We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and reliable Sessional Play Workers to support weekend sessions for children and young people aged 5–17 with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.

This is a rewarding and hands-on role where you will directly support children and young people to enjoy activities, build confidence, develop independence and have fun in a safe and inclusive environment.

About Rockinghorse Children’s Charity

Rockinghorse Children’s Charity supports sick and disabled children across Sussex. We support babies, children and young people, along with their families, at The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and The Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton and all of the specialist children’s wards and baby units throughout Sussex. 

We deliver and fund projects that enable doctors and nurses to do more. All of projects are led by the needs of children and young people and their families – the lifesaving medical equipment, the support for parents and families, the toys for children spending time in hospitals across Sussex, the environments and spaces that help children feel more at home when they are in hospital and additional staff to make sure children get the best possible care when they are unwell. 

Originally set up in 1967 by Dr Trevor Mann, we have been supporting children for more than 55 years, and in that time, we have supported nearly a million children and their families. As the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, including the Trevor Mann Baby Unit, we work with the NHS, charity partners and the Sussex community to ensure children can be children no matter now sick they are. 

We do not receive any government, statutory or local authority funding and so we rely on the generous support of individuals, community groups, companies and trusts: people like you, who care about children and want Sussex to be a safe place for children to grow up. 

About the Role

In 2025 we launched our five-year strategic plan, which prioritised our activities to enable us to support more babies, children and teenagers. As we enter the final year of this strategy the charity continues to expand and develop its projects and services children all over Sussex.

This role will support the Head of Finance & Operations and be responsible for organising and managing the charity’s volunteers and the volunteer programme, working across the charity to ensure we have the right individuals to support our work. You will be responsible for the management, recruitment, onboarding and retention of all short and long-term volunteers, to ensure we can continue to deliver life-saving projects for children and young people across Sussex.

You’ll bring excellent organisational skills, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, a can-do attitude, evidence of brilliant people management skills, and a passion and enthusiasm for supporting young people. Duties of the Role 

Support the charity to deliver brilliant projects and services that support children and their families:

· Work collaboratively across the charity team to recruit volunteers with the necessary skills, experience and commitment to support our project delivery, fundraising activities, events schedule and office work.

· Communicate regularly with our volunteer community, to highlight upcoming fundraising and challenge events and ensure there is sufficient and appropriate representation in place per event.

· Ensure that the charity has the right policies and procedures in place for the recruitment, onboarding, retention and management of volunteers.

· Lead on and co-ordinate the induction and training of volunteers to ensure they are fully onboarded and prepared for the charity and the role.

· Support volunteers to achieve their aspirations in terms of work experience, education, training or further volunteering during their time with us.

· Co-ordinate individual and/or group supervision and support for volunteers.

· Manage a volunteer database in line with relevant data protection legislation and ensure that all volunteers undergo appropriate due diligence during the recruitment process.

· Encourage and facilitate volunteers to share their experiences as case studies and reflections.

· Co-ordinate volunteer thank you initiatives, engagement activities and communications to ensure volunteers feel part of the charity and actively participate in our work.

· Create partnerships with new corporate and community partners to maintain a steady flow of volunteers into the charity.

· Develop effective working relationships with existing partners, helping to engage local teams in volunteering and fundraising opportunities.

· Oversee work experience placements throughout the year, ensuring a positive experience and maximising the return on investment for the team.

· Manage the offboarding process for all volunteers, ensuring a brilliant experience from start to finish.

· Support the Head of Marketing and Communications to create promotional, marketing and social media materials related to our volunteer programme.

· Modernise and automate processes on an ongoing basis to increase workflow efficiency.

· Lead on the evaluation of the volunteer programme and ensure we understand and value to impact volunteers bring to the charity.

· Report on the volunteer function as part of the management information and against set KPIs and targets. 

Support the charity more widely:

· Represent Rockinghorse at events and activities, building strong peer relationships and sharing best practice.

· Model excellent conduct and behaviours in line with the charity’s values and ethos.

