This role serves as the strategic lead on media, and external communication matters for the Pensions Board, advising and working with senior leaders to propose, develop and execute well thought through proactive and reactive communication strategies to realise delivery of our biggest priorities

It is a hybrid and matrix role. The role holder will work within the NCIs' multi-disciplinary national Communications team ensuring the Board's external communications response is resilient, best practice and well-planned while also taking a steer on initiatives and the handling of key topics from leaders within the Pensions Board. Being able to influence and engage with senior leaders from multiple expert disciplines will be absolutely essential.

Your day-to-day reporting line for key work objectives is to the Director of Strategy & Engagement in the Pensions Board. Professional development and formal line management will be undertaken by the Head of Financial Communications in the NCI's Comms team.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaboration
* Be the primary 'lead' press contact for key stakeholders at the Pensions Board, with a particular focus on ethical and Responsible Investment.
* Lead the development of external media plans to support delivery of the Board's objectives, aligning these with customer communications and stakeholder plans being formed within the Board, working closely with the Customer Communications Manager and Engagement colleagues in Housing and Pensions
* Work as part of the Financial Communications team to manage the relationship with the Ethical Investment Advisory Group,
* Proactively initiate, build and manage complex relationships with key financial and specialist journalists who cover the work of the Pensions Board, strengthening the Board's media presence.
* Work with the digital communications team to initiate social media content for the Pensions Board, including establishing and managing the Board's LinkedIn presence.

Communications planning/proactive comms
* Initiate and sustain effective external communications planning on a monthly and annual basis. This includes setting clear objectives to enhance effectiveness, close gaps and prioritising 'media' requests across Pensions Board teams.
* Be responsible for the development and delivery of key KPIs assessing media performance, and external reach, reporting to the Pensions Board's Director of Strategy & Engagement.
* Put in place a robust comms calendar
* Shape and author messaging ahead of anticipated media interest with an aim to grow the influence of the Pensions Board.
* As a trusted and savvy communications expert, advise internal stakeholders in the development and communication of their core messaging, especially on key projects and initiatives.
* Proactively identify and realise PR opportunities for the Pensions Board aligned to the Board's delivery plan, key strategic projects and making the most of opportunities with wider Church networks.

Reactive comms
* Monitor press coverage and distribute to internal contacts
* Respond professionally to media enquiries from news organisations, including the rapid development of agreed responses to media enquiries, seeking counsel from the Head of Financial Communications to enhance the response. Staying calm under pressure will be essential.
* Field media requests for interviews, photo calls, events, and similar.
* Support with media training and photo shoots for internal stakeholders, including working with and coaching colleagues (at all levels) to enhance their confidence with media exposure.

Content and events
* Identify and organise relevant speaking, conference and award opportunities, including speech writing where needed.
* Collaborate on the production of the PB's annual review, Stewardship Report and other reports - liaising with internal stakeholders, collating and editing content, working with the design agency, and managing budget
* Initiate, manage and maintain excellent relationships with external suppliers and design agencies, including instilling clear standards for delivery.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, you will play a key supporting role within the fundraising team, assisting the Corporate Partnerships Manager and the Communications team. With a key aim of delivering agreed activity and growing income from corporate partnerships.

This role focuses on supporting the identification and recruitment of new regional, national and international corporate supporters, while also playing a lead role in managing and stewarding existing partnerships, with particular responsibility for communications activity and delivery of sponsorship activities and events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supporting New Business Development

• Assist in researching and identifying prospective regional, national and international corporate partners aligned with the organisation’s mission and values
• Support the development of tailored proposals, pitches and presentations for potential corporate supporters

• Maintain and update prospect pipelines and CRM records

• Develop close working relationships with Communications team and work closely with them on creating and scheduling of agreed corporate content in line with communications schedules.
• Coordinate and deliver partnership communications, including newsletters, updates, impact reports, and social media content
• Lead on gathering content to form the basis of partnership communication obligations
• Work with internal teams to ensure consistent and high-quality messaging including drafting copy in line with brand messaging, obtaining appropriate images, developing related materials and ensuring approval processes are followed.

Sponsorship & Agreement Management

• Assist in drafting and managing sponsorship agreements and partnership contracts

• Support the review and renewal of agreements

Administration & Reporting

You will also help position the organisation to engage high net‑worth individuals, foundations and donor‑advised funds as we diversify our income.

Working closely with programme, policy, communications and finance teams, you will ensure our proposals, reports and donor care reflect the quality, impact and integrity of our work. A smaller part of your role will involve overseeing individual giving and gifts in wills, supported by the Funding Officer.

Fundraising Manager

28hrs/4 days a week - £39,000 pa pro rata (£48,750 full-time equivalent)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced senior fundraiser to join our small and friendly fundraising and communications team. The Fundraising Manager is primarily responsible for developing, managing and growing the charity's mid-value donor programme. The role will steward and upgrade a defined portfolio of supporters, delivering excellent supporter experiences that increase donor retention, engagement and income. In addition, the post holder will support on individual giving, legacy fundraising and developing and stewarding a small portfolio of corporate partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a portfolio of mid-value supporters, delivering tailored stewardship, personalised communications, meetings, events and digital engagement that demonstrate impact, strengthen relationships and enhance the supporter experience.
• Design and implement segmented donor journeys and cultivation strategies that move supporters from mass fundraising communications to more personalised engagement, identifying opportunities to increase giving through appeals and special funding opportunities.
• Use donor insight, data analysis and supporter behaviour to monitor engagement and retention, reducing attrition, increasing lifetime value, and identifying supporters with the potential to upgrade their giving and progress towards major donor status.
• Develop, manage, and grow a small portfolio of corporate supporters, identifying and securing new fundraising opportunities including sponsorship, employee fundraising, and cause-related marketing initiatives.
• Manage the legacy giving programme, overseeing legacy administration and delivering targeted marketing and stewardship activities to raise awareness, generate enquiries and encourage supporters to leave a gift in their Will.
• Ensure all fundraising activity complies with relevant legislation, data protection requirements, fundraising regulations and organisational policies.
• Maintain accurate supporter records and activity tracking within the CRM system.

Personal Specification

• A proven track record in fundraising
• Ability to think strategically to identify potential donors, prioritise efforts and develop effective fundraising strategies. This includes analysing data, assessing donor potential and adapting approaches based on feedback and results.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain donor relationships and understand donor motivations and interests. 
• Excellent written skills with an ability to craft compelling and personalised proposals, with a meticulous attention to detail.
• Confident and comfortable making telephone calls and meeting donors in person as a key part of relationship building and stewardship.
• Strong collaborative skills as a team player, whilst also able to work autonomously initiating and driving tasks as a self-starter.
• Experience using CRM systems and supporter data to drive fundraising performance.
• An understanding of the challenges facing doctors and medical students, including mental health and workplace pressures would be desirable.

The high value insight & experience manager will play a hands-on role in delivering cultivation, stewardship and recognition activity - supporting events, experiences, communications and key supporter touchpoints.
