Deliver high quality community events

• Lead on the delivery of our large-scale events including our Welcome events, our Varsity series and Student Awards

• Ensuring delivery of a portfolio of SU-led events designed to maximise student engagement and experience

• Manage the creation of engagement plans with student led committees to increase engagement and support the development of groups in such a way to ensure their sustainability
• Manage the delivery of sporting and society activity across UoGSU
• Develop and deliver training and support for student volunteers who lead sports clubs, societies and other student groups within UoGSU
• Develop an inclusive and welcoming culture across all UoGSU student groups, supporting staff in the Student Communities Department to challenge negative cultures where they might arise
• Create and set annual departmental KPIs, monitoring these and reporting as required on the work of the Department

About the role

We’re looking for a London Marathon Officer to join Young Lives vs Cancer and help deliver an exceptional experience for Team Young Lives vs Cancer runners, supporters and volunteers at the 2027 Double TCS London Marathon. 

This is an unprecedented, one-off event year and one of our biggest fundraising opportunities – so we’re looking for someone who’s ready to play a hands-on role in making it a huge success. 

This fixed-term role sits in our Sports and Challenge Events team, working closely with the Sports and Challenge Events Portfolio Manager to steward our marathon fundraisers, build strong supporter relationships and keep our communities motivated across email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp, post and social channels. 

You’ll also support event delivery, including registration and training systems, fundraising materials, income checks, volunteer coordination and race-week logistics. We’re looking for someone organised, proactive and confident juggling priorities in a busy events environment. 

You’ll need to be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends, with additional office attendance in Bristol and London ahead of the event and availability during London Marathon week in April 2027 (20th to 25th April). 

What will I be doing?

• Build relationships with supports by answering queries across email, SMS, phone and post

The General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, operational management and financial performance of Vision 21 Gloucestershire.

The postholder will oversee the delivery of the charity's trading, environmental and community programmes, ensuring they operate effectively, safely and sustainably. We are looking for a highly motivated and organised Finance Manager. You will play a pivotal role in the organisation, ensuring the smooth running of Create London’s finances. • Coordinate with the School Engagement Manager to identify eligible schools and handover successful grants for delivery.

Grant administration, finances and compliance

• Manage grant conditions, compliance and funder reporting from award through to close.
• Monitor spend against grant budgets and flag underspend or overspend.
• Support the development of improved operations and processes for grant management.
• Identify new income streams and fundraising opportunities.

Essential criteria

• Organised, detail-oriented and independent.
• Experience in grant administration, fundraising support, or charity operations.
• Confident written communicator.
• Comfortable managing finances at the level of budget tracking and reporting.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote, small-team environment.
• Proficient with digital tools.
• Must be a UK resident with the right to work in the UK.

Desirable criteria

• Experience writing grant applications, particularly for charitable trusts, foundations, or public sector funders.
• Experience working in or with the education sector.
• Familiarity with restricted fund management and charity finances.
• Knowledge of or interest in energy, sustainability, or climate education.
• Experience building or improving operational systems and processes.

Salary and benefits

• £36,000 gross FTE (pro rata)
• Around 22.5 hours per week, fully remote with flexible working hours, with an option to work term time only

Reporting to the President, Sir Laurie Bristow, the postholder will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, and will lead a small development office. They will lead a major anniversary campaign, expected to raise in the region of £30–50m over the next decade to support scholarships, transformational capital projects and wider social impact.

The post holder will likely be a senior development professional with a proven track record of securing major gifts. We are seeking an inspiring and strategic leader to guide a respected charity supporting people with life-limiting conditions, their families, carers and those affected by bereavement.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to lead a well-established and highly regarded charity that provides practical and emotional support to people living with life-limiting conditions, alongside their families, carers and those experiencing grief and bereavement.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Charity Director will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring the organisation remains sustainable, effective and responsive to the needs of those it serves. You will lead a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, oversee service delivery, drive fundraising and income generation, and act as an ambassador for the charity across communities and stakeholder networks.