· Carry out other such duties as may be required for the purposes of the charity, including working flexibly during evenings and weekends as required.

· Travel across Sussex as needed in order to attend events and meet with our supporters and volunteers.

Role

We are looking for a successful Philanthropy & Fundraising Manager with a proven track record in face-to-face major donor fundraising, or an individual with outstanding transferable skills and experience of working within the charity sector. The individual must thrive on building trusted relationships and be confident in securing significant philanthropic gifts by successfully securing complex, high-value partnerships over the line.

Management Supervision and Guidance

You will be responsible to the CEO for your daily tasks and duties, and ELT in any other matters.

Purpose
The Philanthropy Manager will create and drive The Hunslet Club’s fundraising strategy by cultivating and securing significant philanthropic support a new capital project to expand opportunities for young people across South Leeds. This role is central to building meaningful, long-term relationships with individual donors, trusts, foundations and partners, translating their passion for youth development into transformational investments that strengthen programmes, increase participation and create sustainable impact. The successful candidate will combine strategic vision with confident stewardship, ensuring that funding growth aligns with The Hunslet Club’s mission to help young people achieve their full potential.

Duties and responsibilities

The Philanthropy & Fundraising Manager will work on a full-time basis, or part-time on a pro-rata basis. The primary responsibility of the role is to secure £700,000 and above in philanthropic income over a 18 month period. This will be achieved through identifying, researching and cultivating individual donors, corporate supporters, trusts, foundations and strategic partners, using research tools and publicly available information to build and manage a strong portfolio of prospects, particularly those with an interest in supporting young people and communities.

To be successful, the postholder will develop an excellent understanding of The Hunslet Club, its mission and its inspirational youth and community work, and will help to develop and articulate a compelling case for support. The role will involve achieving a clearly defined set of Key Performance Indicators, providing high-quality stewardship to maximise donor retention, and maintaining, developing and leveraging existing relationships with current supporters. The postholder will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including Executive/Senior Leadership and Trustees, to ensure effective involvement in fundraising activity where appropriate.

The successful candidate will organise suitable events and cultivation opportunities to build long-term relationships with potential supporters. Attendance at events, meetings and conferences will be required, with support from Executive/Senior Leadership and Trustees.

The successful candidate will also be expected to volunteer at a minimum of three cross-club community events per year and to carry out other reasonable duties as requested by the Executive Leadership Team.

Operation Manager opportunity at Alford House

We are recruiting a versatile and commercially- oriented Operations Manager to manage the facilities, develop our rental income and provide timely and accurate financial and administrative management support.

Working model: Reporting to the Senior Youth Worker and working 18 hours, typically over 2.5 days per week (flexible working pattern can be agreed), this is a hands-on role covers (but is not limited to) the following;

• Managing the buildings and their facilities, with external contractors where appropriate
• Sustaining existing and securing new sources of income from space rentals/other commercial opportunities
• Supporting fundraising/grant income applications
• Financial and budget planning, monitoring and reporting, with the support of a part- time bookkeeper
• IT, administration and facilities management policies, processes and systems
• Ensuring the building and its facilities comply with relevant regulation and legislation and that all polices are up to date, communicated and applied to provide a safe and secure environment

Crucial to our success will be the Operations Manager’s support for and identification with our mission and values along with the ability to work collaboratively with the Senior Youth Worker and his team in their work with young people in Lambeth.

Founded in 1884, Alford House Youth Club remains a pivotal 21st century community anchor in Lambeth, providing a safe, trusted environment where long-term, relational youth work can help young people develop socially, emotionally, physically, and creatively.

Alford House’s activity programme is open to young people aged 8 to 21 years old offering a variety of sports, games, creative and recreational activities in a safe and secure environment that is managed by our dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

This has enhanced an already exceptional range of flexible venue spaces which we let during the daytime to theatre companies and businesses. This commercial activity contributes crucial income to support our work with young people.

