these effectively.  You will hold a caseload of clients and be responsible for helping them to identify short term objectives, meet their goals and complete risk assessments. You will also support clients to develop their living skills, develop and manage relationships, build social networks and to access various services.

About you:

• Previous experience of working in the health and social care, supporting vulnerable people, rough sleepers or people with complex mental health, physical health or substance use support needs. 
• An understanding of working with people using person-centred approaches. 
• The ability to manage a caseload and deliver positive outcomes utilising your knowledge of the health and social care sector. 
• A flexible and creative approach to working with a sometimes hard to engage client group.

Flexibility is required, as you will be working a rota inclusive of early shifts, late shifts and bank holidays.

What you'll be working on: 

Casework

•         You will undertake case work and processing of applications, from performing initial checks and           review to presentation to Case and Education Committees.
•         You will liaise with beneficiaries and maintain appropriate records.
•         You'll write agendas and minutes for committees.
•         You'll advise and refer applicants to alternative sources of support when applicable.

Finance

•         You'll administer grants and gifts to agreed levels.
•         You will organise payments to beneficiaries and service providers.
•         You will support the audit process.

Grants Management System/Benefactor

•         You'll maintain and update grant management system.
•         You'll review content and create reports, as necessary.

In-house resources/General Admin

•         You will help update and produce in-house resources for approval by CEO and/or Executive                  Committee. These include application forms and guidance notes, annual review and reports,                 standard letters to beneficiaries, contact lists etc.
•         You'll update website pages, with other members of staff team
•         You will maintain and update standard operating procedures for processing applications.
•         You will provide general office administration including replenishing office supplies.

Any other duties

•         You will service and attend AGM and other meetings of PAG, as required.
•         You'll represent PAG with other organisations, as required.
•         You will undertake any other duties required by the CEO, Executive Committee and Committee           of Management.
•         You will assist the CEO in developing a fundraising strategy and policy.

Do you want to join an organisation committed to addressing low literacy and numeracy levels amongst people in the criminal justice system?

We’ve made substantial progress as we implement our new strategy, with improvements and expansions to our delivery model and a renewed vision and mission. To support our recent growth, we are recruiting for a new part time Finance Officer to help us effectively manage our day-to-day financial processes and provide financial and administrative support to our growing team of staff and volunteers.

Working closely with colleagues across the charity, your responsibilities will include the processing of purchase invoices and expenses, raising of contract invoices, assisting with budgets and forecasts and supporting our Income Generation team with their finance needs. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to various finance projects and strategic initiatives.

It is essential that you have strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, good communication abilities, and a proactive attitude towards assisting with diverse finance tasks. Ideally you will possess a formal accounting qualification (AAT or equivalent) or be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping. Underpinning this will be the ability to build relationships, and personal qualities that include persistence, determination and a problem-solving approach. We want to hear from applicants who are as committed to the cause as we are.

This is a home-based role but may require occasional travel around the UK including overnight stays.
