Join Breast Cancer Care in hope, strength and unity this October and support people affected by breast cancer.
A Big Pink is fun and easy to do. It can be anytime throughout October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month – and can be as little or large as you like.
Why not gather your friends and family for a pink night in and swap what you would spend on a night out on a night in, host a Big Pink bake sale for your colleagues or bring the community together to party in pink. Our Big Pink hosts have held community tennis tournaments, car boot sales and street parties – the choice really is yours!
Why support Breast Cancer Care?
Every person’s breast cancer story is unique. More people than ever are surviving breast cancer, but the reality is that every 10 minutes someone new is told they have breast cancer. The number of women living with and beyond breast cancer is set to more than double from 691,000 to 1.7million by 2040. You might not know that each day one man is diagnosed with breast cancer too.
This life-threatening disease abruptly becomes part of their story, and the stories of their friends and family. This year is the 25th anniversary of the pink ribbon, but we’ve been caring and campaigning on behalf of people affected by breast cancer since 1973.
Last year, we’ve helped millions of women and men, their friends and families to live with, through and beyond breast cancer. But there are still thousands of people who are alone, without support.
We know our work transforms lives, but we can’t reach everyone who needs our help because we simply don’t have the funds. By holding a Big Pink, you can be confident that you’ll be helping to keep our vital services running. With 62,000 people told they have breast cancer every year, there’s never been a greater need for our life-changing support, both for today and tomorrow.
Here’s how the money you raise helps
Sell 5 cupcakes for £1 each to provide people with breast cancer the vital answers they need right now by funding five invaluable information resources.
Play your fundraising game with 5 people to help us maintain our supportive online community and allow people with breast cancer to feel less isolated.
Let 5 ladies loose in your living room with a £5 fee to help more people to be diagnosed earlier through funding Breast Health Awareness training.
Hold an office dress down day to help a younger woman with breast cancer feel less isolated by connecting with others under 45 with the same diagnosis.
Have a pink night with 5 friends, donate what you’d spend on a night out to give a woman with breast cancer somewhere to turn after her treatment through our Moving Forward courses.
Surprise yourself with a Big Pink car boot sale in the community, to allow a person with breast cancer to talk freely and regularly over the phone with a trained volunteer.
Here’s some inspiration our wonderful Big Pink hosts
I got all the ladies from Fit Club together. We created our Big Pink dance routine, had a raffle and a live music performance! We’re thrilled with the evening, everyone was so generous and supportive.
Sofia’s Community event
‘We had a Big Pink Bake off! The men baked the cakes with no help from the ladies then the ladies judged the results, we all had a great time. My cancer has spread and my friends have really rallied as I have told them all about the support I have received from Breast Cancer Care.’
Mary’s Big Pink bake off
‘I was diagnosed with breast cancer in both breasts and was off work for nearly a year. The staff at school have been, and still are, wonderful. They were so supportive of The Big Pink day, making lots of cakes, donating generously and wearing lots of pink!’