What you’ll bring to Alford House

• Experience of income generation (lettings, grants etc)
• Experience of managing buildings/facilities including responsibility for maintenance, contractors, Health and Safety and regulatory compliance
• Experience with and good understanding of financial management, including budget monitoring, management and year end accounts and working with external accountants, bookkeepers and payroll.
• Experience with QuickBooks, Xero or similar.
• A proactive, hands on and practical working style, able to work independently in resource-limited settings
• Reliability and thoroughness, able to identify problems early and escalate appropriately

Overview

The Premier League Foundation is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Grants and Compliance Manager on a permanent basis. As a key member of the Central Operations team, you will help ensure the Foundation operates as an effective and efficient charity by maintaining robust, high‑quality grant‑management processes. Working closely with the Head of Governance and Operations and the Senior Impact and Insight Manager, you will oversee all grant‑making activity, from application through to monitoring, reporting and end‑of‑grant procedures. You will ensure that grantees comply with funder requirements, and that our grant‑making practices reflect, promote and continue to evolve in line with sector best practice.

You will collaborate closely with the Programmes Team and the Impact and Insights Team to ensure they have the tools and frameworks needed to monitor grant delivery and performance in line with Premier League programme expectations and funder requirements. Supported by the Governance and Grants Executive, you will track how funding is used, ensure grant conditions are met, and lead the ongoing improvement of grant‑making systems and processes.

A core part of the role will be leading the development and implementation of the Capability Code of Practice — a governance framework designed specifically for the unique needs and context of professional football club charities. You will ensure the Code continues to evolve with governance best practice and will work directly with Premier League club charities to create regular opportunities for sharing good practice, supporting them to achieve full compliance with the Code and to strengthen their effectiveness and efficiency as charitable organisations.

Working alongside the Head of Governance and Operations, you will also help ensure the Foundation maintains strong governance and operational excellence, including our own compliance with the Code and ongoing improvements to internal systems and processes.

Who we are

The Premier League Foundation was established in 2010 to distribute funding provided by the Premier League and its partners to professional football club charities across England and Wales, supporting them in their delivery in thousands of community venues and schools across the country. A total of 106 club charities are supported across the Premier League, English Football League, and National League.

More than 2.5 million individuals have benefitted from the charity, which aims to foster positive sporting, health, personal and education opportunities for children, young people, and the wider community.

Our hybrid-working model also allows you some variety on your place of work, offering you the chance to work from home on some days each week. You will attend the office or site visits in line with our company policy. All staff liaise closely with their line manager to manage their time appropriately and according to their work and team requirements.

The role

• Oversee the Premier League Foundation’s grant management function, ensuring timely, high-quality and consistent processes for grant assessment, approval, delivery, monitoring and reporting.
• Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of grant-making processes to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
• Provide advice and support on the design and development of application and grant-making processes for new programmes and funds.
• Work with the Head of Governance and Operations and the Finance team to support grant payment processes, including quarterly grant payments as required.
• Oversee the management of grant agreements, supported by the Foundation Governance and Grants Executive, and establish processes to ensure all grant-related documentation is quality assured and appropriately maintained.
• Contribute to reports relating to governance and grant management including mid-year and end of year monitoring updates for Premier League Foundation Board meetings.
• Support the Programmes Team in producing engaging and informative reports on programme performance and impact for our funding partners and other relevant stakeholders as required.

• Work with impact and insight colleagues to develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks for grant-funded projects.

• Oversee the development and implementation of the Capability Code of Practice and the Capability Audit process, working collaboratively with funding partners and key stakeholders to assess the governance and management arrangements of funded organisations, and to embed a culture of continuous improvement across the network
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with the 20 Premier League football club charities to ensure compliance with the Capability Code of Practice, providing tailored support, advice and guidance to aid the effective implementation of their Capability Action Plans
• Lead the Premier League Foundation’s internal self‑assessment against the Capability Code of Practice, monitoring progress and evaluating performance against the actions set out in our Capability Action Plan.
• Lead the delivery of the bi‑annual Capability Code of Practice Conference, as well as other grant‑making or governance‑related networking opportunities, events and training sessions
• Line-manage the Governance and Grants Executive, providing regular supervision, workload management, wellbeing support and opportunities for professional development.
• Ensure the Foundation is well connected to other initiatives and organisations in the sector and stay informed of trends in grant funding practice to inform operational improvements.
• Represent the Premier League Foundation in a professional and positive manner when engaging with internal and external stakeholders, always reflecting the organisation’s values.
• Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required, and are commensurate with the job role, in furtherance of the objectives of the Premier League Foundation.

About the role

The Community Organiser - Youth plays a central role in growing Amnesty UK's nationwide movement of young human rights activists. Working as part of a close-knit team, you will build strong, lasting relationships with children and young people, empowering them to learn about human rights and take meaningful action in their schools, youth centres and communities. You will inspire thousands of young people each year through engaging talks, workshops and campaign events, and support them to develop the confidence and skills to become advocates for change.

A core part of the role is supporting and scaling Amnesty Clubs and Youth groups across the UK, alongside recruiting and training a network of volunteers who deliver human rights talks and workshops to engage and inspire young people. You will mentor and organise the Children's Human Rights Network, enabling young leaders to design and run impactful national campaigns on everyday rights issues and resisting authoritarianism. You will also contribute to AIUK's emerging work supporting boys and young men to engage with human rights.

This role typically needs to spend 1- 2 days per week visiting schools or youth clubs to fulfil the responsibilities of the role, and at least 1 day per month in the London office. More details can be found by downloading the job description from our careers portal.

Want to work with multiple award-winning charity, FoodCycle? As Regional Manager you will represent, manage and co-ordinate your allocated regional Projects. Our Projects are spaces where volunteers are empowered to run community meals using surplus food.​

Background

The history of our Charity stretches back over 230 years to the foundation of a school for the blind by Edward Rushton. Since 1898 the school has been based in Wavertree and in 2016 Rushton Futures opened alongside the school, providing a service for young adults aged 19+ with complex needs. 

About the Rushton Centre Project

The Development Manager's primary work in the initial phase of the role will be to direct a fundraising campaign for the new Rushton Centre. The Centre is being designed to meet the changing needs of the Charity. As well as a hydrotherapy pool, we want to open a cafe which will give young people with additional needs opportunity for work, and we want to create additional spaces. The Centre will cost an estimated £4M. The Trustees are in a position to contribute £1M from reserves, but the Development Manager will play a crucial role in designing and implementing a fundraising strategy for the remaining funds. 

Key Tasks

1. Develop and implement fundraising strategies and campaigns to meet organisational goals and ensure financial sustainability.

2. Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and foundations, including individuals, corporations, and community organisations.

3. Research and pursue grants and trusts applications, managing the process from start to finish.

4. Coordinate and oversee current charitable donations and legacies.

5. Work with colleagues at the Charity to identify funding priorities; liaise with key post-holders, including the Finance Manager, to meet audit and compliance requirements.

6. Organize fundraising events and initiatives, such as galas, charity drives, and online campaigns, to generate donations and increase public awareness.

7. Manage donor databases and maintain accurate records of contributions, sponsorships, and communications.

8. Take a supporter-centred approach in all your work, building strong, respectful relationships with donors.

9. Communicate the organization’s mission and impact to donors, stakeholders, and the public through presentations, newsletters, and promotional materials.

10. Be responsible for managing and promoting our fundraising profile through social media and other online presence.

11. Monitor and evaluate fundraising campaigns to assess effectiveness and inform future strategies.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilities Management:

• Oversee management of Variety House in Camden including building maintenance, safety procedures, office operations and infrastructure
• Liaise with tenants and external contractors to ensure facilities are well-maintained
• Monitor and manage office budgets related to supplies, utilities, and maintenance
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including managing risk assessments and fire safety
• Lead sustainability initiatives within the office (e.g. recycling, energy-saving practices)
• Ensuring health and safety compliance for staff including being the designated fire marshal (training to be provided)
• Ensure competitive quotes for office services and building maintenance, making recommendations based on quality, reliability, and value
• Negotiate contracts to optimise costs without compromising standards, identifying areas for cost savings and facilities improvements

 Office Management:

• Maintain a professional and welcoming environment for staff, tenants and visitors
• Manage office vendors including maintenance, cleaning, and security
• Manage office supplies inventory, supporting staff to ensure when items run low that orders are placed
• Manage kitchen supplies and maintenance for all staff
• Support onboarding and offboarding processes from a facilities perspective, managing keys and security
• Handle incoming mail and deliveries and ensure efficient distribution across the building
• First point of contact for calls, visitors, and office enquiries

Governance:

• Assistance the CEO during busy periods with diary management and in-office meetings
• Support the CEO with organisation of Trustee meetings and administrative assistance, such as minute taking as required.

Administrative:

• Maintain records of office leases, utilities, and insurance policies
• Manage access control systems and office security
• Create and maintain facilities manuals, process documentation, and onboarding guides

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

Essential:

• Experience with the charity or Not-for-profit sector
• Proven experience as Facilities and Office Manager, or similar role.
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills.

Food Project Coordinator

This role will primarily coordinate our growing food club project, Bristol Goods, but will also provide support for our other services that utilize food to engage people in support and build community connections. 

Caring in Bristol has a legacy of food-based projects; from our inception as Caring at Christmas, through to Cheers Drive, our pandemic response service. We have a fantastic network in the city’s food and hospitality sector which enables us to work in creative ways to alleviate housing insecurity. 

As Food Project Coordinator, you will play a central role in organising our food club operations and ensuring Caring in Bristol upholds food safety standards. A significant part of the role will be centred around building relationships with our food club members and the volunteers that help deliver the service. 

The postholder will also have the opportunity to contribute to other food-centred activity within the charity, including food provided to our young people’s services and Caring at Christmas. 
 

Key responsibilities 

The workload for the role is split in approximately the proportions: 

~60% of the role 

Food logistics and coordination  

• Support the Senior Project Coordinator to oversee the sourcing, supply and distribution of food, ensuring a consistent and balanced provision of fresh and ambient products for service users each week. This includes driving the Caring in Bristol van (full UK driving licence essential).

• Coordinate and monitor the stock of food, ensuring there’s always sufficient stock levels to cover all the food clubs

• Coordinate the weekly Fareshare delivery and sorting/preparation of food in line with organisational procedures 

• Support the Bristol Goods Team to uphold food safety management within the organisation, ensuring our warehouse space is adequately clean and organised at all times 

• Manage Bristol Goods volunteers on shift to ensure they understand how to carry out their role safely, and enjoy their experience

• Supervise the on-site running of the food clubs on a Rota basis with other Caring in Bristol staff. This does involve cash handling and taking payments.

• Support Senior Project Coordinator to form working relationships with our food suppliers and food sector contacts, and seek out potential new opportunities that could benefit the resilience and breadth of Caring in Bristol’s food offer 

• Supporting the delivery of our other food projects including Bristol Youth Goods. 

• Follow organisational safeguarding, health and safety, data protection, COSSH and van procedures.

Food Club Member Support 

• Interact with members and signpost them to relevant services within Caring in Bristol, in the local community, and city wide.

• Keep up to date with support services across the city to provide appropriate signposting and referrals. 

• Provide support and build relationships with Food Club members through informal check-ins and identify those who may be experiencing challenges impacting their housing or wellbeing. Provide appropriate assistance, including but not limited to, form filling, applying to external volunteering opportunities or training and referring to additional services.

• Uphold the safety and safeguarding of members in the delivery and development of the Bristol Goods service.

• Record members’ attendance, support provided and engagement on our database in line with data protection policies and regulations. 

• Take ownership of our community noticeboard, sharing opportunities and support options in the area.

• Organisational development work, including; attendance at team meetings, safeguarding reviews and participating in the volunteer support and training.
